Beneath Ignition? Are you high or a paid troll for motor trend? The production quality is mammoth, on par with top gear (old top gear) and Chris Harris.
The production quality of this video is great and beyond amazing, however it is still beneath that: /watch?v=VHw-uuKzdBs - "Ignition" by MTC. Objectively.
Whatever people might think about McLaren: lack of soul, excitement etc... keep in mind that the mp4-12c is only 6 years old. It's amazing what this company has achieved in such a short time!
Everyone else released their videos of this car the first day off the video embargo and as such had shitty quality all around. You guys took your time and reviewed the car the way it was supposed to be reviewed, then took the time to make an incredibly high quality video. This is what sets you guys apart. You may take your time, but you do it right. Never change, drivetribe. You're the best we've got. 11/10
Forget what everyone else says about _'No passion'_... Let's not forget the Lamborghini Huracan is just an Audi R8 with a sexy Italian suit...and nobody complains that that's a boring car to drive... I honestly think that if this car had a _Ferrari_ badge on it, that people would be crawling over themselves to get one...McLaren just doesn't have the same level of kudos with the norms yet. Only truly knowledgable drivers understand how freaking incredible McLaren and their cars are...
Snakebloke good point. Plus apparently the R8 was a better car to drive than the Huracan, until they developed the RWD version. The supercar landscape has changed I reckon, and MCL have done well to cater to the customer that wants all the theatre, tech and looks but also the comfort of a Bentley.
Snakebloke the way you say the huracan is just an r8 with an Italian body kit makes it seem like there is something wrong with the r8. it's a naturally aspirated, high reving v10 that sounds incredible & sends chills down your spine every time you downshift as those cracks & pops & the burble of the exhaust wakes the streets. how is any of that a bad thing? When people say no passion, it's simply because Lamborghinis and Ferraris have a certain flair to them that McLarens generally lack. this 720 is great, I'm sure the performonte is even better.
I always band on about "italian car syndrome". For some reason people are brainwashed to think that if its italian, it's automatically good looking, and "emotional", despite the fact Alfa or Ferrari haven't made a good looking car since the early 2000's
Yes, an old video... but starting at 3:40, this is pretty much the BEST review of a 720S I've ever seen. I absolutely love mine. I will say that the optional sport exhaust coupled with the spider (and rear window that lowers) improves the in-cabin exhaust not considerably over the standard exhaust on the coupe.
Drivetribe is the best community I've found till date, hands down! Some really potent brains behind it. I'm following the posts regularly and the quizzes are fun too! Henry Catchpole reviewing it is beyond the best!
Damn you DriveTribe just take my money! Quality of this video was insane! Then of course with Henry Catchpole as the journalist, it's like watching a 95% rotten tomatoes movie in 10min. Well done. 👏🏽
I think we're going into a realm where these cars are so amazing that we're just giving opinions for opinion's sake. Ofcourse ive never driven one of these but, atleast physically, i dont understand how people can say it "lacks passion" . I mean just look at it, it looks like "Toothless" from the movie "How To Train Your Dragon"!! It looks ridiculously passionate if you ask me ! Also, i think for once a Mclaren looks more passionate than a Ferrari ((488)).
This car is amazing but it just doesn't sound as good as it could. The way a car sounds is as important as the way it looks, handles or how fast it is.
Great review. The title intrigued me so much I had to watch. I'm glad you acknowledged that it is, of course, a supercar, but without the supercar norms of being uncomfortable, hard to drive, impractical and unfriendly. Brilliant piece
You guys really set the bar in terms of production quality: the hosts are great and knowledgeable, the photography is fabulous, the music is great, and on and on. You bring an emotional element to the enjoyment and review of cars that leads the pack. Thank you and keep at it!
Drivetribe weren't first with reviewing the 720s but they are light years ahead of all other UA-cam car channels. Outstanding productions and I love when Henry does the reviews. He is my favourite car reviewer of all time with Chris Harris as a close second.
Just brilliant. I have read your features for years in EVO and loved how you made me feel I was driving the car. Gutted when I heard you were leaving the magazine but now I can see why. The videos are brilliantly presented and the filming is just spot on. Motorways are good but I love a good blast along a backroad when no one else is around.
I'd love to know why people gave this video a thumbs down? Maybe they were looking for prams and ended up here? That's Maclaren people! Great filming in an epic location with a brand new supercar.
I love this car. I have huge respect for McLaren for not being afraid to make the car look like nothing else that even they have made before. While most other manufacturers will just build on the designs of their previous models, McLaren decided to make something truly new. Perhaps that's the benefit of not having decades of designs to draw from. Yes the F1 is soon to be an antique, but the F1 will always be separate from anything MP4-12C forward in my books.
