I have just watched your upload and never noticed before that the 255/35/20 mm/mm/" why would that be? Plus whats the max width and aspect on that ratio that's acceptable on that setup?
I wouldn't run extremely stretch but I do want a little bit just because I think it looks clean. I think meaty tire setups can look clean too but I have a stock fender Z and I also don't want to throw off the weight/speedo potentially by running fat tires.
Here's an idea if you don't know what to call it just called at GS basically means a grip stretch which sounds pretty simple and it doesn't sound weird just use the term grip stretch cuz you stretching the tire but the same time you still have that strong grip
I apologize if this question sounds crazy I'm still learning. I understand you can stretch the width of a tire but can you stretch the diameter? My tire specs are 225/45/17. Can I stretch that on to an 18x8.5 wheel? If not, can I stretch it on to a 18x8 wheel? My tires are designed for 17x7 wheels but I really want an 18 inch wheel with a wider tire but nothing past 8.5. If anybody can help me with this I would appreciate it a lot. I'll even send a dollar to you on PayPal😂
Matt Parker not sure if i‘m using the right terminology. Not a native speaker. You can’t put a 17 inch tire on an 18 inch wheel because the bead that keeps the tire on the wheel is partly made of steel. And steel won’t stretch. So if you want to run an 18 inch wheel you will need new tires. In this case 225/40R18 (wich a run aswell). My wheels have a 7,5 inch width wich is basically this square look. If I understood Alex right you could go up to 9 inch on this tire (for a stage 3 stretch) before you get problems with debeading
@@lucagrundmann9469 Thank you for making it clear to me. I will go with 17x8.5 wheels now. Do you have PayPal? I will send you that dollar no problem cause I really wanted to know 😂
Matt Parker it’s no Problem. Just make sure you get the right offset or you have to use spacers. Otherwise you‘ll hit your suspension with the wheel inside
This is a very important video.. One thing you forgot to tell.. Is that, stretched tire should use more air.. How much? You tell me!!! Maybe make a video about that.... When i put my stage 2 a lot of people had a lot of opinion on how much air.. What would you recomend? 195/45-15

That's where u like living in Germany .... Not only all those inches and mm and stuff but the law going to it as well u dont need to think about an 205 / 40 on an 8,5 wheel cause our law says that 215/40 to an 8,5 '' wheel is the max + the fact that ur new tire size need's to match up with the old one so ur speedometer doesnt tell u an wrong number u are allowed to go 100 km/h when ur speedometer says ur going 104 km/h but u are only allowed to go 100 km/h when ur speedometer says ur going 99 km/h so law can get u in trouble thinking about tire sizes as well
ill be honest. 245/40/18 on a 9.5 is like practically square LOL. It didnt even feel like a stretch when i ran that setup. Went back down to a 225/40/18 for 9.5. Thats kinda the sweet spot witout it being RIDICULOUS stretch. You could try runnin a federal as they run 1 size up. So a 225 federal is more like a 235 on other tires. When i ran my 245 n 225 on that 9.5 and a 275/40/18 on a 11” wheel, both were on an achilles atr tire. Not sure if those were slightly beefier then normal tires or not cause i dont recall achilles being like federal tire fattness. Gonna be testing some Ling Ling Nankang tires on my 9.5 n 11s later on after i reseal my wheels. 225/40/18 n 265/35/18.
If your wheel is 19 x 10.5, don't you have to account for a little more because usually they're measured from inside the... barrel(idk the correct term here)?... and not the total edge to edge width? Wouldn't that then change the standard tire width you'd run and have to calculate your stretch off of? So, wouldn't my 10.5 wide wheel really be more like 11.5? I swear i watched another video in FI about measuring wheels and the guy said you add an inch.

