Am a new owner to used 2001 ram 1500 and i came across ur channel. Very kool to have ur video as a guide to making repairs on my ram. Thanks for all great info brother!!!
Awesome - welcome to the "Ram family"! I'm certainly no expert...just a regular guy trying to help others...but I'm glad to have you as part of my channel! I'll be happy to help in any way that I can. Thanks a lot for watching, and enjoy your "new" truck!
Thank you so much Matt! I had the same problem with the aftermarket blower that you did, and you gave me the confidence to cut away at the bell housing and make it work. I appreciate your effort in producing the video. Andy
You're welcome, Andy! I'm so glad you found this video helpful and were able to complete your repair on your own. Receiving comments like yours always make me feel rewarded for making the effort to produce my videos. Thanks for watching!
Great video. 2002 Ram original fan motor and resistor. An additional consideration. My fan was blowing weak, then the low speed quit working, then mediums, so I only had high. A different video directed me to the resistor, which I replaced, but got to thinking the reason it may have blown was because my fan was wearing out and putting a load on the resistor. I pulled the fan and sure enough, it was very hard to turn. Probably the root cause of both the weak air and the blown resistor. So, I recommend checking the fan also if you have a blown resistor.
Thank you. The only thing I had to that wasn't in the video was splice and connect the wires for the plug & reuse old fan. My new one only had wires. This repair was fairly simple! I'll be looking at more of your videos for more repairs!
Thanks for this vid. I was easily able to get the back screw on my 00 2500 with a 9mm socket, 3" extension & swivel joint. All were 1/4" drive. Unfortunately, the door that controls fresh air (furthest to the passenger side) is cracked and will have to be replaced.
thank you for this idea. it saved me on this project. I was really about to go crazy using the shorty phillips screwdriver and I do not have a flexible screwdriver ,etc. Thanks again!!!!!
My new motor came from O'Reilly's. Had to reuse the electrical connector. The new motor had crimp connectors so I just cut off the wires from the old motor, strip them back a 1/4 inch and crimp them on. the old motor had black and blue wires the new motor had black and red wires I matched up the black wires. I had to reuse the old gasket. Thanks for pointing that out.
Matt: Great job thank you ! Can you say if the job of fixing / replacing a broken recirculate/fresh air door is same on 2nd Gen as 3rd Gen ? I suspect my door is broken & has fallen blocking airflow. I can't locate any videos showing this air door fix for 2nd Gen Rams, strange. Also is door just above fan mount area ? Another Q: one forum post mentioned the AC evap coil / heater core getting built up crud, dust that blocked airflow & solved by rinsing with garden hose that restored air flow. Are you aware of that issue ? Appreciate any feedback ! David
+BBKlima That usually indicates a vacuum problem, as I believe those switches are operated by engine vacuum. There is also a common problem with the blend door actuator not functioning properly, but that has to do with the temperature of the air not adjusting like you want it to. If you're just having problems with the air distribution controls, I'd start by looking for a loose/broken vacuum hose. I had that exact same problem years ago....the air distribution would actually change on its own from vents to floor or defrost all by itself when I accelerated hard....and it turned out to be a broken vacuum hose. Good luck!
As mentioned in the video, I ordered my fan motor from www.rockauto.com. The part number I ordered is 75888, and you can view it at the following link: www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4935108&cc=1366590&jsn=1075 Thanks for watching!
Gerardo Ceballos I just responded to your question on one of my other videos, but I figured I'd post a response here too in case someone else was wondering. I actually just use my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone to record the video, and I use Windows Movie Maker to compile the footage and edit. Not very high-tech, but it works for me. Thanks for watching!
Our local Dodge dealership wants $120 just to drop the motor and remove the debris clogging it. Anything they need to do, like clean vents, will be extra. So it's well worth doing this yourself - if you can.
Wow, no kidding! You could lower the fan motor, clear debris, and re-install it in under half an hour. I agree...this is definitely something anyone can do in very little time and save a lot of money. Thanks for watching!
In my experience, that's indicative of a vacuum leak somewhere. I believe the dash vent controls are vacuum-actuated. I had a similar problem years ago - under hard acceleration, the HVAC air would randomly switch from the dash vents to the defrost, without me ever touching the controls. It ended up being related to a broken vacuum hose in the engine compartment. I'd start by tracing your vacuum hoses to see if you have an issue there. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
Matt Payne ya I actually found the leak it was dry rotted but I don’t no were it goes too i Evan took the dash out I have a video about it were it shows the line if you no what it goes too that would be very helpful
One question, someone is selling me a 1997 dodge ram ss/t for $1000.00 firm no title it has 350,000 miles but it runs and drives like a charm is it a good deal
+juan castaneda That's a tough question for me to answer for you. How would you define a "good deal"? That is probably a fair price based on Kelly Blue Book value, so I suppose I'd at least say it's not a bad deal. I think there is always value to a pickup truck that runs, particularly if you need that vehicle for the work that you do. However, with no title and 350,000 miles, I would say you could probably find another truck for the same price with fewer miles and a clean, transferrable title. If you know the owner and trust him/her, and they can provide some vehicle history, you won't be risking a whole lot of money. But, I would proceed with caution if you are making the purchase from a stranger. Good luck!
dodge wanted 160 bucks for a new blower motor lmao....i told them yeah right!!!! not!! bought one from auto zone 65 bucks with lifetime warranty..............
Thank you this is the best video on replacing the blower I've seen.

Your attention to detail is awesome. Your video is better than 1a auto in terms of details. Thanks again!

Great video. Thanks. Doing this and the heater resister this week. The camera work was great to be under the dash so far.

Spot on accurate. Good advice also (especially about the flexible screwdriver). Thanks for the video
Thanks, and you're very welcome!
Great video man helped me so much. That back screw on the resistor was a pain in the a$$ but it worked perfectly.👍👍

i did exactly like you did except i tried the new fan motor before i installed it!
Thanks. That was a pain to video, but I do appreciate it. I'm ready to get started on mine now. Thanks again.
Any fixes for the position of the blower (defrost, vents, floor) not always functioning?

+Matt Payne thanks. I hate vacuum problems! I already fixed the actuator with the heatertreater aluminum replacement for the actuator.
Motor was sqelling at first now it only works on high setting. Is it still just the motor that I need to replace?
JGG1701 it’s your blower motor resistor. I have a video on my channel for that issue.

Could you please post me a link to the video?
Thanks

Ok my 01 Dodge Ram 1500 it only blows out the defrost vent nowhere else does anybody know what that is I have no clue why
