I remember in one of her interviews with Oprah she wept when she said "God loves me so much". And that statement has changed my relationship with God. I realized how much I am loved by God.
If you’re reading this comment, it’s too late, you’ve already been immensely blessed with an abundance of love, wealth, luck, health, joy, and whatever else your heart desires!! I’m so proud of you for surviving everything you’ve been through. This is your sign to go after what your heart most desires for the highest good, it’s your time
Bless you darling!!!!!!!! May every wish, desire, and dream you have come true. We trust. We agree. We believe. We learn. We receive. We achieve. Amen 🙏🏾
I would watch the way Oprah interacted with her, told me how highly she thought of her. TBH never read "I know why caged bird sings" but loved reading Alex Haley, Claude Brown, Nathan McCAll, from Stephen King to Now non-fiction rags to riches gets my attention every time. Stay blessed 👁️
I had the privilege of hearing Ms. Angelou speak in person at my HBCU alma mater back in ‘96. I remember the assembly room, packed with college students, was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. We hung on her every word! Her way of speaking is soothing to the soul. Her wisdom is classic and timeless. She will go down as one the the greatest writers and orators of all time. 🕊
I saw her at UC Irvine as a senior in 2001... most AMAZING experience ever and Ive been obsessed with her ever since. I just found out my neighbor who grew up in the south and now teaches music in Los Angeles, played Music WITH HER! Like OMG Dude YOU WIN, Im so jealous! Im finishing my English credential right now, and I vow to never let this amazing woman's works and all she did for not just black women, but ALL WOMEN, be forgotten.
From a traumatic childhood, I made poor choices as I aged. Until I heard Maya's quote "I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better." This idea that we have skewed childhood logic and an unreasonable level of responsibility to what happened to us changed my life. I was able to see I was only a child dealing the best way I could. And in many ways I stayed a "child" until my 40's. I became an addiction treatment counselor and often paraphrased Maya's message as "You did what you knew how to do and when you knew better, you did better."
She was down here in the south a couple of young white boys was following her through the airport teasing her. Probably saying unpleasant things as they walked behind her giggling. She stopped and took them aside and spoke to them. I don't know what she said. But from a distance they walked off humbled and wiping their eyes... She was so composed and continue on her way greeting on lookers with a smile, like she was gone love no matter what they say. Many years ago... REST IN THE POWER OF LOVE BEAUTIFUL
"And, there is nothing quite so tragic as a young cynic, because it means the the person goes has gone from knowing nothing to believing nothing"... I hope we all give our young more to believe in.
One thing she said that I still consider daily is; ‘people will usually forget what you say, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel’. It’s a great quote for a world over involved in semantics. It’s a lesson I’m learning constantly. Make people feel good about themselves from the opening interactions with them. It’s HOW you say things that affects others. Not necessarily the verbiage itself.
I once hugged a teacher who had constantly been bullying me at work and she weepers like a baby. She carried on with her abusive behavior and I just let her be and changed my perspective of her.
To the person reading this. Trust the Process, Your Time is Coming💯 Do your best and God will do the rest. Make it a Great Day, Remember the Choice is Yours. Stay blessed everyone!💯🌴🌴🌴🌴🙏🙏🙏

@Frank I would say almost 💯the attraction /pull towards Angelou has to do with the Love of God in her heart. People who have this Love, it radiates through them. They are ‘different’ and attract people like a magnet 🧲 Your second person is like a celebrity type. So it’s just for their fame etc. Maya Angelou’s voice is electrifying, painful and peaceful. The calm in her speech is amazing. Maya showcases a very rare master Of words and talking. Poetry is her speech, incredible composed and melodic talk that forces everybody to open door.

God Bless the people who have only a few struggles in life. But for the rest of us, We know why the caged bird sings and that is a earned a painful gift, cause we can find joy in hopeless places. Love this amazing poet one of God's True Ladies. Rest in Love and thank you. x
That's a woman of authentic power - a woman of real hard fought peace and love, of real dignity. She's someone you couldn't mess with because she could see right into your soul, because she'd seen right into, and endured her own, the good the bad and the ugly. I have no first hand evidence of this. I just glean it from listening to her and from the legacy she has left behind.
I didn't quite experience what she did, but when I read her book in middle school I realized I wasn't alone, and I drew strength, solace, and fortitude from that. So many years later, something happened and I'm told I'm too quiet. I have spent the weeks since a very loud fourth of july writing a poem about how I choose to be quiet to heal, to be still to see the beauty in the world past all the color and noise and even in all my writing I thought - I there's something wrong with me. I should be stronger than this, I should still talk and laugh and loudly. Dr. Maya Angelou - once again your words heal me. I didn't trust my soul to know how to repair myself, but my soul knows best. I don't need to be loud, it's enough to enjoy the quiet beauty of the world that's so much more beautiful once you've had to build yourself back up again.
I got to hear her speak twice at Clemson University, in Clemson SC and another time at the Black Health Expo in Greenville, SC. Every single time I was Spellbound. She was a shooting star. ✨ Rest in Power Queen. 🙏🏽🤎 ✝️