This is qhat i was looking for. Finally lol. I have stock tires 265/70r18 tires for my silverado. I went to a 18x10 rim. So im gonna be stretching just a little bit
I currently have 275/30/24s all around, my back wheels are 24x10 and my fronts are 24x9 and if I was to go to a 255/30/24 on the front would that give me the same stretch 😅
Pulling my brain out here about what tyre to get for my 18x9.5+35 wheel. Was thinking 245/35/18 OR 255/35/18 Or even 245/45/18 I actually used to have 17x9+42 wheels with 235/40/17 but I didn’t like the stretch it gave so I went with a 245/40/17 I am on BC coilovers and rolled fenders. I don’t want a complete track look car but again don’t want a too silly stretch. Any tips
Would I be able to run a 265/70 (stock 06 Silverado 1500) on a 17x8 (the stock rim is 17/7) so the stretch shouldn’t be that big of a difference right?
Sidewall has nothing to do with stretching, only tire width, sidewall dictates the diameter of the wheel+tire. You can check this on a wheel setup calculator.
So I’m getting these wheel setup for a meaty setup XXR 527’s 18x9.75 (20 offset) with 255/30/18 on rear 18x8.75 (20 offset) with 235/40/18 on front That tyre setup would be pretty sick won’t it
I would need a confirmation from you : when you calculate your stretch stages, I assume you always start your calculations with a 35 thickness tire ? In case this isn’t clear I’ll give an exemple if you reply 👍🏻
Fitment Industries there is no need of an email for this. It is really simple. In your firsr example you say that 255/35 is the square set up for a 10’’ mag. I perfectly understand the 255mm and the 10’’ but where the 35 comes from, why not 30 or 40. My question was does the 35 is always your start point ?

I have just watched your upload and never noticed before that the 255/35/20 mm/mm/" why would that be? Plus whats the max width and aspect on that ratio that's acceptable on that setup?
Hey there, not really sure exactly what your question is, however, we can help you further if you shoot us an email @ shop@fitmentindustries.com
Oppps my 215/40 fell onto my 10.5 🙈
Do a video on best affordable winter tyres?
Good suggestion!
My stock wheel is 6.5 and I’m looking at a 7 wheel is that half inch a big deal or should it be perfectly fine?
I wouldn't run extremely stretch but I do want a little bit just because I think it looks clean. I think meaty tire setups can look clean too but I have a stock fender Z and I also don't want to throw off the weight/speedo potentially by running fat tires.
Came here for the comments section. Love the disclaimer at the beginning of the video.
A very interesting video indeed. Stretching isn't my thing at all, but your explanations of stages and the technical aspects were really interesting.
Awesome work bro, thanks for your time and knowledge 💯
I subscribed to this channel.. I don't regret it.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
lmfaooo that disclaimer is why I love you guys
Here's an idea if you don't know what to call it just called at GS basically means a grip stretch which sounds pretty simple and it doesn't sound weird just use the term grip stretch cuz you stretching the tire but the same time you still have that strong grip
6:50 perfectly timed for the ads. To cut in XD!
What would be an perfect stretch for a 19 x 10.5 rim??what trie size?
How about a 215/70/15 on a 10" wheel
Been waiting for this for a while. TY.
@@lucagrundmann9469 I know about the offset but thanks dude
Its true Alex, this do common that the installer very often forgetting to inform the customer that stretching is outside the waranty of the tire..
Karate chop on articulate :)))...Man I've seen like stage 8 stretches in Japan lol
This is a very important video..
One thing you forgot to tell..
Is that, stretched tire should use more air..
How much? You tell me!!!
Maybe make a video about that....
When i put my stage 2 a lot of people had a lot of opinion on how much air..
What would you recomend?
195/45-15
Giving stretch a “stage”
Whoa I know the guy from the first video insert! It's an old video but I believe he still goes by the name of KEEK. Has a cool bagged Mk4 Golf nowadays :)
That's where u like living in Germany .... Not only all those inches and mm and stuff but the law going to it as well u dont need to think about an 205 / 40 on an 8,5 wheel cause our law says that 215/40 to an 8,5 '' wheel is the max + the fact that ur new tire size need's to match up with the old one so ur speedometer doesnt tell u an wrong number u are allowed to go 100 km/h when ur speedometer says ur going 104 km/h but u are only allowed to go 100 km/h when ur speedometer says ur going 99 km/h so law can get u in trouble thinking about tire sizes as well
You can spie check it with your phone.
Some of the 4 wheelin coal rollin trucks around here seem to have found the tire stretch calculator 🤔
Can you do a video on how to know what set up or know what off set of size wheels for cars
So I would be a stage 4? 215/35 18 on a 10.5?
Austin Hebert s5* 4 down tire width an 1 up wheel size..
Yeah that sounds like sudani gang
5 Playboi!
hello! thanks for info as always! what stage of stretch does 18x9.5 wheel with a 245/40 tires on it?
That would be stage 2! If you ever have any fitment questions, Just shoot us an email at shop@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you!
ill be honest.
Agent_Q1207 oh thank you for this. Canada has its wierd roads. i have continental tires tho. i wanted more meat but i bougt 245 lmao
You explained how and now you should explain why...
There is no why. At least no positive why.
Stage 2 for me I think lol, 235/40/19x10.5
stage 1
im running 205/45/17s on my 17x9s on my mk4 jetta with coilovers, it is mint
I have a 09 Lancer Gts 215/45/18 what do I do if I want bigger tires ??

