I am old enough to remember that after MM died sexy blondes where treated like dirt in Hollywood ,that is why Jayne Mansfield really struggled to keep her career going as she did,she too was very smart and a talented actress when she was allowed to be ... May they rest in peace.
When I lived in San Diego in the 70s I met a guy who had delivered pizza to Raquel at her home. He said he was surprised that she was smaller than he thought, and she was wearing a caftan or sweats, something the equivalent of comfy stay at home clothes. He said she was really nice, came across as a sweet person. And she gave him a good tip. So there's my Raquel story that isn't even really mine! She always gave me the feeling she was "good folk."
I met her once in Beverly Hills at Lunch, same day I met Arnold Swarznegger, and she was PROFOUND. She made a Huge Impression on me, she was Very Humble.

Raquel was beautiful and sexy. She was also an extremely talented actress who excelled at comedy. She was typecast as a sex symbol at a young age. It took years and fierce determination to land acting parts outside of those bombshell ones. She was very private. Read that she was grounded, down to earth, and had a good sense of humor. Some of that was due to her family upbringing. The rest due to her relentless pursuit of good acting roles. She was also a very loving mother. Thanks, Karine for this video tribute to Raquel Welch!

I worked for her ex-husband, James Welch, in the mid-eighties. One day he was out and Raquel called the house. She wanted to leave a message and spelled out her name for me. She was very polite and nice on the phone. I have always thought that she was incredibly stunning. Well, that is my brush with the famous! Thanks for the video.

Karine my friend, you did a wonderful job here telling Raquel's story and giving us an insight into who she was as a person. You are one of my favorite content creators and I love getting your perspective as a Haitian-American because I'm so ignorant about racial issues here in nearly all-white Iceland. I never heard skin-color or ethnicity be used against people because all the adopted 'foreign' kids had Icelandic parents and were no different from the rest of us, aside from being born elsewhere. That both gave me a very equality-based view towards other races but also made me really ignorant about their culture. That is why I appreciate your take so much, you aren't here preaching to us but educating us through your own perspective. You do it very well. Always a pleasure! Looking forward to the rewatch :)
As always I appreciate your gracious and factual bios on so many women that I have admired. You report things as they were but you don’t trash anyone and you show all of the person not the sensational. I admired Raquel but did not know all this. Even more to admire how brilliant she was. Thank you!
Karine, I want to thank you for your content. Your channel is one of my fav channels here on UA-cam AND you are SO respectful towards the celebrities whom you do your documentaries on. I actually fall asleep to that lovely voice of yours. It's so calming and relaxing and your brother's smooth music in the background makes it even more beautiful. We keep BEGGING you to try your hand at ASMR, and I'm sure you're familiar with it. You should start by reading some sort of book where it's just your voice. Your platform is already huge, but I guarantee you, it will blow up even more should you decide to do ASMR. BTW: My Grandfather was Haitian, and I speak a broken dialect of French as well. They call it "Cajun/Creole" French where I'm from, which is Louisiana. You feel so homely to me and I can't get enough of your channel and that silk voice! Well, enough of this "book writing", I just wanted you to know how appreciated you are and how much we love you. I am a STRAIGHT woman, and YOU are the most beautiful exotic woman I've ever seen! Sending you love and light from Louisiana! Lisa R. Lavalais ♥️

I always liked Raquel Welch. I thought she was funny, smart and beautiful. She was never vulgar. I was very sad when I heard of her death. I thought she'd live longer too because I read what a healthy living person she was. Her daughter is beautiful too.
I really appreciate and enjoy your dedicated research and commentary! I grew up watching movies with Raquel Welch due to my mother's love for old cinema. Thank you and I look forward to each of your videos!
Wonderful analysis and such appreciation. You are an awesome creator. I usually don’t like celebrity info at all. You are really humanizing these icons. ❤
OMG! I agree with you on the age thing. I say the same thing as you do and my co-workers will say things like what they have lived their lives they are old. I'm like they are still so young, where I came from my family live to be 106 plus still working, cooking, cleaning, seeing just fine and walking perfectly. I really like that Mrs. Welch tried to live her true/original self - that industry will break and use you, then throw you out (if you survive) then find another that resembles you. I really did like her and was very sad when she passed away.
