When I was new to world and the monster hunter franchise as a whole, I played the leshen mission the second I unlocked it. By sheer coincidence I just happened to take a 3 month break from the game
If Ancient Leshen didn't have that root pin attack I think it would be quite feasible to do it solo somewhat regularly. That attack is a death sentence for solo players and even worse than Behemoth's Ecliptic Meteor.
@@jaydeejay4166 I won't say it's a bad fight and it can be fun, but it can get annoying. There are a few factors 1. Probably unanimously agreed upon annoying thing is its teleporting. When it was first released and when it was low on health it would nearly constantly teleport. So much so they actually nerfed it in a way that would teleport a bit less so that players could actually land hits on it. 2. It has a lot of health. Even more than Behemoth supposedly. Even going against it with mid to end game Master Rank gear can take you a while. 3. The Jagras it summons are very strong. Making you flinch a lot and can quickly chew through your health and are very tanky as well. In the normal Leshen quest you can kill Jagras with 1 use of the Igni, but in the Ancient Leshen quest they can tank a Large Barrel Bomb+. Maybe this was done to show how powerful Geralt's casted Igni was. 4. It has Revultures that fly around it that do constant chip damage, but it can be mitigated somewhat by a hard hitting weapons with Health Regen and they are not as easy get rid of as with the normal Leshen. Igni seems to only work on the Ancient Leshen at certain times. This also to led to a lot of people fainting being negligent of their health when wearing the Rocksteady Mantle. 5. It had a somewhat unpredictable attack pattern with its root attacks which could be troublesome and confusing to evade especially in dark areas. 6. A minor annoyance, for me at least, was when it made it made its defensive wall of roots after somehow ending up in a corner or entryway of a zone or when in a narrow passage way.
Damn this hits hard. I remember killing the Leshen pre Iceborne. Hardest thing of my life. I could never kill Behemoth tho. And God, I tried. Afer Iceborne, it was revenge time
I played as a sns support for Leshen. Healed my teammates, burned away roots and flashed the jagras when they overwhelmed everyone. Saved the team several times over and we won. Never got to play with that team again unfortunately
I remember fighting the ancient leshen with two buddies and my ex, it took us 47 minutes and we kept shouting at the screen for him to fucking die. This was when he first came out though and we were still learning him.

Yeah Extremeoth is still I think the hardest thing. Ancient Leshin was also one I struggled with longer then Fatalas. Loved them both and love this game. I think all these fights are hard so again epic ride thanks. Still hard fights even in GR/MR like HR finally bosses didn't mess around. The timing and mechanics for the fights are great and punishing.

I'm glad that MHW can actually be considered a childhood game of mine, to a degree. I love the other games in the series that I have played but World just hits different, in a way that no other game can for me. Leshen was harder than Behemoth for me. His aoe attacks and getting swarmed by birds and hundreds of Jagras just sucked
