I love that you gave the title of the deviants to their respective Apex. My headcanon is that Apex monsters (the rampage ones) are monsters in the process of becoming Deviants, but are still in a early stage. When the scars they have start to heal, some parts of the monster begin to change (the hair of Arzuros, the wings of the Rath, the eyesight of Misutzune, the horns and electric charge of Zinogre, and the horns and tail of Diablos), becoming full on Deviants. I mean, it has been stated that Deviants are monsters who survived previous encounters with hunters, so maybe the rampage was the source of the first deviants. Just a theory.
I always figured apex's are just monsters forced into a deviant-like state due to being caught in the eye of ibushi's storms and gas, hence their darker color and being the head of a large rampage wave
Wasn't the Soulseer a Mizutsune who fought Zinogre, got it realy rough(got eyes badly damaged and thus lost sight) and now is constantly mad at everyone?
I actually always thought the Apex monsters were tied in with Deviants AND MH4U Apexes. The lore of the Rampage is that Narwa and Ibushi has an influence on the monsters that make them run wild. The Apexes are the result of these monsters surviving the rampages and getting stronger, like the Deviants. There's another monster that does something similar, Gore Magala. It infects monsters with it's Frenzy Virus, and makes them go on rampages. If they survive and overcome it, they become Apexes. I feel like these are tied. Gore Magala is a baby Elder Dragon that can make monsters stronger with its influence, not unlike Ibushi and Narwa. So maybe both instances are the same, and all Apexes eventually become Deviants.

Jokes aside, I really liked the variety of weapons here. A few were pretty off meta sets which made it interesting. They all seemed to fit the monster in a way. (LS with mizutsune, DB with diablos, etc) I’d like to see some insect glaive or bow gun too, though that’s obviously up to JSM.
I cant wait for Rise Ult. Then the Apexes will throw us about like a rice sack. Hopefully we will get some armor sets from them, that are only obtainable in G rank. I feel that the impending challenge deserves a good reward. Or, alternatively, we get what I call a Rampage Armor set. Where each armor piece uses materials from 1 apex, then they use rampage tickets and then standard monster parts. So then, instead of all the apexes getting an armor set, we get an Apex Armor set. TLDR: I want, either an armor set for each Apex in Rise Ultimate, OR, one armor set that uses materials from all the apexes.
So what you're saying is Deviants. Just do Deviants again instead of giving it a name that came from 4U that gives worse rewards than what came from that game.

Unfortunately I rarely save my sets and cant remember much. But I can say I used the actual full sets, no layered armor, with a 2 level 2 deco slots charm. I usually pick the armor which skills already benefit a specific weapon and then add to it with decorations.

I personally went and compared variants and apexes, and i can confirm that apex monsters have an improved movestet compared to variants, especially diablos and arzuros
Apex Anjanath sounds like it could be fun. I’m imagining something to do with how Anja spread mucus on all the walls in World. Maybe it sneezes flaming globs that explode like Gogmazios’s tar or Hellblade Glavenus’s magma.

Not sure if this is true but from my knowledge and experience, Apex Rathian’s poison is the same one used by chameleos, which drains your hp quick but goes away fast. Once the tail is cut, it will turn into the normal poison found in most monsters.
I remember the time I did “Those crowned Apex” it was surprisingly easy. Granted I was hunting horn with the best healing horn load out (Rampage agitato S with white sharpness, health [L], health regen, and earplugs [L], melodic slap, resonance bead) and three other hunters that I could tell were experts. We absolutely dominated the three apex monsters and none of us carted, I felt like a true badass having aced that quest.

Today I did an Apex Diablos quest and it was the most fun I've ever had in Rise. Had to wyvern ride 4 times (2 times on Rajang, 1 time on Tigrex and 1 time on Rakna). A lot of adrenaline as I had to be running and doing the leap of faith every 10 seconds so I won't cart. On top of that, after I mounted Tigrex, he was still trying to attack me and even followed me when Diablos was running away. At the end we had an epic triple confrontation with Tigrex, Diablos and Rakna, and then I mounted Rakna and killed Blos.
The apex mizutsune is the hardest in my opinion, especially the one in the event quest literally second last quest. It took so many tries to beat it because you can't get hit or you'll die one shot no matter your defense if you survive forget about living cause you'll be left with a spec of health and it'll just wombo combo you to oblivion.
So btw boosting specific types of shots is important with bow as you end up getting a lot of low numbers if you don't Like peircer ammo boost spread boost etc