Eva Mendes says she's a white American so she can stay over there. Yes, she favors her a teeny bit but not as half as beautiful. Definitely not the body.
I think the only woman who was probably even prettier than Raquel was Ursula Andress, especially in "She". A bit of 'pub trivia'; Raquel had a tiny part in the 1964 Elvis Presley film "Roustabout"; She's with the troublesome students when E sings a song called 'The Poison Ivy League'. Ironically, Ursula was in the Elvis film "Fun in Acapulco".
@eileencoburn8631 oh heavens no Raquel is much more beautiful. Ursula always looked like something was off and too pale, no hips. She was kind of built like a boy. Raquel have that deep rich tan you all are always trying to achieve and very shapely.
Awesome presentation of Rachael Welch. So fortunate to have grown up during her time on this earth. No one should under estimate her positive impact on woman or Hollywood. May she rest in peace.
I absolutely loved Raquel. I still have her fitness book which was Hatha Yoga, 10 times tougher than regular yoga, and not to mention a $40 million wig empire. She will be missed. Great video, Thank you 🙏🏼💙
I so agree with you when it comes to the age factor. I'll be 75 in September but feel like I'm no more than 50. Raquel was young at only 82, in todays world that is young. She was very bright and I admired her for her strength.
The ultimate beauty. Gorgeous all the way to the end! And humble as well. Plus her SKIN was like BUTTAH, just look at it when she was younger, my goodness! And her mother was just as beautiful!
The issue with having such beauty is that you become objectified, especially by the men that pursue you. They don’t see you as human but the image/persona they have of you in their heads.
I so agree with what you said about the age thing. I'm American, yes, but. I'm Creole. Black and Native. People still driving their own vehicles at 98. My great grandmother was the one whom took me to pick out all of the accessories for my cheerleader uniform and said the skirts were too LONG.
Thank you for this very illuminating and respectful tribute honoring Raquel Welch. Like everyone, she is a complex woman not a two dimensional image. Unfortunately, when that is the reason you’re successful, it comes at a great cost. One could say that she chose it and fed it, but I don’t think that she knew all of the implications when she was encouraged to do that by her husband, and once you’re pegged, you are pegged. It would be difficult for a beauty like Raquel Welch not to be put into that role by Hollywood. I would say she was not only underappreciated as an actress, she just wasn’t even offered the opportunity to play roles where she would have a chance of being nominated for an Oscar. Probably her best performances were in the four musketeers, and in the film, where she portrayed one of the members of a roller derby team, she was offered almost no serious acting roles. The gorgeous women who have received Oscars for performances like Halle berry were usually in films Where they completely played against type, that is, they played a very unattractive, or disturbed woman, whose beauty was played down in the film. By the way, many say that comedy is much harder to perform than drama, because perfect timing and the tone of your voice and your facial expressions, and so many things go into whether something is funny, or not. finally, if you never saw the magazine photo campaign for the fur company, Blackgama, which started with the tag, “what becomes a legend most?“ Raquel was one of many Hollywood stars offered the campaign and is the only one I remember. It was sensational. They don’t sell fur anymore and they don’t advertise it but damn, I remember that ad campaign to this day, and I was a child when it came out. Her sensuality really was more real than Marilyn Monroe‘s. It was earthy but never trashy. she was a sexy bombshell, but more than that >a gorgeous woman who had depth and tried to show it, but a lot of people didn’t want to see it, they just wanted to see her boobs. A personal anecdote: I was an undergraduate at UCLA in the 1980s and it was announced that Raquel Welch was going to appear at the student union that day in conversation, it might have been part of the book signing promotion. Of course I had to go. She had recently been fired from a film, and it was quite humiliating for her at that time. The little I remember of it she was extremely self-contained and articulate, and presented herself in a very sophisticated, well dressed etc. I don’t recall her wearing anything that was particularly provocative. After she talked, they opened it up to students to ask questions, and some radical lesbian went to the microphone and proceeded to completely dress her down for her image in a very political and cruel way. I’m sure Racquel did not know that was coming and I think she responded to it in the best way that she could. this was coming from another woman and of course many women also couldn’t handle Raquel Welch and Judged here quite seriously. This was a feminist who had a problem with her image and how she made money, but of course wouldn’t know that she refused to take her clothes off and tried to work in Hollywood with self respect., and get more serious roles but was handicapped by her looks. She should be offered jobs like anybody else and play roles that were appropriate for her. Can’t help it if she’s got a knockout body. I think the students, particularly the male students, just started shouting down this lesbian and that was that. It wasn’t even funny what she was doing.
