So "roll with the punches" and let everything go. Mk
But I’m hungry for my pound of flesh
Just found out my best friend cheated with my boyfriend and todays her birthday and I'm really trying hard not to send her a text about what an awful ugly lying backstabbing horrible peraon she is. This is helping.
That's why i don't like self motivational books they normalise you by telling everything is alright which is not. Revenge is a must. Not on anyone but on yourself on what wrong you have done and not to repeat that.
I don’t typically seek revenge on people who’ve wronged me, but I do sometimes feel the urge on the behalf of loved ones who have been wronged…
I was feeling vengeful today. I needed this.
As long as they don't cross the line I've made, even if they bruised me, I don't see the point to retaliate. Until they do, they better keep their necks close to them.
Arrrggg... grumble grumble screw you stoic teachers... I'll try
When you seek revenge you and power of the individual that you seek the revenge on they become part of who you are they make you do different things they make you think differently if you are getting a divorce if you’re moving on from a relationship it’s because the relationship is Rose corset it’s over so why would you continue that relationship to arguments because it’s not over
The opposite of love is not hate when I got divorced I was completely different to my ex-wife we just had to work out the issues with my child and that’s the only conversation we needed to have she couldn’t do that and no circumstances could she do that. I paid her alimony for five years, and I paid 15% above the required child support requirement
And she still called me every day arguing and wanting to change visitation I told her the only way I would communicate with her was through email I wouldn’t even take her text messages because they never ended so then I decided the only way I will communicate with her was through my new wife and I sent her all the paperwork I sent her phone numbers and emails and from that point forward everything was done to my new wife and that was only done because my new wife did not believe some of the things that she would say in her text messages or in some of the voicemails that she would send me and that’s the only way I was able to get that aspect of my life under control
Is there a case to be made for justice? Let's say a stranger attempts to kidnap one's children. Shouldn't one seek revenge in the form of retribution? Isn't ones "revenge" justified?
“The Lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep” Emotional, mental and spiritual maturity makes it hard to relate on the same level to the person that is vibrating on that level.
But I don’t want to heal, I want them to pay.
Ok then what are you suppose to do then? What if someone wronged you, made you suffer or hurt your loved ones. What then? So you are supposed to do nothing?
Some people are not able to handle your intelligence, they don't have that much of brain and thinking power.
Thank you Ryan. I really need this!
I would agree 98% of the time, but once I did strike back in a vengeful manner because it was the right thing to do for what my brother in law did to me intentionally. It was something I couldn’t walk away from and it took several years for the proper moment.
Success is the best revenge.
I am pretty stoic, but I do not agree with this one at all. Without the capacity to return violence a stoic is nothing more than a slave or serf.
The best revenge is massive succes! (Frank sinatra)
Radical acceptance.
And when the other parent is harming your children and can't protect them?
Exactly! Good question. What do you do then?
The beat revenge on a man that cheats with your wife is to let him have her
don’t you disrespect yourself when you do this?
This is so important.
But you at least need justice smh
Thank you😭
True... to an extent. Never underestimate the value teaching a lesson to those that deliberately wrong you. But, you're right if wrongs are accidental. The choice is whether or not you are the best person to deliver the lesson.., at a particular time. Rational Revenge. Will it bring about less damage in the long run, rather than allowing someone to continue harming others? But then, we're no longer talking about revenge, are we? We're talking about proactively dealing with a perceived, and proven threat. Semantics...
"People suck." - Ryan Holiday. ✔
The force and the object can work in unison to reach greatness. What ever object in your mind that is tied to your ambition is immovable. And the force is tied to your will to succeed. this is the fuel that makes you unstoppable.
great meditation to start the day=]
Wow. What is the best revenge? We had two neighbors clear cut 3/4 acre of treed ground owned by the community, planted trees and shrubs they deemed nice without permission. They trespassed-legally and fully against the law. While burning them in the list challenge day 2 and there entitlements, I had let go and still hold a grudge.
Being a stoic is good for sports, warfare, when you face adverisity but it sounds alot like being a door mat in daliy life which to a certain degree we have to be now a days because of our modern society.
Maybe thats why Marcus Arelius kept on suffering cues.
Because he was percieved as weak and had no backbone.
Thats just human nature, we seek to challenge that which is weak, but most importantly take advantage of those that are weak.
Idk I still like the philosophy it has its place, it most definitely has its place in modern society for sure though.
Just my two sense.
Stoicism....... basically be a human door mat.
I needed to hear this today. Thank you.
So true!
Nietzsche.
