Yo, this is such a faithful yet unique interpretation of Angel Island. It really is a great expansion on the original. The instrument choice helps it feel a lot more relaxed and tropical. Plus those new countermelodies sound right at home. Fantastic work, subbed with the bell on. 👍🏾
Totally Good at Games That's great and all, except SR hasn't proven himself to be good at anything except making music in the mega drive soundfont. He wouldn't be a good composer for a game like Mania. He would've been better for something like Sonic "4" or the genesis stages in Forces. Mania is supposed to be nostalgic, but not exactly "retro".
@@aggroknight4259 Sonic Mania is exceedingly retro. It's got Saturn-style pixel art. It's got retro-style music compositions. The game design is retro. It's whole marketing was based on going back to Sonic's Genesis roots in an authentic way.

You click mania mode and hear this. You make a save select as sonic and tails, and get to the first level. You get to here, but this is just a cutscene. No level. You’re confused, but watch the cutscene.
I admire your works a lot. In this case I prefer some parts of the original one way over this even though the sample quality is better in your version. The bridge parts in the original one are so much more fun to listen to, because of the great use of instruments. The attempt of creating a more chill version is very nice though, but for me this one isn't on par with your other works like launch base or spring yard zone.
Really good covers, always surprising me how good quality instruments you can use... Next rearranged to make is metal squad from thunderforce IV or Dreamer from streets of rage 2... that would be awesome... :-D
I love the Death Egg themes, so strong and gritty. Personifies the YM2612 so well with the pure sound and heavy bass. I wonder how Savaged would do it but it doesn't need a re-due.
@Savaged Regime - This is really well done. Whats your thought process when remixing something that's well established? There are a couple of songs/music out there so well ingrained/liked that its hard to imagine them being changed without compromising what makes them good.

The ladder effect is made up for in the bridge, sounds great through a set of headphones. Sounds almost like a phase pedal.