When Raquel and Cher did that song "I'm a Woman" on Cher's comedy hour, I never noticed Cher because Raquel was so beautiful. I like Cher and think she's beautiful too, but not the way Raquel was.
Oh no, I hadn't heard that Raquel died last Wednesday! Oh, my heart!...😢💔 She really hammered the nail on the head, about the problem with fame coming from beauty. In the industry, especially in America, you're "allowed" to be pretty OR smart, NOT both. It's just another facet of our ridiculous caste system. Another icon gone. R.I.P. Raquel. You are missed. 😥🥀 (edited for jumbled spelling. I was pretty shocked to learn she had died...)
Men are threatened by beautiful women. It's about control. People are afraid if someone is beautiful and smart. I'm speaking broadly, but there is truth to it.

That is why I appreciate your take so much, you aren't here preaching to us but educating us through your own perspective. You do it very well.
Always a pleasure! Looking forward to the rewatch :)
I hate that these old stars that have been here my whole 63 yrs are dying off, its just surreal, goodbye Raquel, you were something else!🌹
As always I appreciate your gracious and factual bios on so many women that I have admired. You report things as they were but you don’t trash anyone and you show all of the person not the sensational. I admired Raquel but did not know all this. Even more to admire how brilliant she was. Thank you!
She wanted to be a Grandmother, her Son Damon is 63 and Daughter Tahnee is 61 both never had Children.
RIP 🙏
Maybe why she didn't live longer?😮
Lisa R. Lavalais ♥️
Wow Lisa this was so lovely to read! Thank you so much for your kind words 😭 I am working on an ASMR channel where I read books and poems. ♥️🙏🏼

One more thing, as I know you're a very busy lady: For future references, how do we donate to your channel love? We respect your hard work and dedication!
R.I.P. Ms. Welch ❤
I always liked Raquel Welch. I thought she was funny, smart and beautiful. She was never vulgar. I was very sad when I heard of her death. I thought she'd live longer too because I read what a healthy living person she was. Her daughter is beautiful too.
RIP Raquel Welch ! Thank you for doing this so soon! I love your videos. I wish we understood how she died. Any idea?
Appears to be a closely-guarded secret. Were her kids at her bedside?
I really appreciate and enjoy your dedicated research and commentary! I grew up watching movies with Raquel Welch due to my mother's love for old cinema. Thank you and I look forward to each of your videos!
Research??
She was absolutely SPECTACULAR!!!
Just came across your work,
LOVE IT!
Thank You ❤
This woman is drop dead gorgeous! All natural unbelievable 😍😍
Yes,no plastic sugery,no fake boobs,50 lbs of makeup,etc.Natural beauty,and good morals,intelligent.R.I.P. Raquel.
Wonderful analysis and such appreciation. You are an awesome creator. I usually don’t like celebrity info at all. You are really humanizing these icons. ❤
Raquel's beauty was so captivating, she could easily have been crowned Miss Universe.
Rest in peace Beautiful Raquel Welch 👑🌹🙏🏽🕊
What a wonderful commentator this Karine Alourde !!
I agree… 82 is not that old… it is crazy to think 70 and 80 is old
Purtroppo siamo considerati vecchi già a 50 !