Just please, Dad...Don't vote for the orange man again...Please?
orange man you're talking to is stoic himself.
I knew what he was gunna say before I watched it. I’m learning
Your style of explaining Stoicism make me feel as if I am reading a book and the book is talking to me.
So tough to want vengeance as a human. Especially when you’re in Marcus Aurelius’ position. But this must be a Stoic, right? I’ve found this tee shirt, “The best revenge is not to be like your enemy.” And it’s got M.A.’s half-face on the front of it. I’m wearing it with pride. #stoicism
Defeat your enemies with success
This is a daily struggle I deal with
I agree but I would return a kick to a mule lol
This also applies to stop trying to tear down statues
Very true. I don't need to get revenge and it's easy to just suffer fools gladly and walk around everybody. But one thing I despise is envious people and frankly, I've had enough of it, so I'm in war mode each and every day and put anyone on the spot who even dears to look at me wrong or think they can challenge me. I don't need to do that but I do it for "fun", because I want to, and because they don't deserve any better. If you stand in my way, I will destroy you.
Need more on this, more words of comfort please..lol
Revenge never. Show the person who wronged you how to amend their behavior, so as not to make the same mistake twice.
Dear Ryan how do Stoics respond to injustices ?
By taking responsibility for yourself and others.
@@True38 Can you give an example?
@@kasratabrizi2839 By standing up for others whenever you see injustice occur. I've done that plenty of times myself.
Never let BS from others slide. Always teach them a good lesson.
And never be afraid to do so because you're only doing the world a huge favor.
Thank you Ryan, I needed this today!
What if I spit on your face and I haven't brush my teeth for months?
I never get even , the ex wife has always beaten me to it and beaten me deep into the ground with no mercy.
Cooperation is always key. Focus on your purpose and career, and find like-minded people = success.
*5 things to quit right now:*
*1. Overthinking*
*2. Trying to make everyone happy*
*3. Living in the past*
*4. Worrying*
*5. Doubting yourself*
You just copy and paste that on all his videos I see. 🙄
You missed the most important one.
Stop thinking that you're in a position to give unsolicited advice.
Don't know why you're one very video but I appreciate your comments
*To all the dreamers out there. Follow your dream, believe in your dream. Because dreams come true, if you have the dedication to give your all...*
True!
I think the best revenge is getting the most out of your life. We all had a path before we were wronged, and that mistreatment is getting ourselves off from the original path, resulting is a worse life. I even try to use the wrong as a motivation to get a better life than before
It took me a long, long, LONG time to grow the maturity it requires for this message to sink in, but I finally agree.
Same, and is peaceful!
Freedom embodied
It's so hard to resist getting even.
@@CC-mj3zq Of course it is. When someone does you wrong, you want to do the same to them and then some. It's the most natural feeling in the world. What finally convinced me to turn a new leaf is when I gave myself an honest chance to ponder over a question: do I want to live a life of destruction or production? Destruction is easy. It's much easier to burn something down than to build something up. Frankly, I'm just too highly productive a person to allow vengeance to ruin my life.
As cliche as it may be, the best revenge really is living well. Actually, I'll modify that a bit: the best revenge is to achieve despite everyone who served to be an obstacle.
Me to time takes time..but my sanity it's my #1 priority
Just forget them, sometimes returning them to being insignificant is the best thing you can do
Exactly. That just pisses them off even more. Giving your enemies attention is what they want. Just ignore them and let them live like the piece of shit that they are instead. The worst mistake you can do is to become just like them.
Have you had this done to you; got caught off in traffic, got angry ‘just because’ or wanted to vengeful. But when the other doesn’t reciprocate, you feel like an idiot because ‘they’ didn’t react. I’ve felt that many times (both ways).
@@ant_ele yes, it’s a lesson that comes with maturity and wisdom
So powerful
I'd rather take my revenge with the education of my enemy in mind as well. so kicking the mule may sometimes be a better solution when it's not about you.
The best revenge is actually NOT responding to petty enemies. They want you to get angry, and when you don't and forgive them instead, you win. Killing your enemies with kindness is often the best solution. Also, choose your battles carefully and never ever fight people if you don't gain anything valuable from them. Ignore the small fish and focus on the big sharks instead. Life is war, and you win by strategic long-term warfare.
@@True38 man, what you said at the end there really hit home.
Any energy spent retaliating, is energy you could be using to grow or find more fulfillment. By giving that up, you're the one who suffers most.
Right on!
Cuck philosophy for gentiles
How original
Plus people should realize most of the time your enemies will destroy themselves.lol