So, to be a real supercar ii first of all has to be LOUD, and then it can't be very comfortable on trips that last hundreds of miles. Which leaves me wondering why I'd ever want a supercar. I think I'd much prefer the McLaren. Or a Porsche.
Beautiful video, that gives those of us who'll most likely never have the chance to own or drive one, a virtual driving experience that simply leaves us gasping or more like begging for more!
i miss this bloke. upload more videos of which contents were like the same as evo! keep up the good job! not regretting hopping over to drivetribe just to see his reviews. loved it then, still do. we are behind you harry!! the next chris harris!
as I love about all great evo/drivetribe videos... not only do I love a new car.. but I also fall in love with a new road! add this one to the european supercar roadtrip 'roads to drive'
Beautiful video and car. Henry does a fine review as always. But I do think car reviewers in general sometimes miss the point with these vehicles. they fly in to a track somewhere with the vehicle already present and prepped by the factory and then drive it at the limit to great effect. I suppose some Supercar owners have their cars delivered to a track and do the same thing but most people don't live right next door to a track and can't exercise this high level of performance without driving some way to a track or quiet back roads like this. And at that point the always shouty engine and stiff ride is going to turn off many of the people who can afford to spend this much money on a car. I love a great engine note like most car enthusiasts do but really it is only one factor among many in the quality experience we are looking for in an Enthusiast car. there are several excellent reviewers on UA-cam like Henry that really know these cars very well but also seem to place the raw quality of a sports car as the highest single quality to look for. most of the customers for this car can probably also afford to have a GT3 or some other screaming engine in their garage. it seems to me the McLaren 720S would be a great choice to mix with a purpose built track car or the aforementioned 911 GT3.
He makes the point, and it's all about what side of that line you land on. Quiet, wonderful ride, automatic, great visibility all round - great qualities in a Golf, but never something I'd want in a supercar. Using a car like this every day just dulls the excitement, and then you're right back to square one. "My everyday car is a 720, so what's my special car?". Fine, maybe you're average 720 owner has half a dozen other cars and will never be in this situation, but I still view the supercar from a time before wealthy bankers ruined them. I lived next to a guy growing up - he had two cars - a Diablo SV, and a diesel 205. Perfection.
Production quality on this video is outstanding. As for the car, it's a stunning car, it really grew on me since it's announcement, though I still sthink that those head lights look a bit funky.
Nice that we can hear you for a change. The continuity needs attention, the model car was missing in the close up after you'd placed it there. Also nice that there are no inane expletives to endure.
The production is great. But only issue I see is that when we have the presenter speaking on screen his audio level drops but when he is doing voice overs it's normal compared to the the car noise.
Reminds me alot of the F1 , doors , front view , the sidepods on the doors. The headlights work really well. Looks hot from front and back. Nice clean simple layout inside. Only thing missing seems to be the sound. As a car to look at has a gorgeous backend and all round hot. If had to pick between T50 and 720s on looks i think would have to go with the 720s.
I've just found this.. I didn't realise it was there.? Well done H' another triumph.. beautiful film, beautifully shot, and great craic.! You really should be on TG.. you and Monkey would be magic.. that would give him a run for his money. Regards. WF
excellent! The final shot of the 720S ripping past, and then the slight disturbance of a single blade of grass . . . And yes, I agree with you: the 720S is a supercar. :-)
Lol, all those people complaining about this car being perfect. It's not a human being, it's a machine. If I pay for it, I damn sure want it to be perfect. And screw your "lack of passion" and "lack of soul" reasons, you're delusional...
This car is just brilliant, I hope people come to see it as a super car, with hypercar speed, non hyper car price that you could put 100000 miles on. Stop caring about resale or the flip and just pour on miles of smiles.
Great review. What a drive. I like the subjective nature of the review. You ou can go to to other reviewers for the technical details. Great work with th ed camera too.
You may be the last one to review this car on youtube but you made the best review of this car.
Similar formula to what Apple uses.
blustng07 :)
blustng07 True. One Plus at the moment is very good also. For the money especially.
The production quality of this video is beyond brilliant.
Indeed; however it's beneath the "Ignition" by Motor Trend Channel :)