Maya Angelo your words in wisdom is so profound. You are truly missed and you had so much to offer and share with us black women as we grow and prosper. Thank you for the knowledge and encouragement, you have contributed to my life as a black woman❤❤❤❤❤Rip🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I loved this woman. Pose and Grace. Eloquent speaker- extraordinary intellect. Brillant. We both were born same month, one day apart. I too love reading and I hope I can be a quarter of what she had mastered during her beautiful years on earth. God continue to be with her in his loving arms. S.I.P Maya you were loved beautiful soul.
She is telling the story of Tupac. How she calmed him down and the things she said made tears come from his eyez. Beautiful story and 2PAC was a beautiful spirit. I love and miss them both.
I first read her books and poems in African American History class in 1971 at GSU. I've loved her work ever since. It's a testimony on overcoming the most dismal circumstances life can throw at you and turn it into something wonderfully creative and great.
I love her. I love hearing her speak. she makes my soul rise up.. I hope the subtitles of this video are corrected so the words she speaks are true and clear on the screen as her voice is.
I will not hear poetry from Maya Angelou.... Unless I hear it from her, her voice, her spirit, her character. No, if I hear by Ms. Angelou. I want to hear it from the person who lived it. Such a wonderful, strong woman. I know her words will continue to provide wisdom for many, many generations to come.
I love listening to Dr. Angelou after my daily prayers. Then, I'm in the correct headspace to give her work spiritual presence it requires to truly be moved or inspired. She's indeed a treasure from the universe to the universe. I sincerely hope more people are exposed or at least intrigued to listen to her orations or read her books, poetry, lectures and her biographical literature.🙏🏽
Maya Angelou, you are so inspiring! I have seen your books at my previous job but never read any of them. Too busy selling them. You have passed not knowing your story. Now at the age of 61 and have a more relaxing job, I will start reading your books. My housemate told me about this video and watched it. Thank you for sharing your life story❤
I was abused by a family member. He tried to rape me we were both teenagers. I was able to draw strength and defend myself. Maya's angelous courage in I know why the caged bird sings is what allowed me to do so. I am grateful to her for encouraging poetry which allowed me to believe that I would one day be a butterfly. I was socially awkward as a child and I read books for solace. She was my favorite author.
In my life I learned that i was not worthy, yet my unending desire to please drove my soul. This video gave me so much hope and belief that I too, like this iconic woman can make a positive impact to many. I cant stop cryin, it opened a door for me that is positive and inspirational. I'm 63, and I vow to read her books, and her example has woken this sleeping giant within me. This is an epiphany for me. Father God thank you for loving us, and if i could inspire just one person as this woman did for me, I did the most worthy thing in my life. Thank you sweet soul for saving me.
I remember in one of her interviews with Oprah she wept when she said "God loves me so much". And that statement has changed my relationship with God. I realized how much I am loved by God.

Maya Angelou is one great prophet. She is so loved because she is willing to risk it all. She knows beyond a doubt that she is loved by God.
Love her, her words live on.
I miss her😭
My hero. She is the reason i don't quit, dont give up or give in easily.
This world was greater for her presence.

Hi Maria How’re you doing
Hello Maia
Remarkable lady with eternal optimism and positivity♥️
Maya Angelou, you are so inspiring! I have seen your books at my previous job but never read any of them. Too busy selling them. You have passed not knowing your story. Now at the age of 61 and have a more relaxing job, I will start reading your books. My housemate told me about this video and watched it. Thank you for sharing your life story❤
💔so much pain Tupac experienced and Ms. Angelou recognized it🥰Thank her for showing him grace🌹RIP to them both
Yes every journey we go through is only intended to make us better, so we need to keep going
She is such an inspiration!
Ms. Marguerite Annie Johnson, out of such a dark circumstances, come out the light and beauty of Ms. Maya Angelou.
I always hoped to meet her. She still inspires me! So passionate so deep.
She was such a gift to all mankind.
What a remarkable person she was!😎💙 Too bad, she is gone! 😕My favorite quote, from her: "If you know better, you do better" 🧡💛🧡
Such an inspiration as a person
