Good to see you guys make the decision to turn back from the peak because of avalanche danger. I always have Ed Viesturs quote in the back of my mind when I get into similar situations. “You may love the mountains, but the mountains don’t love you”.
This vid perfectly captures the "why the hell are we doing this?!" feeling you sometimes get in the middle of what eventually turns out to be a super rewarding adventure.
Guys, I just binge watched the entire content of this channel in 48 hours. It is a gem and a shame you do not have more subs. Great filming/editing/audio, adventure, friendship, humor, quality of content and even some suspense elements when things turn to crazy bushwacks haha! Thank you so much, you rellay inspire me to go out and also explore more of western USA. Cheers from Montreal, Canada
We had to turn around just below the summit on Hayden Peak in not quite this much snow. Major disappointment. We had crampons, ice axes, and were harnessed and roped together. But our professional guide said one of us would fall through the soft snow cornice, and the tumble would be between 500 and 1,500 ft. Twenty five years later, I am delighted you gentlemen made your decision based on the conditions and not your “summit rage.”
Not sure what YT algorithm got this into my video suggestions, but really glad I saw it. Like you, I have done Kings Peak in the summer, but appreciated seeing the approach in winter conditions.
Wow ....I think all have our stories of the worst adventures out and about in the mountains (ha)! I remember decending out off a mountain with a lack of snow on my route ....skis on ....skis off back and forth , cliffed out , thick trees , then I skied off a tiny cliff and got hung up in a tree upside down hanging there with my skis on tangled up in the branches 5 ' ft. above the ground as my dog Pony looked on at me .... (ha)! thanks for the videos you guys are beast out there and strong work !!
Ha! We skied Kings back in April and had to slog 3.5 miles just to get to Henry’s trailhead. That 3.5 miles on the way out nearly broke me. But we found great snow! I’ll never do that again...
That was rock solid! thanks for the vid. Im an old school winter mountaineer, so seeing your setup was cool, looked like the jackets were a bit thin and could tell you were a bit cold, but overall impressive gear, awesome stamina, super beautiful scenery, and I want set a tent right there on top of Gilbert peak now, in that blow. Amazing.
As always, very nicely shot, edited, and narrated! Thanks for another entertaining and inspiring video that'll get me out there more! Good decision on the turn-around at Anderson, too.
Glad you tried that route! Mark Hammond and I theorized it was faster than iso flat skiing down Henrys. Only one way to find out! Glad you didn't slap me when we skied together 😂
Awesome video. Sorry for the miserable conditions and not getting to summit kings peak. Y'all are awesome for continuing anyways. Just know that your misery brought so many viewers joy lol. And we appreciate it. And thanks for being safe. Would hate for something bad to happen to y'all. And also nature, Gods creation, is church.
You guys put out amazing/quality content!! Keep up the great work!! I plan on hiking Kings Peak this summer and appreciate the preview from your video! To improve your video discoverability, I would recommend including links to equipment used, adding in hashtags or more descriptive/relevant tags, and consider reviewing similar YT channels such as Adventure Archives, Hiking Guy, Run Steep Get High, Billy Yang Films, Ginger Runner, Four Your Success, and doing a collaboration with a fellow Utah YT channel, Trail & Ultra.
Guys, I have a suggestion for a future ski-venture in OR. South Sister-Middle Sis- North Sister. If that's not enough, if you do it in June-ish you can ride your bikes on Hwy 242 (like in Yellowstone, no cars) down to Clear lake, then mt. bike the Mckenzie trail and finish with the secret-ish hot spring in the river. You can take me along if I don't have to eat a gas station burrito or stand in the middle of an avy prone run-out.
Love your videos and your state, which I just visited in April with my family. After binge watching all of your videos, some several times, I’ve noticed that Blake and Christof are never on a trip together. Also, when Matt flies the heli, Blake is not on the trip. I figure it just works out that way with family and all, or is Blake an anti-heli man, lol. Keep up the awesome videos.
Christof cursed you guys with that church comment, hahahaha!! The old school God of the 1st testament decided to smite you guys with a long ass bush bash, poor snow conditions and the gale force wind. Oh well. Congrats to Danny for not melting down into a series of "You've got to be KIDDING me?!?!/?!" and "is THAT too much to ask" moments ;-)
I attempted King’s late last April. It was an unsuccessful long long slog. Snow turned to isothermal slush in the Basin. Did y’all determine that the avy danger was too high with the Gunsight couloir and Andersen Pass? What was your original approach plan? I’ll be reattempting here soon.
Any chance you guys might be sponsored by Fischer? ;-) Great stuff as usual, being able to be wise while climbing is always quite admirable, but why didn't you climb on the rocky section that we see on the left? Seems to go all the way to the pass?