Gowtham Oleti 👍
Was just about to comment on this myself. Couldn't agree more. Tack sharp!
Whatever people might think about McLaren: lack of soul, excitement etc... keep in mind that the mp4-12c is only 6 years old. It's amazing what this company has achieved in such a short time!
woah, i actually thought the 12c was more like 10 years, thats pretty damn impressive
Fearzzy 12c released in 2012!
Excrement from the mouth of the tifosi fearing competition from another manufacturer.

asdf Your birth was an embarrassment to the UK and the male gender across the globe (because you aren't a man). No wonder your parents left you.
asdf See I can say the same thing :). He's one of the best reviewers on this platform.

Except that this video has been made and was released on Drivetribe.com 2 weeks ago.
I wish Bruce McLaren was still alive to witness the technological wonders and pices of art the cars that carry his name are.
Forget what everyone else says about _'No passion'_...
Let's not forget the Lamborghini Huracan is just an Audi R8 with a sexy Italian suit...and nobody complains that that's a boring car to drive...

Snakebloke the way you say the huracan is just an r8 with an Italian body kit makes it seem like there is something wrong with the r8.
it's a naturally aspirated, high reving v10 that sounds incredible & sends chills down your spine every time you downshift as those cracks & pops & the burble of the exhaust wakes the streets.

this 720 is great, I'm sure the performonte is even better.
Eug The problem with the 720S is it lacks the theatre.
Snakebloke lol I'd buy a Mc within an eyeblink instead of Lambos, Ferraris and all that...
I always band on about "italian car syndrome". For some reason people are brainwashed to think that if its italian, it's automatically good looking, and "emotional", despite the fact Alfa or Ferrari haven't made a good looking car since the early 2000's

every car person in the world needs to subscribe to DRIVETRIBE right now! Such incredible videos cannot be viewed by so little people.
Drivetribe is the best community I've found till date, hands down! Some really potent brains behind it. I'm following the posts regularly and the quizzes are fun too! Henry Catchpole reviewing it is beyond the best!
Stay up until 1 am, rewarded with Drivetribe video
Damn you DriveTribe just take my money! Quality of this video was insane! Then of course with Henry Catchpole as the journalist, it's like watching a 95% rotten tomatoes movie in 10min. Well done. 👏🏽
DUDE!!!!!!

Sandesh uppu I liked Toothless
i really liked him too ! One of the resons i think this car looks great !
I've actually driven a 650s and it doesn't feel soulless at all, it's an amazing emotional experience
The 488 is just an updated 458.
This channel popped up seemingly out of nowhere but their content and production quality is superb. It's on a whole other level!
jesus christ the production quality is the best i have ever seen.
You guys really set the bar in terms of production quality: the hosts are great and knowledgeable, the photography is fabulous, the music is great, and on and on. You bring an emotional element to the enjoyment and review of cars that leads the pack. Thank you and keep at it!
The 720 is the every day supercar. Like the 650s in it's day. They then brought out the 675lt. 750lt? Can't wait for it!
Drivetribe weren't first with reviewing the 720s but they are light years ahead of all other UA-cam car channels. Outstanding productions and I love when Henry does the reviews. He is my favourite car reviewer of all time with Chris Harris as a close second.

This is, by far, the best car channel on youtube, guys.
It's like old Top Gear.
The production quality is amazing!!
I'd love to know why people gave this video a thumbs down? Maybe they were looking for prams and ended up here? That's Maclaren people! Great filming in an epic location with a brand new supercar.
10/10 for the reviewer. I tend to dislike the drivers on these videos, but this guy was clear and precise. Brilliant!
Hands down the most professional, brilliant automobile videos on UA-cam.
I love this car. I have huge respect for McLaren for not being afraid to make the car look like nothing else that even they have made before.

yes a proper supercar should be rediculous and unusable every day
Beautiful video, that gives those of us who'll most likely never have the chance to own or drive one, a virtual driving experience that simply leaves us gasping or more like begging for more!
The lt version of this will be insane
That sounds like a serious weapon!
Definitely.
@@ANDRE_675 Well look at that, you were surprisingly close! The car got called the 765LT, so hats off to you.
i miss this bloke. upload more videos of which contents were like the same as evo! keep up the good job!
not regretting hopping over to drivetribe just to see his reviews. loved it then, still do. we are behind you harry!!

as I love about all great evo/drivetribe videos... not only do I love a new car.. but I also fall in love with a new road! add this one to the european supercar roadtrip 'roads to drive'

