Great video. 2002 Ram 2500 original fan motor and resistor- An additional consideration. My fan was blowing weak, then the low speed quit working, then mediums, so I only had high. Saw your video first, which directed me correctly to the resistor, which I replaced, but got to thinking the reason it may have blown was because my fan was wearing out and putting a load on the resistor. I pulled the fan and sure enough, it was very hard to turn. Probably the root cause of both the weak air and the blown resistor. Ending up replacing the fan motor also. So, I recommend you consider pulling and checking the fan motor as well if you have a blown resistor- especially if it is the original or been in a long time.
I was going to change out the selector switch till I saw your video! WOW, I would have made a big mistake. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO, YOU SAVED ME A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY. COWBOY JOLEE DID IT DONE IT AND ITS WORKING
Got my changed. Thanks for the video! Pine needles in mine..was smoking through the vents last winter one day. After that only worked fan on four only. Thought maybe the blower motor burned up. Blower working on all four settings now.
I wanted to tell you thank you so much for your video now my fans to working on all speeds now! This was so very helpful save me a lot of moolah thank you again! Very good and thorough video!
@handy-man off topic, but where did you get the cover for your dash? Thank you for this how to. I replaced the fan and was going to buy this part as well and do it at the same time. However, I had multiple friends tell me that I didn't need this part, it was just the fan. LoL. I will eventually learn to listen when I'm telling me to doing something and trust me. I'm small and have small hands... Switching out the fan was a pain in the rear, especially that back bolt. I think Dodge went out of their way to put things in the most inconvenient places and make something that would be simple, just a headache. (ie: windshield wipers and motor and the placement of the charcoal canister just makes me smh. Especially on a work truck.) Thank you again.
@@cardiacjunkie so I bought the truck with that dash cover. Most likely to hide how terribly the dash was cracked as you can see in this video at about the 4 minute mark haha ua-cam.com/video/DQw8DvxdHdc/v-deo.htmlsi=0urySBzogYUZUBiB
BIG question: 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck WHERE IS THE DARN THING??? I have watched 8 different videos and they all say different locations. I know it wouild be simple if I could just figure out where it is at. Not under the khood, not behind glove box that I took out, can't see it under the dash HELP HELP HELP
anyone know why these fail, i bought my 2001 ram van 2500 brand new only 5 miles on it , i had ordered to my specs. i have replaced atleast 10 of these resistors over the years and just had to replace another 1.
My guess is that these are the "weak link" in that electrical system. So they are designed to fail/ blow out when there has a power surge instead of a much more expensive part. Plus that's why it's so easy to access. This is all just a guess but auto makers design stuff to do this all the time.
Because the fan motor is pulling too many amps for one reason or another and blowing the resistor. Usually caused by older fans that get gummed with dirt and debris that make it hard to get going. New fan... Maybe a short in the wiring or windings of the motor. Hard to say without being there to diagnose.
Bit late to the party but I'm going to describe my problem the a/c decides when it wants to work and I've lost most my controls for the a/c I live in south Louisiana a/c is a must at one point I could hear the blower running it had a small vibrate noise now I don't even hear it anymore
I just bought a 99 and the blower motor stops if you only have it on 1 or 2. You have to keep it on 3 or 4 and honestly I don't think it blows as hard as it should, so I ordered one of these first. I'll order a new blower motor next if it still doesn't work.
There is absolutely zero reason why this should any dislikes. This was an incredibly helpful video. Thank you, OP.
Thanks! I'm glad you appreciated it!

Nice job!!! Great simple, clear diagnosis and fix!!!! WELL DONE, SIR.
Thank you!

Thanks for posting this. Exactly what is wrong with mine. Only high works. So headed to the parts store tomorrow. :-)

Good video, never thought about checking the resistor, might just be my problem. Thank you
Definitely check it out. Typically that's the problem if your ran only works at certain speeds.
Where do you get that carpet thing on top of the dash?
Thank you!!! I replaced my motor😡😵😵but still need to do this I guess, great video!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 5 Stars❗️Thank your so much. My wife would say “I’m cold”. 2 was the slowest we had. Now we have all 4 speeds.
Glad I could help you get it fixed!!
I just changed my speed controller along with the blower. Pain in the butt!
is this the same on a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Van? 5.2L engine
Yeah it should be the same procedure

Thanks👍 the other videos are useless and one guy removed the glovebox?
Glad I could help!
Thank you! Easy peasy.
Glad you found it helpful!
My old one came out in chalky chunks. Guess it was time for a new one. Haha
Hope this fixes my problem, thanks. Too bad the parts so expensive.
Glad I could help!
Nice nice 👍
Where can I purchase this??
Very helpful. Thanks for saving me $$$
I'm glad I could help!
Cool man thanks for video
No problem! Hopefully it was helpful

@@Handy-Mann That sir, would be a very good guess. Makes sense too.

Yeah I would definitely start with this resistor first. Much cheaper and easier of a job.
Thanks heeps!
Thanks 👍
You're welcome!
Just did mine on my 2001dodge 5.9 2500
