If you're interested in either the Sunny Bike or the Costco bike which is currently the ProForm CBC tour de france you may find this video informative. Each of these peloton alternative indoor cycling bikes offers a great bang for the buck. Both of these indoor cycling bikes are under $400, but each one is quiet a bit different. If you like old school cycling bikes, the Sunny SB1002 may be the answer you've been looking for. there are no electronics on this bike whatsoever, and you can build it out with your own Sunny bike cadence sensor and tablet and run whatever classes you'd like.
The Proform tour de france cbc on the other hand has it all out of the box. you get digital magnetic resistance which is very similar to the peloton bike plus, and you also can join live classes that automatically adjust this resistance for you.
I hope this video helps you better understand what the differences and similarities of these two popular peloton bike alternatives are!

When they remodeled my middle school, they bought like 40 of the sunny 1002 for gym class in a separate room. I absolutely loved the look of them and how the quality of how they felt, sturdy and heavy. I figured if they could last through 1000’s of middle school students, it could hold up for years for me! (Mind you I was like 15 at the time). 15 years later I bought a sunny bike (30yo)and I love it. Yes magnetic is quiet but for some reason I love the cow leather pad, the look of the bike, the wheel, compact!I love it!!

Great video, really helped guide me toward what I want. I'm wondering about the Sunny belt vs chain: I'm a novice in this area and I would assume chain is better than a belt, but the chain model on Amazon is cheaper- leading me to think it's not as great an option as I initially thought. I'm 6'2 220lbs, and I want to do hills. Any suggestions as it relates to the chain vs belt feature?
    Much appreciated.

    • @TailHappyTV

Get the belt drive, it's better, quieter, and less maintenance.

I would get the chain unless you are in an apartment and want real quiet. A standard outdoor bike has a chain drive and they take some upkeep but again as the man says whatever fits you!

so other than noise how big of a deal is there between the Sunny having resistance and the Pro-form being magnetic? Is one likely to need maintenance sooner or be more open to having issues?
I picked up the Pro-Form a week ago and am happy so far, but was considering returning it if I could find a great deal on some used options like the sunny because the 49lb fly wheel is apparently good (read the fly wheel is about 22lbs for the pro-form). I read a heavier fly wheel is usually better.
This is my first bike, just looking for exercise in the winter. Would love to hear your thoughts. GREAT reviews!!!

Check out the video I posted today with sunny vs peloton, thanks man. Sunny does make a magnetic resistance bike too, I want to test that one soon. Overall I think magnetic resistance feels better and is simply superior in general assuming the max resistance can turn up high enough. Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing your appreciation!

@@TailHappyTV Thanks for the quick reply. I decided I am just going to stick with the Pro-Form CBX that I purchased a couple weeks ago. The fly wheel might not be as heavy as others like the Sunny you reviewed, but I'm happy with the riding experience so far, the magnetic resistance is nice and it seems to meet my needs of just getting some basic exercise- so why rock the boat.

Being that Proform is a sister company to Norditrak. Both part of Icon fitness and use the same Ifit membership, I would be curious to see how a sub $400 Proform bike compares to a $1600 (15i)- $2000 (22i) Norditrack "studio" bike. The Norditrak will have more levels of resistance (upto 22 I believe) as well as built in screen & incline/decline feature, but how much better quality is the Norditrak built ? Take away the screen & incline feature is it $1000 better ?

    • @ttattx

you pay more for incline, and the noise that comes with it - also terrible customer service when it breaks... and it will break

  • @mauriciorosales1259

Not a criticism, just an observation/ sugestión. Get some pedal power meters, then you can compare the max resistance numerically between bikes. ( of course pedal power meters also include cadence). I realize most people looking for an inexpensive spin bike don’t spend $1K on power meters, but road cyclists who spin have lots of extra parts ( kind of like your spin bike collection)

I'm 5ft and have an inseam of about 27 to 28 inches. Could you measure the distance between the lowest seat setting down to the pedal and distance from seat to handlebars on the Sunny bike? Also, how does the max resistance on the Echelon compare to the Sunny? Trying to find a bike that will give enough resistance for hill riding but will also fit me since I'm short. My choices are limited! Thanks for all your reviews!

Hey I bought the Joroto X2 recently and I'm still within the 30 days where I can return it on Amazon though it's getting kind of close cause I bought it a few weeks ago I think since the Joroto X2 and ProForm are about the same in price can you please make a comparison video between the two? really the deal breaker would be if the ProForm has higher resistance than the other, I mean if the ProForm had higher resistance and then you couple that with the automatic resistance mechanism I might have to return the Joroto X2, also I want to know between the two which one has higher handlebars, low handlebars would be a deal breaker for me.

dude, i just unboxed and filmed the joroto x2 today, video coming soon. i will tell you the max resistance on the joroto x2 is much higher than the proform tour de france cbc, more coming soon. i think the joroot handlebars are higher and more adjustable too, will need to compare side by side. hope this helps, thanks for watching.

@@TailHappyTV the max resistance is noticeably more on the Joroto X2? Wow! I say that because when I take the Joroto to the Max resistance and ride out of the saddle I feel like it could use a little bit more resistance certainly not any less. I'm wondering if you had any thoughts about customer service... I can tell you my research into the Nordictrack/ProForm/Freemotion et. al products are all given 0-1 stars out of 5 for their customer support - thousands and thousands of people call it out as being the worst -- however, I see too, that Peloton CS is not much better - anyone have any thing good to say about the aftercare - cuz what you didn't mention is what happens when these budget bikes break... and they will break, eventually - then what? maybe I should buy 5 proform bikes for 2K after tax, still in line w/ one Peloton - and when it breaks, just throw it away? how does that sound?