Eva Mendes really favors her… and I always remembered her trick with not eating after 6. She was a legend and an icon.
She does favor her.
Ironically, Ursula was in the Elvis film "Fun in Acapulco".
you're right Ursula Andress was more beautiful than Raquel. She had lovely Germanic features.
Oh, Gosh, NO. Ursula always looks like she is balding.
@eileencoburn8631 oh heavens no Raquel is much more beautiful. Ursula always looked like something was off and too pale, no hips. She was kind of built like a boy. Raquel have that deep rich tan you all are always trying to achieve and very shapely.
RIP Raquel Welch 🙏🏾💕🕊️ Thank you for all the memories and your service
You never fail 👏👏 !!
🙏🏼🙏🏼♥️
SHE WAS A DEFINITE 10+ TO ME. SHE DIDN'T NEED TO BE NAKED TO BE A 10+ FOR ME. JUST TOTALLY BEAUTIFUL DOING NOTHING 😍 RIP SWEET LADY
Halle Berry, has also stated she doesn't eat anything after 6PM
What a great story. What a well-lived life. Thank you
RIP Raquel Welch she was beautiful inside and out.
Great video, Thank you 🙏🏼💙
She was an icon , a classy icon !
I so agree with you when it comes to the age factor. I'll be 75 in September but feel like I'm no more than 50. Raquel was young at only 82, in todays world that is young. She was very bright and I admired her for her strength.
Hello how are you doing?
The ultimate beauty. Gorgeous all the way to the end! And humble as well. Plus her SKIN was like BUTTAH, just look at it when she was younger, my goodness! And her mother was just as beautiful!
Well AllRight!
I am straight up getting Bag Balm tomorrow.
When I was young I thought Raquel was the most beautiful woman in the world 🕊️ All the love ❤
Love ❤ it lots off details & very gripping 😮
The issue with having such beauty is that you become objectified, especially by the men that pursue you. They don’t see you as human but the image/persona they have of you in their heads.
She’s one of those women who looks better and more beautiful as they get older, like Tina Turner. May she rest in peace
It is all about bone structure!
@@privatedeborah1004 But the video says that she was into botox as well!
And with progressive plastic surgery sessions. Rare to find anyone living in California who has not had plastic surgery and botox.
"Absolutely stunning!!!.....Love Raquel!!🌹💋
May she rest in eternal peace!
Very good commentary, but I like your brothers music even more. ♥️🎵
She was wonderful in the movie "Hannie Caulder".
She's one my favourites, she was married and had 2 kids but still followed her dreams
She's so beautiful. I think olive-skinned brunettes are so beautiful. Plus my middle name is Raquel.
EVERY VIDEO A TRUE MASTERPIECE KARINE 💯❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When Raquel and Cher did that song "I'm a Woman" on Cher's comedy hour, I never noticed Cher because Raquel was so beautiful. I like Cher and think she's beautiful too, but not the way Raquel was.
Goes without saying.
Wow, that lemon and flower analogy, I like it.
I can relate. My beauty has always been a curse.
I've never had that problem 😉
Uh-oh, looks like we have a wiseguy!
Oh no, I hadn't heard that Raquel died last Wednesday! Oh, my heart!...😢💔
She really hammered the nail on the head, about the problem with fame coming from beauty. In the industry, especially in America, you're "allowed" to be pretty OR smart, NOT both. It's just another facet of our ridiculous caste system.
Another icon gone. R.I.P. Raquel. You are missed. 😥🥀
(edited for jumbled spelling. I was pretty shocked to learn she had died...)
Men are threatened by beautiful women. It's about control. People are afraid if someone is beautiful and smart. I'm speaking broadly, but there is truth to it.
Raquel-like Sophia Loren was a very smart and understated ..though she is not a weak person. You can't deny her beauty..She was a class act
Raquel was one of the people I see as another star in the public eye
I did not know she sang!! Such a pretty lady.
She was hilarious in Legally Blonde 💗
