The subject of the end times is fascinating and should also be motivating. One thing it should not be is aggravating; it shouldn’t produce fear but rather hope. Some of the young believers in the church at Thessalonica were perturbed and afraid thinking they were facing the tribulation and that loved ones who had died had missed the rapture Paul told them about. Paul’s concern wasn’t just doctrinal but pastoral-he wanted to comfort the Thessalonians. Let’s dig deeper into this doctrine.

Check this out: Jesus specifically told disciples of the rapture, "But understand this: If the owner of the house (Satan) had known at what time of night the thief (Christ) was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
Jesus absolutely can Not be talking about His 2nd Coming here because the ruler of this world (Satan) knows the bible states Christ's 2nd Coming is at the end of the 7 year tribulation. God is choosing to sneakily/suddenly break into Satan's domain and take something. Catching Satan off guard. We all know God doesn't have to do it this way but He is clearly choosing to do it this way. This IS the rapture and can not be the 2nd Coming. And this verse comes right after the verses saying "One will be taken and one left" which Seal-the-Deal of what is being talked about! Isn't that amazing!!

Ephesians 2; 8-10 Our salvation was purchased through His work on the cross. A pure motive for Godly living would be out of gratitude for his work on Calvary, and not to somehow earn our own righteousness. God bless.

@@DougStewartOnline Study your own belief. Do you believe the wrath is the tribulation? Or do you understand it is not the tribulation and that the tribulation will be over when the wrath periods begin? Hence, no such thing as a pre trib rapture.
IF your not 'ready' it makes no difference IF the Rapture is true or not. If you name isn't written in the Lamb's Book of Life you will go thru the Tribulation for sure. IF the Rapture is true and you miss the Rapture of the Church it won't be because you believed in the wrong version of it. It will be because your name isn't written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Jesus, first and foremost. Above ALL else and EVERYTHING else.

I have studied carefully both sides of the spectrum (pre and post tribulation). For me post tribulation sounds more in alignment with the scripture and the reason is that it's human nature to avoid pain--no body want to go through the tribulation; but remember, first century Christians went through hell on earth especially under Nero where countless loss their lives for the faith. It that was a fact, what makes you believe that we're exempted from tribulation? That's a belief that came about after the 1800's. No church fathers or early Christians believed such thing as pre tribulation.