Glorious video! Such quality and beauty. Thank you to all involved.
Great editing, presenting and a superb review
Congratulations!!
Drivetribe, @ 1:16 wouldn't it make a big difference on a car like this to fill it up with regular octane 95 instead of 98?
Been waiting a while for this review and it's top notch as ever Henry, summed the car up perfectly
He makes the point, and it's all about what side of that line you land on. Quiet, wonderful ride, automatic, great visibility all round - great qualities in a Golf, but never something I'd want in a supercar. drove a 650S last week....performance was intense. can't imagine this is turned up higher. sound was good in the 650S with the spyder though
Catchpole videos are the best videos.
Another enjoyable one. Glad to see that he is not just another McLaren fanboy, like so many others nowadays as well!
It's official.
Drivetribe now makes the best quality car videos on youtube.
MotorTrend is still a little bit better.
I love the sound, the aesthetics inside and out, the practicality and usability.
Their are no other car channels on UA-cam. Only Drive Tribe.
Production quality on this video is outstanding. As for the car, it's a stunning car, it really grew on me since it's announcement, though I still sthink that those head lights look a bit funky.
I just love Henry Catchpoles reviews....
10 seconds in and I'm already thinking. this guy does fantastic car reviews.
Nice that we can hear you for a change. The continuity needs attention, the model car was missing in the close up after you'd placed it there. Also nice that there are no inane expletives to endure.
Proper review/vid production.... so much better than the 'recent' so called video journalist that's popped up on UA-cam.
Fuck me it's essentially a hyper car. Just wait for the LT...
Vaygor it's faster then the p1
Amazing cinematography! Amazing video! Still not sold on the looks of the car.
Great video drivetribe! Greetings from finland.
The production is great. But only issue I see is that when we have the presenter speaking on screen his audio level drops but when he is doing voice overs it's normal compared to the the car noise.
You and Jethro are absolute legends. I love you guys, amazing videos
get this car in red and call it Deadpool
sky nguyen get this in white and call it as STORMTROOPER.
sky nguyen get it in black and call it jamel
sky nguyen *bloodpool
you damn genius
Reminds me alot of the F1 , doors , front view , the sidepods on the doors. The headlights work really well. Looks hot from front and back. Nice clean simple layout inside. sexy outer design, but nog a huge fan of the center screen & dash screen. the minimal dash looks very cool though!
I've just found this.. I didn't realise it was there.?
Well done H' another triumph.. beautiful film, beautifully shot, and great craic.!
You really should be on TG.. you and Monkey would be magic.. that would give him a run for his money.
Regards. WF
Its not just a bad ass car, this video was put together perfectly. well done
Another excellent video, go Henry!
nice to see Henry in the drivers seat wish you would of reviewed the ford gt. Great vid as expected
Ace video and great work as always Henry!!!
Amazing video guys. The host is great too, such a great choice. And, great car.
The best test!!! I've ever seen for this car.
Thanks for filming in Parco del Gran Sasso... it could be a real help after the earthquakes
Drivetribe is the the number 1 car show on earth
excellent! The final shot of the 720S ripping past, and then the slight disturbance of a single blade of grass . . .
And yes, I agree with you: the 720S is a supercar. :-)
The production quality got me subbed in 30 seconds.. :)
Lol, all those people complaining about this car being perfect. It's not a human being, it's a machine. If I pay for it, I damn sure want it to be perfect. And screw your "lack of passion" and "lack of soul" reasons, you're delusional...
Once again an excellent video
Auto Express? Checked
Mr jww STG and SOL ? Checked
DRIVETRIBE? hell yes!!
I'd take a Turbo every time! Another quality video, well done!
What NATO strap is Henry using on his Speedmaster?
I was waiting for right review... And got it... Thank you drive tribe, for a marvelous review.
When you compare this to a 911 turbo but it rips a 918 apart :) this thing is pure love.
Is that an omega speedy on Henry's wrist? Looks awesome
Drivetribe is the worthy successor to TopGear. This video conveys the engineering and artistry of the 720S perfectly!
Henry is a watch guy, nice watch & strap brah. Great review.
Great watch! so well shot.
Finally a proper video about the 720S, not from a youtuber screaming to the go pro.
which camera do u use ? cinematography is on peak in your video
These videos are so much nicer without the giant subtitles you put over the top when they're on Drivetribe.com
Great stuff as ever Henry, and please come back to Evo magazine soon.
Loving that SpeedMaster.
This dude Henry st. catchtoads or whatever does some amazing voice over work
Catchpole is back!
Hate how the front end looks, but the way mclaren has progressed in a short time Is amazing
Love the Speedy Pro, especially on the black leather nato!
How does drivetribe not have 7 billion subs?
M de Sa because theres not that much people on youtube....simple
You are nearing Chris Harris on Cars quality with these videos great job!
everything about this video is perfect !! im not even a McLaren enthusiast until after watching this lolol SUBBED
I love this reviewer so much
Brilliant, as ever Henry!
Good Job drive tube u made my dad convinced to get this car.
i so want one!
great video.......nicely polished
Would a 570GT be better suited for the different situations of driving conducted in this video?
This car is just brilliant, I hope people come to see it as a super car, with hypercar speed, non hyper car price that you could put 100000 miles on. Stop caring about resale or the flip and just pour on miles of smiles.
Excellent review !!!
Can't wait for the LT version, whenever that'll come out
Great review. What a drive. I like the subjective nature of the review. You ou can go to to other reviewers for the technical details. Great work with th ed camera too.
