    Thank you so much! This is a little different for us, and a sort of experiment to see if the UA-cam Algorithm likes only some the songs from an album instead of the whole thing better, and will let us use the music! Fingers crossed as this is the first time I am trying to upload it!!!

    I'm a long-time Duran Duran fan. I didn't like most of Paper Gods when it was initially released, but I grew to like it very much.
    Their last album Future Past is very good as well.
    I'm impressed about how mostly great their latest albums have been even though they have been around for 40 years! What an accomplishment! 🙏

    So good to see a new generation into this, I’m 53 and had it first time round…like a Motown feel on sunset garage - this with electronic overtones …enjoy!

    This album has so much going on, like someone said this band has no stylistic boundary. They do everything from rock, pop, funk, hard rock,Soft metal, EDM, techno and even rap. Name one band that covers every genre.

    Thanks for this video! The reason why you might like the guitar a lot is because the one and only John Frusciante plays guitar on Butterfly Girl and The Universe Alone. Nile Rodgers is on Pressure Off and Only Dreams. And the best part on Pressure Off, the breakdown with the strings, that is real violin played by Davide Rossi, they sound incredible when isolated.

    My favorite album is Notorious. 2nd is Big Thing. 3rd is All You Need is Now. 4th Future Past. And 5th is Rio.

    The album art are images from their back catalogue when the band itself were considered paper gods

    fun trivia knowledge: Warren Cuccurullo from Missing Persons was a full time member of Duran Duran from 1989 until 2001

    future past i believe is much better than the paper gods album, also medazzaland is the most underatted Duran duran album. So experimental. All you need is now i think is the best after the 2000's

    It's actually their 3rd recent album not 2nd if you include "Danse Macabre".....Been a fan since i was 11 so 43 years,i'm a certified DURANIE and from the UK.....Oh and my top 3 Albums are "Astronaut,Liberty and Notorious......Oh and fact 2004 was the year that Andy Taylor (original guitarist) rejoined for the second time and i'm so so bloody glad he did.....SLB
    (Simon Le Bon) is a wicked lyracist too boot.

    Soo if you've not listened to 'All You Need Is Now' yet, I think it'd be cool to see you do something like a mix of what you did here, but with an additional kind of "reaction" type feel.
    But if you've already gotten familiar with all the songs, just do this again for AYNIN.
    Come on, just do it! Ya know you want to, & so does Cody… 😉
    Mark Ronson really did help them bring out the feel of their earliest albums & update it to a more modern, sophisticated sound.
    They were talking about how he'd make very specific recommendations by using distinct references that came directly from different parts of their previous tracks.
    Talk about some major knowledge, appreciation & prep work for DD to help make sure they achieved another masterpiece (at least in my mind it is).

    I don't know anything about Duran Duran so when you said Roger Taylor I had to check if Queen's drummer was in the band (Also love how hard Cody was trying to not correct you at 27:50)

    • @NunyaLiz
      @NunyaLiz 4 місяці тому +2

      DD has joked about that.
      Ya know, they talked in an interview about how they were actually friends with the band, & after Mercury passed, Queen had a tribute concert that they'd asked DD to perform in (which they were really excited for), but bc Warren had become an official member, whoever was producing it told the members of Queen that DD couldn't take part as WC wasn't British… smh🤦‍♀️

  • @NunyaLiz
    @NunyaLiz 4 місяці тому +1

    Wait, you do know their guitarist after Andy Taylor: Warren Cuccurullo, was from Missing Persons, right?
    & the reason he joined was bc he found out before the rest of DD that Andy was leaving to go solo & his band member was leaving to work with him.
    So he kept trying to contact them as they were trying to chase Andy down.
    But they didn't understand til they finally called him back & he basically pitched it as - you guys need a guitarist & I need a band…
    Also, a lot of ppl became fans in the '90s bc of mostly The Wedding Album, but also Medazzaland (luv me some 'Electric Barbarella' & the actress in the vid nailed it) & even Pop Trash which i like but not 1 of my top favs (I do luv how beautiful 'Someone Else Not Me' is; I luv how vulnerable Simon's vocals are)
    Also just like John is beloved by bassists, but not well known, same can be said about all them - since i was a huge Simon fan, his lyrics & layered vocals are legendary, no one harmonizes better with Simon than he does himself - but it gets missed a lot if ur not paying attn to it; esp bc when live, others have to take over (it seems to be only when promoting a newly released single, like on a small TV show stage were space is limited, will they use vocal backing tracks, but not at concerts).
    Thanks again for putting this out there, c-ya!

    Save a prayer is one of their best. You should listen to it. RIO is regarded as their Best Album. I like all the new stuff.

      Definitely. There were some great tracks on 7, but I believe back then (& definitely now) most ppl thought it was a step down from 'Rio'

    I love the whole album and I agree with you on Sunset Garage and Only in Dreams.
    I think you should react to the 1993 album named Duran Duran not only for the 2 mega hits Ordinary World and Come Undone, there are a couple of gems on it, the first one is Sin of the City and the other one is UMF. You should also react to Skin Trade from Notorious Album… the mixing work is fenomenal in my humble opinion.
    One last thing …thank you guys for your reaction!

    I'm a Duranie since 1981 and I got everything they EVER released including B-Sides bootlegs... also seen them in Concert 60+ times in So Cal * Vegas Shows in my lifetime. FYI the Taylor's are NOT related, and Nick's real name is Nicolas James Bates and Rhodes is his stage name John Taylor's using his middle name John real name is Nigel John Taylor. Please give "Future Past" another listen it's Epic ALL songs. Also Review their Newest specially covers of "Supernature," originally by Cerrone from the 70's Disco era and their mash-up of "Super Lonely Freak" the WHOLE album is awesome Thank You! (PS) "Pop Trash" album was a under rated album needs a Review)

    The extra bonus or b sides tracks are even better you should listen to Northern lights and valentine stones.
    Northern lights is my fav on this album and valantine stones has a lot of depeche mode vibe in it. I think it has 4 bonus tracks which are all pretty good.
    Rythm nation and planet roaring. Steve johns from sex pistols played guitar on planet roaring. John fruciante played guitar on universe alone, butterfly girl , what are the chances and northern lights.

    If for any reason this had to be Duran Duran's last album, it could not end on a higher note than The Universe Alone. Last and best track on the album.

      @@ronfarney6477 True, but what they're saying is IF Paper Gods was their last album then…not that it's actually their last album, but if it had been, it would have been a great album to end their career with.
      Make sense?
      Take care 😊

    ye should really try the band ghost! its definitely different but the mixing is amazing and id love to hear your opinions on it! Try the album IMPERA, and go from there. There's some amazing songs on there, like Spillways, Kaisairion, Respite on the Spitalfields etc. All up to ye, but i'd say youd enjoy them.

    Rhodes is not from the organ family, none of the 3 Taylors are related to each other - just FYI ;). To really appreciate DD´s depth you really have to dig into their more experimental, arty tracks like The Chauffeur, The 7th Stranger, The Edge of America, The Man who stole a Leopard, the whole Medazzaland album and especially their side project´s (Arcadia) album 'So red the Rose'....best wishes from Vienna from a lifelong austrian Duranie ;)

    • @NunyaLiz
      @NunyaLiz 4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for mentioning 'The Edge of America' bc I always feel like I'm the only one that brings that song up as 1 of my favs; & I esp luv the video from a project Nick did, that came out on/near the 30th anniversary of 'Big Thing'
      Same with Arcadia, which also has some great featured artists like Sting…
      Great taste my friend 🤘