I approached listening to this sermon with a great respect of Skip's teachings. His sermons have become some of my favorites and I am regularly amazed by the depth of his biblical knowledge. When I saw there was a sermon on the rapture, I was very curious to hear his position on it. As I began to listen, it became clear quickly that his position was a pre-tribulation view. One thing that was said 6:12 into the sermon is that he will come for the church and that event will have no signs that precede it. I don't understand how it could be said that that event (the rapture) will have no signs. When we look at Matthew 24 says about the rapture it seems clear to me that there will be a very clear sign. See below:
Matthew 24:29-31 "But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun, will be darkened, and the moon will not give it's light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. AND THEN the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other."
This passage is clearly talking about the rapture and it has specific events (signs) that precede it. The sun and moon are darkened and the stars fall from the sky. Somewhere else that it talks about the sun and moon being darkened and stars falling from the sky is in Revelation 6:12-13 when the sixth seal is talked about. In fact, when you look at the things that Jesus says will happen in Matthew 24; He is speaking about the same events in the same order as the events that take place in the seals from Revelation 6.
If it can be shown from the passage above that the rapture happens after the sun and moon are darkened and that that event is the sixth seal of the seals that precede the trumpets and bowls of wrath in Revelations; how could it be that the rapture would be a pre-tribulation rapture? It seems to me that it would be pre-wrath rapture. I believe that the seals are what should be considered the tribulation and the trumpets/vials should be considered God's wrath. Tribulation and God's wrath are not the same thing. When you compare them, the seals with the exception of the sixth seal are all events that are tied directly to the anti-christ and lead up to the persecution of God's people. The sixth seal is the means by which God steps in and cuts the persecution short. From that point on, the wrath of God begins to be poured out on the earth immediately after His church is raptured. All of the events that happen from that point are undeniably supernatural God ordained events.
I'm sure that many may disagree with me, but this is what I believe makes the most sense. By believing that we would be raptured out of the world before any of the events of the seals, trumpets, & vials/bowls happen; it becomes very difficult to not be complacent about them. If we may very possibly be going through the events of the tribulation (seals 1-6), I would certainly not want to be unprepared to do so. We should be praying that God will prepare us to suffer for the sake of our King. When I think about what it would be like to deny the mark of the beast; I realize that in that moment I will not only be saying no to the mark, but also to my ability to pay bills, buy groceries, and pay the mortgage. That single decision will essentially make my family homeless and it would be one of the most terrifying decisions I would ever have to make. I do not want to do that on sheer will and determination. I believe that my flesh will fail the test and I will only be able to pass it with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The history of the any moment/fly away/rapture false doctrine is about the same length as your reply. I was in the "rapture cult" from 1978--95. I prayed for the Truth & the LORD led me to it. I've been taught & believe that Michael is the Restrainer as he has been holding the AC/son of perdition/satan in Heaven since Jesus told him to "get thee behind Me." I had a dream of the rapture when I was 6 years old. Probably before I had even heard about it. I dreamt I was on a porch with my grandmother and cousins. It was raining. The rain stopped and I looked up to see the clouds part. I saw a man coming thru the clouds and I said- look that’s Jesus. And he reached out to take my hand. I was transported to a beautiful place with a huge waterfall. We came down to sit on a rock at the edge at the top of the waterfall. Hundreds of children came Running up to us and wanted to hug Jesus. He hugged everyone and was laughing . It was such a joyous moment. Then I woke up. I feel it was a gift to me so that I would always hold him close to me. I’m 55 now and I always have. I’m can’t wait for the real rapture to happen. Thank you for this hopeful message. I used to argue with those online not believing in the rapture or had other views than my own. Then I read 2nd Timothy and now I just pray for them . A lot to f people will be caught off guard , I’m afraid.

Why does he use every single verse used to describe the second coming, for the rapture???

Therefore to argue the church fathers believed in a pre-trib rapture doesn’t work if they universally taught the church would face the antichrist. Meaning that they either didn’t believe in a rapture or the rapture they believed in was different than the modern understanding of the pre-trib position. I think this is worth exploring and asking about. If you don’t agree, that’s fine, let’s link arms at the cross and show the world the unity we have. But while hearing the message a question did arise to me: in 1 Corinthians 15:52 it says (KJV) "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." As the rapture shall happen before the second coming of Christ, which is also predicted as with a trumpet sound, how does the adjective "last" fit in here? Isn't the last trumpet the one we've been told to hear at the second coming of Christ? Does this verse eventually indicate a rapture that does takes place at the end of the tribulations?
The Last Trumpet in 1 Corinthians and the Trumpet call of God in 1 Thessalonians are the same.
Those who can hear the trumpet sound will be caught up in the rapture.
This is a Pre-Tribulation rapture. There is no Post-Tribulation rapture .
The day when the rapture happen will be the beginning of the 7 years of tribulation.
On the last day of the tribulation, Jesus will come back to reign on the earth.
This'' last trumpet '' is also known as the trumpet call of God.
The seven trumpets in the Book of Revelation are known as Angelic Trumpets.
When the last trumpet sound, we will be taken up to heaven to meet the lord.
Meaning no more trumpet call from God. This is the first and the last trumpet call.
If you miss this last trumpet call, you will miss the rapture and remain on earth.
If you are caught up, you will stay for seven years in heaven with the lord Jesus and
then come back to earth with Jesus on the last day of the seven years of tribulation.
If there is a Post-tribulation rapture, you will see your friends moving up to heaven while
you and your Pre-tribulation rapture saints and Jesus are coming back to earth for the battle of Armageddon.

