if you have a home charger and don't ever use supercharger to charge your car (which means you don't sit in your car waiting for charging), a phone holder beside the screen is much more useful than premium connectivity.

Right after I got my car, I turned off the Premium Connectivity for a couple days. I wanted to experience it before I got used to the upgrade level. It was… ok.
For me (retired, living on a pension), the $10 is acceptable. It’s not $10 for streaming video, $10 for streaming music, $10 for Live View camera, and $10 for satellite maps. That would be a bigger pill (and bill) to swallow. It’s $10 for all that and more. Far cheaper than my cell phone plan. And it’s in my car. Which is pretty cool.
Standard is ok. If Tesla bumps up the price to $40+/month, I may give Premium up. In the meantime, I truly enjoy the perks Premium gives, and the looks and features is a great fit with the rest of the tech of the car.

The likely reason why you experienced delays in video playback over Bluetooth is Bluetooth is limited to 3 Mbps, but Netflix may end up streaming at rate on the order of 5 Mbps. The reality is Bluetooth may not achieve that data rate.

The event notification on Sentry Mode sounds like a missed opportunity for sure. But also sounds like a fix with a software update. Plenty of security cameras allow you to change the “stream and recording” or notifications for specific events (ie a person vs car vs animal)

Bluetooth delay is maybe based on the chip they use or the software. When I connect to my 2011 Corolla Bluetooth audio is synchronized with my phone video. However, on my newer 2014 odyssey the audio is delay by like 2seconds 😢. I try to find the answer to this in the internet but I could not get a definite answer.

Updated comment: I got my new model Y last month and my Premium connectivity trial just ran out. I find Standard Connectivity works very well for me and that is all I need. I just do short trips around my local town and just use the FM radio in the model Y while driving. I never used anything else daily during my 30 day trial - most of the stuff don't work while driving.
Yes, I did try everything and found I don't need it in my driving travels. I have most of this on my home PC which I use daily. The standard NAV maps are also good enough for my travels.
Note: I have the vehicle connected to my home WIFI so when I pull into my garage, I do get most the premium items if I want to look at something like You Tube.
Yes I know I could use my cell phone, but I do not want to. I would not use the premium stuff anyway in the car and i have personal reasons not to use the phone.
So i am saving 100 dollars a year for something else (accessories) by not duplicating what I have on my home PC which I have been using them for many years.
    Take care.

And rideshare drivers are often told to meet the riders at certain parts of apartment complexes, farms, etc. that are not always easy to see without Satellite maps. Also rideshare drivers can actually get bigger tips from streaming music through their Tesla without a call, the next rideshare request, app notification, etc disturbing the music.

So if you're on an Android, specifically a Samsung phone, you can use bixby's routines to automatically turn on your Wi-Fi hotspot when it sees the Bluetooth connection. The car will then connect via Wi-Fi to the phone's hotspot. Google and Siri don't seem to have the ability to automate this yet. But it's an easy way to just keep your connectivity and not pay extra.
If you have a rooted Android device you could probably do this with Tasker as well. Bixby is not a great voice assistant but the routines are much more robust than Google or Siri's.

That latency is definitely the Tesla. Video uses wifi along with an audio channel. So they arrive at the same time to your phone. But the audio gets slowed down (audio or video gets slowed down) so they loose sync. Which is it? Does the audio lag the video? This should be adjustable in software on the Tesla and they should be doing this.

Drew, 11:05, “I can’t believe you won’t spend $100 a year after spending so much on the car.” After what I spent on 2nd mS, that price is insignificant.
I also pay about $6/mo for Sirius radio because it offers news I want to hear. Financial status is a factor, age too. I’m as old as your parents. Life is too short. Wifey loves EV acceleration so has a Lucid on order. Hopefully early 2024 my Aptera will arrive.
