Not at the moment but I probably will for the new set of wheels I got for my g35. They’re Rays LMGT3’s :) 18x9+25 in the back and 18x7+22 in the front, nice and flush without spacers. I’m also on coilovers and it’s dumped, and rolled so if I pick the right sizing of tires and a bit of fender pulling they’ll be nice and tucked with no rubbing. I currently have 235’s on the back, and I don’t want a lot of stretch so hopefully it’s not too crazy.

Fitment Industries When I got my first set of stretched tires no one in my county would install them, except for Farm &Fleet. And my my my they didn’t like me very much after that, let alone they scraped the life out of my esr wheels lip. The next set of tires for it I drove a county over to a pro shop. Lesson learned😂

I have 13x8 +4 wheels with a 205/60 tire on my Miata. I mounted the wheels myself and balanced them with harbor freight tape weights. My TRD Camry came with factory 235 40 19 Michelin Primacy tires. The wheel is 8.5 inch wide so it has a slight stretch on it from factory. The minimum recomended tire size is 235 on 8.5 so it looks great and I have felt the consistancy in hard cornering. My steering response is incredible and the way this thing changes directions at high speeds is amazing. Now the tire and light weight and suspension setup of the car helps as well. It has different suspension than the XSE V6 Camry from factory. These wheels are lighter and TRD installed this size for better side lateral grip. So the tires matter. My next tire is a Michelin Pilot Sport Allseason 4 which is hella better in performance and ride quality. I will be putting the same factory size on and my car will perform WAY better. At the same size those tires are 2 pounds less then the factory tire so less rolling resistance. I look forward to that. So I think a very slight stretch might help performance based on the level and compound of tire and suspension setup. Anything more and it looks unsafe to be honest. Remember engineers provide us with maximum and minimum number for tires and wheel fitment for a reason.

It's very easy. Tires are measured by mm. Example. 8 inch wide is 203 mm. So run a tire size that's closest to that measurement. 205 or 215 would get you that perfect vertical sidewall.

    • @snek9353
      @snek9353 4 роки тому

@@vizualmrs Close, 205 for example is section width(widest point when mounted on preferred wheel) not tread width and tread widths vary between tires of the exact same sidewall marked dimensions. Tread width is what needs to be matched and it's generally an inch or so narrower then the section width. The Tire Rack website does a great job listing tread width and recommended wheel width.

I have a 215/35/R19 stretch on a 8.5J square setup, which is bordering on illegal but still isn't a big stretch by any means and I honestly don't know how people can go any further. Especially on a daily driver with painted/powder coated wheels.
It's just enough for the outer bead lip of the alloy wheel itself to protrude, and it's so prone to peeling by literally anything that touches it. I'm not even talking about kerb rash, I mean I have to get my wheels refurbished almost as often as I change my oil because the stone chippings from the road just destroy the coating on the wheels.

I’m running 245/45/19 on euroline vip wheels with very low offset with coilovers for clearance and barely rolled fenders. I don’t mind stretch tires so much but I hate low sidewalls. Realistically, on the street there will be flying over potholes you didn’t know were even there, unpaved or wet and standing water surfaces. Low profiles remind me of exotic cars being driven slowly around downtown. Yikes!
45 is pretty tall for a larger wheel diameter like mine, or 40 is usually enough for an aggressive look. Lower than that and you’re going to bend a rim, and end up selling them at 300% off to someone who knows a guy who can fix it lol
They have calculators online for this stuff. I used one that it told me how much clearance I would have before my wheel hit the bolt on my upper control arm ball joint after entering which car is my model. I drive a 90’s car. It’s stance looks like a charger now because huge rims and tires: I put my wheels on and have less than 5mm clearance to upper ball joint…that’s fitment too!

@@donkyuhbuhts540 lol you might be right but I was hoping they are just hinting on it for next topic. I've seen some nice squared off set ups with nice lips that just look aggressive. I also wish they would go in to a Dajiban Watanabe wheel and tire set ups. So far all I got is wheel diameter is 16 lol

Idk, I like my 195/50 on my 8. I did have a 195/50 on a 9 but I went back to the 8. I worried more driving aggressively on that setup for sure. I am one of those people that likes the look too.

alright lemme cop some quick internet second opinions (I know what im getting myself into)
Bought a awd daily, came with 9.5x18 wheels with a 225, bout 3 degrees of camber in back. I was going to put 255s on but the tires are basically new and i could use the money so i was just going to ride it out until next fall. but i live in michigan and its spring. is the stretch so excessive i should worry about things like hydroplaning or am i probably safe until the fall?

I don't think it's the best idea. My cousin had stretched tires on his integra. Almost every 2-4 months one of his tires would blow out either from sidewall cracks or hitting the smallest pothole on the road. Not to mention that it messed with the wheel balance so much that anytime he went faster than 50mph his car would shake

They're talking about tire stretching the tires on my car is wider than the rim I'm supposed to have 215 with but I got 235 with but I was doing a rally build and it makes it look really beefy

Lol when I was a tire tech I had to mount 31x10.50s onto 15 inch wide wheels and it was the sketchiest shit I've ever had to do haha two beads blasters and an air hose clamped directly to the core blowing 120 psi into it and half a bucket of Murphy's grease

Well, on a low performance cars that build for the sake of the looks, running stretch wont affect anything besides look. But on higher performace car, you cant really drive'em fast anymore 'cause it'll be sketchy as hell.

Hey, I gotta question that I rarely see people talking about. How do you guys calibrate your speedometers when you guys change wheel/tires that change the overall diameter of the setup? Do you guys just always remember your speedo is wrong or is there something I’m missing cuz all the products I find online only work for trucks/jeeps...

Stretched tires can be good depending on driving, a lot of drifters will use a little stretch to stiffen the sidewall for more response, not a crazy stancy stretch tho, other than that or fitment its wack