I also read that 4 volume book-set by the professor Emeritus Keneth Wuest when in my 20s and just starting to seriously study the Greek New testament. there is the 3rd book called "Untranslatble riches of the Greek New Testament" in regard to the Rapture, where it appears the Greek defines the word Parusia as a visting king is arriving to a city and some of its inhabitants comes out to meet him and they turn around and accompany Him back to the city.

There has been a red-tailed hawk perched behind my home near a pond where Canadian geese natch their young. I grew up with the idea that a hawk was a raptor. The key to when the rapture takes place is this verse.

A couple of points regarding this scripture. First, God has to make known to a believer the details concerning the mystery of God.

Second point, Re 10:7 states, in the days the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel. The word days is non specific to any given day. In the 12 chapter of the book of Revelation, you have the manchild being caught up to the throne of God, Re 12:5, and the remnant of the woman seed in verse 17. Who have to be martyred by refusing the mark of the beast, Re 20:4.

he is talking about the resurrection. that, all those who are alive and in Christ at
that time will be caught up together with them. there is your "rapture".

All you've done with your comment is type out (copy/paste) a few verses, _HOWEVER,_ I think you misunderstand just what it is they're saying.
@Kman. please let me explain. In 2Thes2:1, the coming of our Lord is tied together with the point "our gathering unto Him". See ESV version: "Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him".
This means rapture occurs at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Next, Paul stated that this happens only AFTER the Man of Lawlessness is revealed. This means rapture is after Abomination of Desolation.
Next, 1Cor15:23 clearly states that our resurrection (i.e. rapture) occurs at Christ's Second Coming.

You've really only given a summary statement as to WHAT you believe the text to say, but you've provided no path to get there. You're bringing no context or taking no exegetical approach to the text, but here...
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
"THAT DAY" found in *vs 3* cannot point back to what's found in *vs 1,* and WHY? Basic grammar & sentence structure won't allow it. "THAT DAY" points to the nearest antecedent ("the day') which is found in *vs 2.* We don't get the luxury to try & match it with s/thing in an effort to find support for a narrative. We can't JUMP back over *vs 2* & try to tag it to s/thing found in *vs 1.* Sorry, but that dog won't hunt. Let's break down just what those three verses tell us...
*Vs 1* clearly is pointing to the RAPTURE of the church, i.e. "our gathering together unto him.", but notice what's said in *vs 2* of the believers...they were "shaken in mind" & "troubled", right? Well that alone deflates your premise, for the RAPTURE is s/thing that will bring joy & bliss, & that's the OPPOSITE of what they were feeling & thinking @ that time.
You see, a bogus letter had been circulating amongst the Thessalonians that the "day of Christ" had begun, i.e "AT HAND" as *vs 2* says. This "day of Christ" is the tribulation period, *NOT* the rapture. "At hand" speaks of s/thing that is in progress, not s/thing that is going to happen "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" like we read in *I Cor 15;52.* Making sense yet? "At hand" would be s/thing MEASURABLE.
So in *vs 3* Paul is saying, "THAT DAY" (the tribulation), will NOT come until...
*1* The rapture takes place, the ""falling away"
*2* The man of sin is revealed.
Now, don't get all frazzled & say, "The falling away isn't the rapture...", _especially_ if you don't even take the time to explain your u/standing of it w/i the *CONTEXT* of the passage. In SHORT, if you were to look at *vss 7,8,* they reinforce the very thing...
*=====>* *Vs 7* "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be _taken out of the way."_
*=====>* *Vs 8* "And *_T H E N_* shall that Wicked be revealed..."

