Glamour and beauty always keeps us conflicted from reality and the truth. Not only is her beauty allowing people to overlook her marriage with a man who promoted something so heinous with children, but also people overlook her belief there are too many people in Africa, and it needs to be controlled. With no disrespect to him at all her relationship with Edward Norton was extremely well-documented with numerous red carpet appearances over years. She spoke of his support during her passion project, Frida. It was him and Penelope Cruz that seemed closest to her from her interviews then. As a fan of both of them I recall thinking they're a great match in talent and he's supportive but they still broke up. Even what might be great matches aren't always forever. In terms of coverage was her most signoficant relationship before her marriage. Not even her Josh Lucas relationship was as featured in the media. But I will definitely Google this. I've clearly followed her career but didn't know a thing about him such that I thought Atterton must be Norton who was a significant other in the literal meaning of the word. 🙏🏼

I love her and I believe her I am Mexican and Black and I made an attempt to become an actress, but now I am so glad I never made it as a huge actress. God did not have it in the cards for me. I was very impressed after watching her in the recent indie film Beatriz At Dinner. She plays the antithesis of the sexy seductress (or does she?). Her acting range is really authentic and I love that she goes out of her comfort zone, like in this film to play a totally different character than she is accustomed to, and supports the small indie film genre! It's an emotional movie I recommend it. I always admired the slow thoughtful way she speaks (Spanish, English etc) and how Salma carries herself always with poise and grace. Love that you covered her, she's very much an icon.

I've always thought Salma was so beautiful, but what always struck me about her is that she carries it so well. She doesn't come across like she's so wrapped up in her beauty as to seem vain and conceited. And her sex appeal isn't forced, it just is.

For those in the comments saying that Salma, Shakira or Lupita are not actually Latinas because they have Lebanese or because Lupita is actually black let me tell you that being “Hispanic” or “Latino” is NOT a race or ethnicity. We latin@s come from different backgrounds and origins we may come from black, indigenous, middle eastern, white, Spaniard background and still be Latinos and speak Spanish. As a matter of fact Latin America is a melting pot of ethnicities, but most people in the states think we all are brown, with black hair and a mixed featured which we are, but not in the way media sees us. Countries such as Dominican Republic, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, etc have some of the largest African and middle eastern immigrant populations.

We latinos or Latinamericans come in hundreds of mix and ethnic well as pure white or black or any color and from all countries around the world and if we were born and raised here in Latinamerica we embrace the only culture we know, including Salma, Shakira, sofia Vergara, Kristen butchnenerg, Selena Gomez, Thalia, Adrianna Limas, etc and about 5 million expatriates from USA who invest in Mexico and other Latinamerican countries and get their citizenship and like it living here. Plus hundreds of immigrants from around the world.
Mexico is far far from what you see at the border trying to cross legally or illegally into the USA for a job, they work hard in your country doing what others will not do.
The remaining 140 million Mexicans stay here in Mexico maintaining our country as an economical power.
We are the second most powerful economy in Latinamerica only behind Brazil and top 15 in the world. I have a happy life as an industrial engineer in my country with a middle class family that I adore and in a beautiful house that we can afore. Very often I get assignments abroad, specially to USA where I have always been treated with respect and I have never heard nor overheard a racial. I am white with a very heavy Spanish Mexican accent.
