That means according to 1 Peter 3:19; during those three days he was in his Father's kingdom and proclaimed his saving gospel to the dead. In him, in the spirit, he also went home and preached to the spirits in prison. 1 Peter 4:6; For this reason the gospel was preached to the dead, that they might be judged according to men but have life according to God in the spirit. I could imagine that prison is for people who have not yet accepted the gospel and need a cleansing of their souls. Revelation 20:15; And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. I don't mean hell, that is a misinterpretation. Greetings

I believe Peter is referring to those who were in hades, Whig is not hell. Both the righteous and the unrighteousness, who died before Christ, went to hades because the way into heaven was not opened yet. Hades does not exist anymore. Today we are judged when we die and either have eternal life or we don’t. The idea of eternal consciousness suffering is not Biblical. I do believe that those who do not enter the kingdom of God will suffering to varying degrees, be ultimately will be destroyed. Thanks for the input. Insightful stuff. God bless.