@@Kman. Hi, I learned many times in church and Bible studies that context is paramount. My fellow believers and I are taught "text without context is pretext".
A very important context that the first century disciples have is the Old Testament understanding of "Day of the Lord". Hence when our Lord Jesus Christ gave the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, the disciples would understand that the Day of the Lord is mentioned in Mat24:29 because the signs mentioned there are widely understood from the Old Testament. This is immediately followed by the appearance of the Lord in Mat24:30 and the gathering of the elect from whole earth in Mat24:31. Christ has therefore added to the Old Testament understanding that Day of the Lord by stating that the elect would be gathered during that time.
This understanding is further affirmed in Revelation 6 and 7 by our Lord where it is clearly stated that Christ appears on the Day of the Lord (Wrath of God period) at the Sixth Seal. The gathering of the elect is shown as the great multitude in Revelation 7 who sang the song of salvation in Rev7:10 ".. and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”. The multitude rejoiced at their salvation, i.e., resurrection of the dead, rapture of the living. When one of the Elders asked John who these people are and where they come from, John requested for an answer whereupon he was told that the great multitude are those who come out of the Great Tribulation. This can be tied back to Mat24 where our Lord gave so many signs and warned of the great tribulation after the abomination of desolation. In fact, Mat24 and Rev6 could be lined up nicely since they both come from Jesus Christ. The important context is understand on "Day of the Lord" concept that is deep within the Jewish understanding. I got a very good study on this from the Zion's Hope Ministries UA-cam channel and you may wish to look them up. Basically, the Jewish understanding is that Day of the Lord would bring judgement to those on earth and salvation for believers.
This understanding is echoed by Apostle Paul in 2Thes2 and in 1Cor15 where Day of the Lord would be tied to salvation, which is resurrection of the dead and rapture of the living. To repeat 2Thes2:1 (ESV), Paul clearly stated "Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him,..". Hence our being gathered to Him is tied to coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul then goes on to assure the Thessalonians that they have not missed the event because it will be preceded by revealing of the Man of Lawlessness, which is also mentioned by our Lord Jesus Christ in Mat24:15 about Abomination of Desolation.
Next, Paul is consistent in 1Cor15, which is the famous chapter about resurrection and THE RAPTURE as mentioned in 1Cor15:51-52 "Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed."
Very importantly in the context of resurrection and the rapture in 1Cor15, Paul gave the ORDER of Resurrection in 1Cor15:23 "But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ." It is therefore clear that the resurrection of the dead and the living is at Christ's second coming.

@@ronaldlim8224 First off, you took a pass on addressing the explanation of *II Thess 2,* & that's ironic, because w/your reply just now, you're stressing how much *CONTEXT* is important. I too would agree, yet you're skating right over it. I noted that *II Thess 2:1* DOES speak of the rapture, but the next *TWO* verses do *NOT* deal with the rapture. You've taken a pass on bringing a rebuttal of ANY sort.
You then go on to say, _" Christ has therefore added to the Old Testament understanding that Day of the Lord by stating that the elect would be gathered during that time."_ but you're begging the question. It's common with those who align with a "POST-trib" position...too common sadly.
You see, you've not made the case that the "ELECT" in *Matt 24* are the CHURCH...it can't be done. I u/stand the allure in thinking the bible is all about us, but it's not. It may be *FOR* us, but not *ABOUT* us. "Elect" is not a technical word, & the *E N T I R E* dialogue screams JEWS, not church, so your entire premise is skewed, & your u/standing of the text is flawed.
"DAY OF THE LORD" by the way is not an event that is confined to some 24 hour period as we measure time. It begins with the tribulation, & _EXTENDS_ through the entire 1,000 year reign of Christ. These few verses alone refute the notion that it speaks only of Christ's 2nd coming...there's MORE if you need 'em, but here...
*Is 4:2* “In THAT DAY shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.”
*Is **10:20* “And it shall come to pass in THAT DAY, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.”
*VS 27* “And it shall come to pass in THAT DAY, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
*Joel **3:18* "“And it shall come to pass in THAT DAY, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim”.
*VS 20* “But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation”.

I Thessalonians settles it for me. There are so much in there that is taken straight from Matthew 24 (Jesus' words). Paul was obviously well aware of Jesus' teaching. Paul writes of a snatching away where those alive are caught away to Jesus in the air and we will be with the Lord. Then Paul goes on to say we will not be subject to God's wrath. The tribulation spoken of in Daniel then detailed more in Revelation is clearly God's wrath. Not Satan's doing, not evil. God's wrath poured out on the earth.
