I ran at the Phillip Island parkrun yesterday, an hour and a half from Melbourne. Beautiful place to run, farm with cattle, geese and the odd wallaby on one side, water views across the bay to French Island and the mainland on the other. 100% agree that parkruns are a great thing to do when away from home!
Completed my 50th different event yesterday! Love a bit of tourism. Good way to explore the area & see places you wouldn’t normally. Did Chalkwell earlier this year, the wind on the way back nearly killed me 🤣
That looked nice. I have the local Parkrun 1.5 miles from my front door in an actual park. Run there, do it, run home. 6 miles banked thank you very much. And yesterday was my 193rd! You should come along. We have hills, turns, on and off road, a lake to run through when it’s wet and 300 ish runners each week. None of this flat out and back nonsense😉🤣
Done my first parkrun yesterday, just local. Fantastically well organised and great fun all round. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to to actually do one. Looking at doing the Bexley park run in July when we’re visiting family down that neck of the woods

Could come to Tasmania, Australia. We have some great Parkruns. My home Parkrun is Burnie - North West Coast. Sea views all the way :) I have traveled to the Australian Mainland and ran the Shepparton Parkrun which was also great. Goes around Victoria lake - Lots of Wildlife
3:00 That actually could be a good video Fordy, pre-run nutrition, what to eat/drink before a run, actually for different kinds of runs. While sprint training once here, I came across a gentelman who claimed he became Balkan second in the 90's (I checked his name online it seemed legit) and he mentioned this and that nuts and dried fruits etc etc, nothing I'm too knowledgable about, as I do my weight training and sprint training all fasted (fat adapted).
1) not everyone has a car or access to one, so the luxury/convenience of “getting up early” may not be feasible for everyone. 2) because there are “lots of parkruns” doesn’t mean they’re accessible to everyone. I have a friend in Cumbria and his “nearest” parkrun is about 13km away. Fortunately I have two parkruns within walking distance, and three that are about a bus ride away. Parkrun tourism is nice but if I have to leave at 5am to get to a parkrun…nah. Like Toby said, if you’re away, then do a local parkrun (if you can).

I have done over 30 different parkruns. Holidays tend to have a parkrun in them. It’s a great way of seeing new places.

Come to Highwoods Parkrun in Colchester, it's an absolute beast with a massive hill at the end. 💪🏻

Did the Pokkinen Parkrun in Oulu Finland last Saturday. First in my age category but the only one in my age category. Only 10 participants. 😄
