What an amazing person great stories the Falkland bravo November years ago I watched a documentary with Mike brewer the wheeler dealer guy he was on that helicopter and if I remember correctly the pilot got shoot while taking off and he flew the helicopter back to base I think the pilot was ok turn out he had been shot in his head I think that’s right

Great interview. My Mum volunteered in 1941 at 17 years old for the RAF to get away from abuse and experienced some awflul stuff, I think she missed the camraderie, excitement and friendship and it affected her big time.

Brought back some memories. The funniest thing ive seen was this guy kept a bad locker. Bad hygiene etc. One morning inspection his locker stank. And a couple of corporals put him in the locker and chucked him out the first floor window. 😂 even funnier was the locker outside looked like a peeled banana 😂😂😂

I've said to the Mrs, if I'm ever diagnosed with anything termnal and I don't get to make that decision, tell them to switch me off. A great interview Phil, you have a great style and easy manner with people that enables them to open up quickly and completely. I wish you'd pressed him on his memory of his time during his comatose state. I've always been interested in that altered state of consciousness and the brains ability to process what's happening. Next time, maybe?

Question here that hopefully someone can answer as I am conflicted. I am 21 at the moment and I am currently training in preparation to try and join the Royal Marines. I have the qualifications to go in as an Officer so that is what I have been looking at. I am however concerned that going in as commissioned will mean largely a managerial and administrative role for the majority of my career when, at heart I like to be in the thick of it, planning operations or not I prefer to be involved doing the dirty work. I want to make a career out of the military and will probably stay in for a long time. Not sure wether to go Enlisted or Commissioned. I would be very grateful if anyone here as advice regarding my situation. Cheers, Ollie