Those make for the best adventures. Embrace the suck!

@Zyaire Charlie shut up
I don't understand why my son watches people playing games on youtube whilst I watch 3 men walk up and down a mountain. But I find it so enjoyable!
I watch both
For some strange reason, watching you all struggle and suffer brings a broad smile to my face. Keep up the great work.
"I take it all back, I'd rather be in church!" =)

Those are the types of trips that you look back fondly on many MANY years down the road. Or at least until your muscles are no longer sore.
I totally agree.
Not sure what YT algorithm got this into my video suggestions, but really glad I saw it. Like you, I have done Kings Peak in the summer, but appreciated seeing the approach in winter conditions.
"how much time do we give him before we just go" aha. Great insight to this route and as always, thanks for the digestible, high quality content
How am I only now discovering your channel. Love it!
Great use of “Carmen” as you slog along and Mother Nature shows you who’s boss. Amusing!
Fantastico! I like Aaron’s style. That’s the way to roll. Not late, always on time.
"I will never complain about a long slog again" Until the next trip! Too funny Danny.

This appears to be better suited to a two-day backpack trip in SEPTEMBER! Does Christof EVER feel good???!!!! Too funny.

Good taste in music, I saw the shins being played in the background. Also cool videos, as someone living in Utah this is great to see!
Holy sh!t, Christoff with the 'I take it back, I'd rather be in church)! 🤣😂

Hiked Gilbert a few weeks ago, looks like a fun one to ski!
As always, very nicely shot, edited, and narrated! Thanks for another entertaining and inspiring video that'll get me out there more! Good decision on the turn-around at Anderson, too.
Wow! A plan is just a starting point.. expect it to change because it usually will 😎Cool day trip though, well done.
this is one of your best videos
Congratulations on Gilbert. You are one peak down in your quest to climb the highest peak in each of Utah's 29 counties!
Great video, what a slogfest. That's why we call it Alpinheimers.
Great content guys!
Glad you tried that route! Mark Hammond and I theorized it was faster than iso flat skiing down Henrys. Only one way to find out! Glad you didn't slap me when we skied together 😂
iuk1985 ha! We put two and two together later that day. “Wait, that was that IAN!!!”
How many jackets did Christof bring with him??? And how many times did he change jackets??? He's in a different jacket every other shot.

Great effort guys!!!

Taylor Anderson always wondered if there’s enough steep to ski from Belknap crater down to hwy 126 near Clear Lake?
Great video. I always thought skiing down from there would be cool. I guess it takes the right conditions still.
I had a brother die in an avalanche in the uintas. Smart move to play it safe...
Love your channel. Great production and funny and informative commentary. You should have way more subs, but you already know that 😀
ive been wondering what the route looks like right now lol, thanks guys!!
Good call, welcome back Arron
Great video.
Can you do a gear video please

