2,500 sit ups. Amazing. Tyson is a legend.
I believe he mentioned that he would split the sets throughout the day but correct me if I’m wrong

And thats why he was and is a champion
Yeah the remark came across a little patronising - almost somewhat like the way a physio would speak to a lay person needing to be educated about the “appropriate” level of physical activity. He’s the champ not the interviewer
@@willd0g bruh what
@@u.e.2672 who’s he to tell the champ he was overdoing it. Maybe that’s what it took to be champ. Use a dictionary if you have to understand the above cuz

Hey lithen!!
Yall talking about the limitations his workout has physically, but he was really exercising his mental fortitude. He found that push.
boxing is all a mental game, the exercise is the easy part. Waking up in the morning and running, doing unbelievable quantities of exercises such as push ups, jumping rope, and shadow boxing are all mental fortitude.
@@GodsLonelyMan__ it’s definitely not easy, as a kid yeah. But try to do 3 sessions a day as an adult. Never say anything is easy.
@@ppvplug3940 God don't you just feel sorry when you literally are implying that children are stronger than adults can ever be, if you can't outdo a teenager or a kid in exercise, you're not an adult you're a senior
@@yunnowho3225 it went over your head lmao, as a kid it’s easier to maintain workout regimens/routine because all you have to worry about is boxing and school, that’s if your surrounded by the right coaches. It’s definitely harder to keep up your training as an adult as opposed to when you’re young and fresh. You’re talking as if teenagers don’t have an insane work ethic, you’ve clearly never been at a gym saying that lmao. And you clearly don’t know what I’m talking about thinking I’m saying an adult is supposed to outwork a teenager 😂😂
@@yunnowho3225 we’re not talking random teenagers, we’re talking teenagers who box and I bet you anything a top ranked amateur works 100x harder than you do.

Right? Even advanced fighters don't have that kind of arrogance about getting in the ring with Mike
None of them said anything about beating Tyson
Idk man.. in this era everything is possible, its like the girlfriend of Blueface saying she could take floyd in a 1v1 boxing fight
Yesterday I did 70 sit ups and my upper body and abs were shaking a little because the great effort was too much for my physical condition. I can't imagine how Mike Tyson would do 2500 sit ups even before he was a champion. Now I feel even more mad respect to the legend
I remember when I first got into boxing at 14. Mikes training routine inspired me. I used to focus a lot on head defence and power punches. I tried to match his 2,500 a day but never got there. Most I got to was 700 in one day. The difference in power and body toughness is fucking insane
I’m 15 now and I started boxing about 6 months ago tyson was my motivation too I would work on head movement and moving while slipping side to side under under connected with hooks or body hook uppercut and I’d just practice that all do everyday till my back muscles and legs gave out on me now I’m actually working on technique and practicing my jab and double jab more than anything but tyson doing 2500 sit-ups is more of a mind thing than just body toughness the determination to push yourself to do that much would be insane
You know it is wisdom coming from the real champ himself. The man has been through the best and the worst of his life.
Wish you all the best Mr Tyson.

Could listen to Mike all day love to hear him sounds do humble and quiet compared to how he was portrayed by the media in the 90's
Soothing to hear him talk now. Knowing he still is the most terrifying destruction machine 🙏
What an amazing fighter and next to Ali that’s for sure. If Cus’Damato staid alive longer he would have kept all the vultures wanting to take money from Mike and he have been safer from all those evils
Yep. IMO, I think Tyson is more epic than Ali, which is almost sacrilege to say. Ali will always be Ali and nothing I’m about to say detracts from him.
Ali was banned for peaceful resistance to a very unpopular war. Tyson was imprisoned as a rapist when, as more people learn and as info comes out, he was very likely innocent of this terrible crime.
Tyson had to deal with more vultures than Ali I think once Cus died and he had only himself to fall back on since he was essentially an orphan from a young age.
Don King really hurt Tyson especially. I think at one point Tyson was homeless on the street in the 1990s after being world heavyweight champ.
Tyson is very, very wise, humble, and finally at peace with himself and others.
I hope I get to meet him someday.
Love Mike , real human being 👊🏽❤️
Unlike the rest of America

Mike, you still a beast. You still have it. Just train hard and don't get intimidated by the media hype and that dude you supposedly fighting 💪
This man is an icon of masculinity.
If aliens land in my backyard, and say "Take us to your leader." I am plotting a course for Mike Tyson's Ranch, and hitching a ride. I want everyone reading this to take that pledge with me. I live 10 miles from the White House, but I'm going to Tysons house.

