  • Regurgitator is a band that formed in the 90s in Brisbane, Australia. The band members came together through connections in the local music scene. Their sound was a fusion of punk, metal, and pop, and they aimed to create music that was more groove-based and focused on songs. They signed a record deal with Warner and released several albums. The band's inspirations included Primus, Faith No More, and Devo. Their latest album, Invader, explores themes of invasion, mental health, and indigenous culture. The band emphasizes the importance of authenticity and connection in their music. The conversation covers various themes, including living in the present moment, the importance of self-expression and community, the challenges of navigating life's ups and downs, the power of performance and privilege, the role of art in connecting with the human experience, the responsibility of artists to speak out, the impact of systems of control, the need for love and connection, the struggles of neurodivergent individuals, the value of animation in music videos, the influence of technology and social media, the importance of meditation and self-reflection, and the potential for personal growth through challenging experiences. In this final part of the conversation, Dave Bruce talks about his experiences with meditation and retreats, the importance of being comfortable with oneself, the power of collaboration in music, and his thoughts on legacy and favorite things.
"When you become comfortable with your prison, you don't go back."