Better to be out there in creation, than to be in church!!!! Agree 100%
“A brutal bushwack slog through slush” 😂
You guys are awesome 👌 👏
Great job, appears you did not use heli? Skied the NE face of Gilbert a few years back and Kings via gunsight in 2008. Both long, great days!
THIS WAS UPLOADED ON MY 30TH BIRTHDAY!!! I really wish i could climb in Washington with y'all
Christof cursed you guys with that church comment, hahahaha!! love the vids man, Thanks!!
LMAO ! Looked like a fun Day . Better luck next time .
Better than going to church on Sunday. I am gonna remember that.
the classical piece-from an opera, I think; what piece is it? I know I've heard it many times, just can't place it!!
Wait.. There an alternate route yet you choose the one with avalanche danger? Great example of how elevation and fatigue can affect decision making 😬😬
Can you do a gear breakdown of what you bring on these trips?
You should do a video of your gear. Boots and skis and all that
Great, lots of fun 😁
Those blue pants are so tight!!
I gotta ask how your bottles never freeze. I keep a bottle INSIDE my jacket and it always ices up eventually
You guys should do the three highest peaks in one day
Does Christoff use the dynafit TLT Expedition binding?
Type 1.6 fun.
What's the song between 2 and 5 minutes of the video. I need to listen to it more, sounds so chill
Kristof, you let him do it to you again! Seriously guys, these videos are a hoot, thanks for sharing them.
I'll never learn
Anderson pass is so steep I am surprised it can hold enough snow to get dangerous.
christophs style is unmatched.......Dynafit everything.........skis BD skis hahaha
Ha! As someone admittedly OCD when it comes to brand consistency, I assure you I find it even more ridiculous than you.
Any chance you guys might be sponsored by Fischer? ;-)
Great stuff as usual, being able to be wise while climbing is always quite admirable, but why didn't you climb on the rocky section that we see on the left? Seems to go all the way to the pass?
Can you please put what music you use? I'm on video number 5 and still none identitifed.
Aaron is so cool. This is probably my favorite UA-cam channel at the moment. Have you thought about doing gear reviews?
Wanship is actually pronounced "Won-ship". I live there! Cool video tho!
Us too!
Realllly? Utah has some of the most out-of-the-box pronunciations
@@Dontbustthecrust
Then you really need to look up some of their beliefs.
@@at6686 what in the H are you talking about?
@@Dontbustthecrust
Read the Book of Mormon. It’s pretty self explanatory.
Would like to know what ski gear you are using.
Christof looks very vascular.
Ha! I'll let him know.
All the shade at aaron lmfao
which month was the video recorded ?
Through woods I've done too much of that here in MI
Kristoff is my spirit animal
How about Mt. Elbert for a ski trip? They are reporting 200% snow pack and there isn't a very high avalanche danger. (Hi Remington)
Sounds like a good idea. It's on the list.
Sufferfest. I did this hike in the summer and I thought that was rough. Jesus
Have you ever thought about doing the Barkley Marathons? I bet you guys can handle that.
They could for sure do one lap...
Nice job guys. Way to persist
I enjoy the music a lot but, is there any reason why it’s almost the same song anytime? Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Its all good withoit music
Aaron probably has Sprint for cell service, that’s why it’s going to voicemail.
Just goes to show that God has a sense of humor.
Yesterday
We were on our way
Sweet!
you poor bastards :)
can you do a gear overview video
Tiny, they have another channel w reviews. Mediocre amateurs 2. Enjoy!
Mr Nice thank you!
I had it wrong lol. It’s “extra mediocre”.
You're on a peak, you are in church.
24 miles is almost olympic 50k race😂
Cristof hating life again on top of being jetlagged
I'd buy a hat!
Do yall's have an istagram? Or merch? I would be down to buy some sweet merch!
thats what you get for skipping church for adventure
Ha! exactly.
I don't know for sure, but that looked like church to me, with significantly less suffering.
The mountains are my 'church' so to each their own eh!
Very funny last line!!!!
Aaron !! What happened broham ?
Muzac?
9 lazy fat people are jealous of you guyz....
Grandjean Peak with my daughter.... August 2020? I'll put you up. Give me a shout.
Type 2 fun
I guess your video wasn't convincing enough because I just did this yesterday and it was probably the worst experience. Longest approach ever
11:11
bad ass
Better than church?? This IS CHURCH!
Hey....when you skip church what do you expect:)