I pledge allegiance that Mike Tyson is our leader !
MY FAVORITE BOXER OF ALL TIME!!
@John H no man is a god but yes i love mike as well
Amazing how Mike is a teacher now. He seems to love paying it forward!!!!! He's still the Man!!!
Tyson was blessed with elite genetic gifts for boxing, but what made him great was his work-ethic!
I don’t think it was his back he hurt. It could’ve been his hip flexor which probably made him feeel like he destroyed his lower back
How does that work, I’m curious cause I have bad lower left hip and back pain
@@wread1982 I had this issue too and then tried dead lifting. I’m very fit so it was humbling to find out I couldn’t deadlift 10lbs with proper form. Proper form is key so you can strengthen your hip flexors and glutes so they can maintain your upper body
@@wread1982 there are certain body exercises you can also do to strengthen before even starting with deadlifting I just don’t know any of the names
He said he shot his neck and back doing those radical wrestling bridges he did back in the day
Interviewer sounds like the most generic person ever lmao. Brings up abs for no reason at all
??? Abs (or trunk in general) is one of the most important muscles for boxers
Boxing abdominal work is insane. You just keep going and increasing the volume day after day. At one point, I was doing over 500 lying leg raises for lower abs. It was nuts!
Core Strength = Power.
Point taken Mike. 💪
These lies that Mike Tyson didn’t lift weights have now been debunked. Fighters lift!
Ha! Exactly what i was thinking... mike Tyson push ups 😂
He SWITCHED to weights at some point in his year. For a period.. he didn't.. so both are true
I've never lifted weights or done any form of strength conditioning. Would you recommend for an absolute beginner to do weights?
@@arjunbadeshia2893 yes
it will give you a good strength base
In one of his training docs he talks about doing something like 500 weighted barbell squats plus a day. When you train lower body like that your upper body will naturally grow. I'm sure he did some bench and cleans etc but nothing dramatic. Too much of that and his speed and natural snappiness would've been lost and he would've started to look like Frank Bruno.
Where are these full interviews
I was watching the video with low sound because of people sleeping in the house and all, and I thought "lol 2500 situps, the dude doing the subtitles made the same typo twice". Then I increased volume, played the clip again, shat bricks realizing it wasn't a typo and went to sleep.

Even at this age this man looks like a beast 😎
Wow Mike!!!!!
Asking one of the greatest athletes of all time "what did you do for abs" like he was some blown up bodybuilder training body part splits lol
You don't have to be a bodybuilder to get asked how you developed a specific muscle....
Mike did his workout to defeat in boxing combat. Bodybuilders do it for looks period.
@@Max-mb4rj That was exactly my point, abs are a result of having low body fat combined with generally being in shape, I doubt Mike ever spent a second specifically trying to develop them or worrying about what they looked like, its just a result of the total body training required in combat sports.
I understood you
@@cantbanme8971 wrong, it's not just about abs it's core strength you can be fatter like ruiz but have strong abs and core strength but won't see it. Or you can be a skinny stick with visible abs but it's weak who has the stronger core... You people are so stupid.
Mike is very intelligent. He is very well spoken. I listen to his videos a lot lately. I have a bachelor’s degree and I think this man is still taking me to school
this man broke his back and still kept fighting
Imagine what could have been if he stayed with his original fight camp and yes i know the man he considered his dad died but everyone else was still around
If I did 2,500 sit-ups my back would be broken too. Spinal.
True Legend.
The Incredible Iron Mike
Mike is a f***** BEAST!!!
*Sit ups aren’t necessarily good for abs.* None of the worlds strongest men do abs, they just do compound exercises (which everything uses the core).
True. I think he did it for mentality and training your will. Because it burns so much that most men would stop at 60.
Boxers and worlds strongest men types are not the same at all. Boxers over train and obliterate their bodies because they have to break their bodies to make them stronger. Crunches in boxing is crucial because you have to make the core used to abuse and make it solid. It’s not for show, it so you can take a body blow if a punch lands. All the greats did hundreds of sit ups a day. Ali ran 3-5 miles a day in military boots, painful but turns your feet, ligaments and foot muscles into something that can withstand a lot of punishment.
@@gloverdragon6854 You know nothing about boxing, and nothing about strongman. Strongman literally have the strongest core muscles of any athletes on earth. It’s not “for show.” Fool.
@@zippo_muk9254 I know nothing about boxing 😂 says the guy who thinks strong man abs are fight ready abs and for taking fighting punishment like a fighters abs 😂. When will you muscle freaks learn, gym-bro muscles do not equate to fighting muscles and technique and skill.
@@gloverdragon6854 Did I ever say muscles make you a better fighter? No. *You’re making up bs because your point got disproven.* You doing sit ups is “for show.” It doesn’t help you take body shots. You know nothing about strength. Doing strongman exercises literally builds a stronger core. It’s like doing sit-ups while holding 100kg weights above your head. Mindless fool

@@danielbrealey2924 why should the peek a boo style ruin his back???
@@GPG82 Have you ever watched him do his training for his slips? That dude worked his body HARD. As you get older, your spine is less forgiving of this kind of stuff. I assumed it was wear and tear from the slip/step style training. You heard him say how many sit ups he was doing, could you imagine how much he drilled the slipping from side to side- and how fast he used to do it. He was doing the motion thousands of times a day. Everyday. If you actually step in the ring and try this at full pace you'll see how hard it is on your body. How old are you dude?
Look at the legs,, that's where his power generates from,, still in phenomenal condition
It's always interesting to hear IRON MIKE TYSON talk about how he got in shape and built his body. He has a lot in common with BRUCE LEE at least in terms of training for SPEED and POWER and having the whole world wondering how he built his body.
