    Simple but very impressive test. And very good to know they appear to be nice and safe. Great video, keep and the good work! 👍

    Brilliant video- very thorough (as you say, perhaps not lab environment but good enough for me). Thank you

    Excellent video one is really fitted in a van I bought a couple of years ago I’ve always been a bit worried about running it as I didn’t understand the principle of how it works or how efficient it was and the quality of combustion.
    This has put my mind at rest it certainly heats the van once it’s completed it’s cycle

    There fantastic, if I lived in a van full time I’d definitely have an extra installed for back up.. I have a mwb with no bulkhead, and use a 2kw ch heater , it takes at least 30 min to heat up and is quite noisy ( fan) but never failed in 18 months.. I managed to squeeze it in between my handbrake and drivers seat in my mk4 iveco .. great video as always, see you at quirky..

    These are the types of tests I like to see before making a purchase especially the full consumption on different settings.
    I've been curious which type of heat source is the cheapest to run between the Chinese diesel heaters and a Propex HS2000 using refillable LPG and this video helps with that. Of course there is no contest in the initial outlay cost between these two types of heaters but it may make sense to use the diesel heater in a van that came with an LPG heater preinstalled instead.

    I bought and fitted one to our van, unfortunately, an eBay special, direct from China, Lo and behold, upon installation , defective. Contacted the supplier, got the runaround, never received satisfaction or reimbursment, in the end they ignored my messages, would not answer and shut up shop. It Turned out to be a defective 24v unit, supplied with 12th stickers and wouldnt work no matter what.) I was unlucky, everyone else who i know to have these have had no issues. You may pay slightly more, but get it via a reputable importer/supplier

    Thanks for this test, great information. Everyone tends to fit these inside their vans; I personally would prefer it outside with only the hot air outlet inside. I think it would be safer, quieter and eliminate the risk of a fuel leak inside the van. Have you any experience or thoughts on this?

      Hi thanks, glad it was helpful. Quite a few people do fit them externally but usually mounted inside a protective box to protect from the elements / road spray.
      When mounting internally use of a turret mount is always a good idea from an ease of installation / safety perspective.
      Alternatively if you have some type of garage / locker / storage area partitioned off in the van this is also a location worth considering.

    My carbon monoxide detector went off.. any idea why?

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  Рік тому +1

      Best thing would be to seek professional advice in this situation.
      However - any Carbon Monoxide coming from the diesel heater is most likely to be coming from the exhaust and caused by restricted inlet air so check both of those are clear and suitably connected. If this doesn't help it could be a more fundamental fault in the heater.
      Don't forget to check other sources of CO in your van.

    sorry I know this is not heater related but have you ever reviewed the rut 240
    many thanks Keith 😊

      Hi Keith I am afraid I haven’t. It’s in the same range as the RUT955 that I have but without the dual sim and GPS, so I would expect the 4G performance to be similar.
      Overall I’ve been impressed with all the Teltonika devices I have used. They are very robust and configurable. They can be a bit more technical to set up than a consumer MiFi but for me the commercial grade features are worth the effort. They get regular firmware updates and the support available is comprehensive.

    Did you use regular diesel in your test?

      Yep - Pump Diesel

      ULSD at the pump in the US is remarkably clean and mild compared to heating oil and marine diesel. My heater loves it!

    chinese diesel heaters are perfectly safe and reliable as long as you dont use any of the ancillaries that come with it. ie use a better fuel line , exhaust hose, dont use the silencer and use better jubilee clips. ie good quality stainless ones.

    • @daviddavis6231
      @daviddavis6231 2 місяці тому

      Have fitted these heaters using the fuel line and clips supplied 'With no problems of any kind . Not all but a lot of internet advice about these heaters is nonsense .

    • @seal28halic90
      @seal28halic90 2 місяці тому

      @daviddavis6231 All depends which fuel line comes with it. I speak from experience. The green rubbery plastic one perishes within a couple of months. The last one I brought came with the thick clear plastic one which is fuel resistant. I also put high temperature high speed bearings in the fan because the ones that come fitted fail in no time. That's why they start to carbon up, as the air fuel ratio becomes bad due to less air being supplied to the combustion chamber. Never had a problem with mine since.

    Will this heat the water also , if not , is there a model that does both

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  2 роки тому

      Standard space heaters won’t. Though you could add a Bobil Water Heater.
      www.bobilvans.co.uk/water-heaters
      The Truma Combi D units do both and there are a few copies coming out of China but I’ve not had enough experience of them to recommend.

      @@ExploreVanUK Cheers, I am learning watching your vids, . Would it work out costing more adding 2 units and isn't it all about space. Do caravans have these combi boilers Just a thought as they do flip over and scrap a lot cheers

      Some Caravans have the Truma Combi E which is LPG.
      You’re unlikely to find a caravan with a diesel heater.

      That’s something I’ve considered to, I wondered if it’s feasible to have a water tank with the heater exhaust routed through it to use the heat from the exhaust pipe to warm the water !

    You left out the most important test of all. What happens if the only power source is a 12 volt battery and the battery goes dead ? Answer You have a fire hazard !

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  Рік тому +3

      Not sure what heater you have experienced this on? Can you explain a bit more about what happened?
      On ours if the battery drops below 9v it goes to an E03 error and shuts down the heater safely.
