I have never heard any pianist play the Chopin etudes with such understanding and mastery…
These were historic moments in the history of piano performance.
All history is historic, and what you really meant is true, so I agree, and I agree.
Thank you. Whatever I come across by Martha Argerich triggers intense loving inside of me.
Right? Her playing is never sentimental, yet always evocative. Never fails to move and animate me in more ways than I could describe.
Amazing! That etude 10.4 is just sparkling!
Ahh..Adore her preludes so much. Thanks a million for uploading these!
Dear @SY KIM, thank you for uploading this! It's a precious jewel! I'd love to hear the 2nd round. It's been more than 10 years that I'm dying to hear her op. 25 n.10!
Je vous remercie de nous permettre d'écouter ces enregistrements . Martha ... un enchantement. Que du bonheur de l'écouter.........Qu'elle interprétation magnifique ... Nocturne Op. 15 n ° 1 ....
What piano technique … and what superhuman music by Chopin.
I keep coming back to these compilations, @SY Kim-thank you so much for posting. And her rendering of the Nocturne Op. 15 No. 1 here is otherworldly.
You know, she might one day become a concert pianist ..
Vejam o Arthur Moreira Lima na penúltima foto. Ele foi o segundo colocado no Concurso Internacional Chopin de Varsóvia em 1965

It's not a video but an image ! 😡
Argerich plays the fast section of this piece too fast and she drowns the melody with too much pedal. She should listen to Arthur Rubinstein...
Yes, it is very bad !
Why she win this competition?
Which piece?
I think being a woman and rather attractive affects the judges… lt should NOT be like this.
It’s regarding texture, shaping the melodies, surface layer harmonies, being faithful to the score. It’s my opinion, but she won by a mile.
Please don’t be nasty! She has her own way of playing. Trying to copy other pianists wouldn’t help individual taste, like mine or yours, to be more spread out and diverse. For example, copying intense silences in Horowitz’s playing wouldn’t work for her. Unfortunately, there is no way to make comparisons of different styles of performance. I prefer sincere melodies, surface harmonies. Someone else may like punk rock, banging the piano styles, or shy quiet music. I’ve never understood it, but if it is loved, then it must be good in some people’s view, and who am I to judge if they are right or wrong? Their taste is of exactly the same value as me, as their taste is what they use and develop in life, just the same as mine in that way, even if the taste itself might be different.
