    Mate, the fact you put this on UA-cam with comments on, good on you. I am pretty much in the same situation as you. I some projects around my house I eventually want to do but needed a starting point first so I downloaded a build plan for a portable work bench. I started cutting up my plywood with my circular saw and a guide, but kept getting slightly out of square, so I went a got myself a track saw. This made a huge difference, now everything is straight but also square. Made a bit of a botch up in a couple of places, but I have more plywood and will redo those parts until I am happy, and that was the point of doing this current project. I also went to Bangood and got a couple of squares and other things. Found them all to be good and at a reasonable price. Look forward to watching your progress.

      Thank you so much! One thing I wanted to do with this channel was show the failures, too. Something to help others and get some help myself. I love the idea of woodworking and really wanted to become a part of a community where people learn and help each other. I'm so glad I did it!
      A track saw is on my list of things to get, but I do have a table saw in my sights, too. I have to learn to plan before I build haha!

      I was also looking at a table saw, but am very restricted for room, basically I have to take my tools outside and do my work. So for me the track saw was for me the best option. I think my next purchase will be a thicknesser, and I will build a mobile bench for it. @C.C.Woodwork

      @ApriliaRSV4F I totally get that! We don't all have the room for building indoors. Hopefully, the weather is better for outdoor builds where you are. It rains a lot, here!

    My favorite quote from a mentor of mine was "Don't let perfection be the enemy of good". I.e. don't be afraid that it won't be perfect, just be afraid that it won't be. Especially for the first bench, first of anything really. The second bench will be worlds easier to build once you have one already.
    Every mistake is a lesson. Listen to that part of your brain that says I should have worn protection and done this outside. Solid ideas coming from a good place; pause to put on protection and change your setup. If it doesn't feel right, adjust.

      @machine5464 Thank you, that's a great quote! I've not heard that before. Spot on! I have another 2 benches to make. So far, I think the benches will be in a "U" shape around the shed and all level with each other. After a lot of thought, I'm actually really excited to get back into building and learning!
      ... and PPE is definitely at the too of my lost! Haha!

    Everyone struggles, you're not alone, even if you sometimes feel that way. Support is available. Great work on the workbench and even more commendable is the fact that you put it out onto UA-cam, fair play to you sir. Best of luck going forward. Keep making and keep progressing. Remember progress not perfection.

      @k.hussain360 Thank you! I'm feeling a bit better about it after taking a break and receiving such awesome comments from people with great advice! I'll be trying to finish the project as soon as I can and hopefully build something using the workbench. I have some ideas that should hopefully be pretty simple to make! 😊

    When ever doing anything to the circular saw always remove battery lol

    • @C.C.Woodwork
      @C.C.Woodwork  7 днів тому +1

      @johnrutherford4042 haha! The original video was around 70 mins long. Most of that, the battery was out. I cropped most of that out and then forgot to take it back out for more adjustments. I dealt with a lot of my stupidity in this project 🤦‍♂️🤣

    It’s all a work in progress, you’ll learn as you go, and more than likely from mistakes. Just part of wood working, can’t always get it right first time. Nice table for a first build, getting something square and level is a great outcome 😉
    When ripping your ply (or anything else for that matter) set you saw depth so only half a tooth deeper than your material. That should reduce any possible binding/kickback and splintering/tearout.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @C.C.Woodwork
      @C.C.Woodwork  5 днів тому +1

      @OpticDevice Thank you! I really appreciate it! I was really surprised at the fact it came out square. Kinda laughed out loud when I realised it was straight. Haha!
      I'll definitely bring practicing more with the circular saw and ripping down materials. I have to board the inside of the shed/workshop soon. So making sure I rip wood accurately is a must! I'll definitely be taking height adjustment into consideration. Thank you! 🙏

    The price of lumber nowadays makes mistakes that much more aggravating.
    I know, because I make tons of them.

    • @C.C.Woodwork
      @C.C.Woodwork  5 днів тому +1

      @StillLivinginthewoods Absolutely! Luckily 2x4 is pretty cheap where I am, but the plywood is super expensive compared to what it was a few years back. Thankfully I think I've found a very lucky solution. Video on that, coming soon 😊

    Hey man, Great work. I struggle with wanting things perfect and have just been diagnosed with adhd, so I feel the struggle. The way I see it is, get the plywood on top to the best of your ability, then at least you have somewhere to build on and progress your skills from there. That's what I've done and I now feel confident enough to get rid on my old bench and do something much more suited to my needs. Its a place to build from, literally and metaphorically!
    Also just a thought you could turn the plywood around so the nice factory edge is the bit you see, get it secured down. That way you could either sand the back bit flush with the base or you might just forget about it over time haha

    • @C.C.Woodwork
      @C.C.Woodwork  6 днів тому +1

      Hey! Thank you. That actually makes a lot of sense! I've been kicking myself since I walked away from the project. I think I have a basic solution to the problem, so I'll give that a go. But you're right. I should just have a surface to work from, for now, until I develop my skills!
      I'm pretty sure it's adhd with me too, but I haven't been diagnosed properly yet. It would explain a lot! God help me when it comes to making something that isn't 90 degrees! 🤣

  • @johnrutherford4042

    Why didn't you just rested the plywood on bench and got your pencil and score the underside with pencil that way you'd of git a perfect line to cut along good video tho keep up the good work