Hello!
I need help. Which stage of strech will I get with 265/30 tyre on 20x10 wheel?
Thank you for your help!
That would be a very mild or a stage 1! So very minimal. -Edgar
@@FitmentIndustries thank you!
My brain hurts. 🙃
Can I stretch a 225/45 17s on a 17x8 with 30mm offset ?? Need help
soon people gonna be putting motorcycle tires on their 17x10s lmao
Hey, at least with bike tyres you don't have to worry about camber!
@@SoulTouchMusic93 LOL
😂😂😂
This is qhat i was looking for. Finally lol. I have stock tires 265/70r18 tires for my silverado. I went to a 18x10 rim. So im gonna be stretching just a little bit
2:44 *Me trying to explain how close the race was to my friends
So if I run a 225/40 on a 10.5 wide that’s a stage 3 right??
But if I run a 225/45 is that technically a stage 2?
Did you ever find an answer cause I’m trying to figure out if I can fit 225/55 on a 9. Local tire shop said no
How to perfectly stretch your tires:
Step 1: You don’t , you don’t stretch your tires 😑
MidNight DarkChocolate step 2: yes you do
Such a headass
5. It's New School Way Now Old school are OG's
Exactly, it's only for show, or to be a cheap ass. Not for performance.
I currently have 275/30/24s all around, my back wheels are 24x10 and my fronts are 24x9 and if I was to go to a 255/30/24 on the front would that give me the same stretch 😅
How am i running 215-35-18? It's max stretched out tough" 🤣
Hey is custom offset the same company? Cuss the website and the logo and inventory are almost identical
DUDE 315/30? on a 19x14? WHO TF IS RUNNING THAT 🤣🤣
Crossovers. BMW X5Ms, etc.
Edit: or someone wit' dat wiiiiide body kit.
So, what would a 235/40 R18 on a 18x9.5 wheel be in terms of stretch?
Stage 2
im a stage 2 meaty
Pulling my brain out here about what tyre to get for my 18x9.5+35 wheel.
Was thinking
245/35/18 OR 255/35/18
Or even 245/45/18
I actually used to have 17x9+42 wheels with 235/40/17 but I didn’t like the stretch it gave so I went with a 245/40/17
I am on BC coilovers and rolled fenders.
I don’t want a complete track look car but again don’t want a too silly stretch.
Any tips

Fitment Industries done dudes 👍🏻
Guess I have stage 1 meaty
So a 225/40 9.5" wheel is stage 1? Hopefully?
Because mine looks like a stage 2 or 3 lol
lol bet 😂 Upload some pictures to our gallery and lets see your fitment! www.fitmentindustries.com/add-wheel-offset
Don't stretch your tires. Be safe.
Would I be able to run a 265/70 (stock 06 Silverado 1500) on a 17x8 (the stock rim is 17/7) so the stretch shouldn’t be that big of a difference right?
What is the proper setup for 205s on 15 Inchers for track purpose (best handling and grip) ?
Sidewall has nothing to do with stretching, only tire width, sidewall dictates the diameter of the wheel+tire. You can check this on a wheel setup calculator.
Whats the best stretch for 8.5 x 20 and 10 x 20, I don't want a crazy stress but I want rim to poke ?
So I’m getting these wheel setup for a meaty setup
XXR 527’s
18x9.75 (20 offset) with 255/30/18 on rear
18x8.75 (20 offset) with 235/40/18 on front
That tyre setup would be pretty sick won’t it
I would need a confirmation from you : when you calculate your stretch stages, I assume you always start your calculations with a 35 thickness tire ? In case this isn’t clear I’ll give an exemple if you reply 👍🏻
Hello, Shoot us your question via email at wheels@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you with this!
