😂 i loved the bit about the pilots getting a slap during interrogation i can just imagine the tears welling up in their eyes not being used to getting slapped around i couldn't pass the interrogation myself i just know i would lose my s#it and have a roll around and the talking about your family would make me snap in seconds 😂
What an absolute legend! My first visit to your channel, and I'd only seen one or two episodes of the show here and there, but whenever this guy was on screen there's just something about him. Incredible at intimidating the trainees but could tell there's a microscopic twinkle in his eye - here's the proof. Under all the banter though, those tours he's describing are proper heavy. Mad respect to these guys, so humble too. Great interview
I had the pleasure of meeting Phil at a recent small event, he is so easy to chat to. He is the perfect host for these chats , looking forward to more …
My Dad did 22 years in the Army ( signals ) so needless to say a large part of my youth was spent in that environment, these shows are amazing it’s like opening up a toy chest , paras , sas , intelligence etc etc , really look forward to listening to this one :)
This is one of the best interviews I’ve seen on UA-cam Dilksy is so watchable his character just draws you in and compels you watch. Love Big Phil two top blokes here you could listen to them all day and they still couldn’t tell you everything they’ve got up to.
Brilliant interview. Ex RAF medic, left in 2008 after 29 years. He nailed the RAF EOD description 😂😂 The video has reminded me just how much I miss the banter. Great video 👍
I loved this. I've watched a few interviews of both these guys. They're good stand-up blokes. I'm a former Marine, 6 years active around the same time they went in. I had to keep reminding myself that they were actually speaking English at some points when they would be talking fast, laughing and just cutting up with each other. Man, do i miss the camaraderie. And being healthy, i beoke my back, but the camaraderie the most.
Brilliant watch Phil, Ian comes across as a tremendous bloke, proper down to earth and humble and clearly very talented. Great story and superb interview from yourself, Thanks for sharing.
Another great interview by Phil! What an interesting Character Ian is. I bet the skills he learnt have come in handy during his return to Civvie Street. Watching him on the Show interrogating People, he knows how to push your buttons. He is obviously good at his old job in the Army. Thanks guys! 👍
Another amazing pod, I don’t think I’ve laughed as much with any of the others but there’s so many stories you could never get board listening to them. Keep them coming guys
What a lovely funny clever bloke Dilksey is, great interview had me in stitches several times! Did not expect to see him like this after first seeing him on who dares wins TV show. Fantastic, thank you guys for this
Dilksy seems like a top bloke yet on SAS- WDW he looks like he could rip your leg off and beat you to death with the soggy end. I imagine. Great interview with two legends! Total respect to you both and your colleagues past, present and future. ❤
I’m not ex military, I don’t know anything about the military but my god did I enjoy that interview!! What an interesting guy! The rapport between both of you was brilliant, thank you both for being so open and teaching an old bird a thing or two 😊
Usually hate podcasts, don’t listen to any others than this and Dodge Woodalls However I’ve watched this one 3 times - best episode of a pod I’ve ever listened to, I beg you get him on again!!
You've just joined YT to give your little bro a 👍🏻! That's not how it works, you're supposed to take the P out of your Bro. Step it up RSM, we expect more from you 😁
A great listen. It reminded me of some great times in Log BN in the '90's and doing Ex Purple Star. I remember the day when Yorkie creamed in, it was a very tense time waiting to see if he'd make it.
Brilliant and interesting interview Phil. Ian has great resistance skills to help our squaddies. Harry McCallion would be really interesting on the show big/yin.
Brilliant Phil , I had the pleasure of meeting Dilksy a couple of weeks ago , he was detached to our fire station, what a top bloke , he mentioned you been a Southampton fan ( I’m Leeds so carnt say much 😂😂) the pod case was brilliant mate keep up the good work , you are a real inspiration mate cheers Phil 👍🏻👍🏻
This was brilliant. I did the course with Dilksy and was on the Unit with him. Great in the rooms, but used to make me corpse all the time, the only person I know who can be hilarious and terrifying at the same time. good times.
I genuinely thought he was a medical-grade sociopath / extreme sadist before this interview. Just goes to show the professionalism of the British army - switch on, switch off, switch on…. One of the best episodes yet. A great story teller and clearly a top personality! Dilksy comes across as a very decent guy 👌🏼 (Admittedly, I reckon you have to have a steak of sadism to do that job!😜) I could take a wild guess but I still want confirmation what his forearm tattoo is about 👀
Cracking job Big Phil!…we went to 9 Para as sprogs from Gib barracks to build an outside training area, the food in the cookhouse was Michelin star to us, we were used to civvi contractor food…big old birds dripping sweating into the beans, government cut backs etc!!…getting fragged to fook during B3 so you would just get shit tamped and look forward to your horror bag! I worked on Kosovo doing remote sensing etc etc…those mass graves were an eye opener. Belter this mate, keep up the good work, REspect💯
Another great interview Phil with delivery from Dilksy. I'm watching it on the laptop, listening through headphones. My wife kept asking what I was laughing at. That was a good one.
Another fantastic episode Phil and Dilksy is such an awesome guy to listen to, so interesting and has that infectious laugh. Let's hope he comes back on and let's hope he can get Debs on too, that would be something to watch.
Just watched this show. Gleaming episode becoming my favourite podcast. Good to see a fellow royal engineer on massive respect for dilksy wish id stuck to my guns a good few ago and followed what he accomplished.
That was a brilliant Interview and Dilksy is such an inspiration for anyone wanting to join the British Army. The Stories and sometimes funny moments had me thinking. For a scary looking bloke, actually seems like a very likable guy. Well done Phill, great guest and look forward to seeing more of him and other great guests on your show!
Great show Phil, really enjoyed the interview. Such a good character and likeable personality Dilksy. I know from experience he’s a top bloke. Best wishes to you both.

What a fantastic interview. Dilksey realty opened up & told Phil about his military life. Chepstow had all trades there, it has RCT (Boat Troop) I think & also survey apprentices. Mad to think what the army does, not just fighting…
@markdaniels2200 - I cant find the comment you replied to asking about my dad, but he was in aldershot 80-4 & 87-90 with 9 sqn as a clerk (chief clerk on 2nd time), between and after we were in Germany until moving to Chatham in 94
