This is so unreal... I’m bouncing around here on YT looking at 434SBC stuff, (cause I have one in my bedroom closet.. no shit), and I come across your channel. This spring I am planning to build my new shop, and I seen the shop in this video! Brother.... this is the roof line I’m looking for! The wooden arched trusses would provide me exceptional clearance for the lift... and the lighting was fantastic. PLEASE reply back and tell me what brand it is or who built it. I’ve been looking for forever to find this type of construction. I know... this is weird and all, but I just don’t want another tin can shop. Thanks much

4&7 and 4&7/3&2 swap explained. Std firing order is 18436(57)2 note 5&7 fire 90 degrees apart and are right next to each other especially with SBC and it’s Siamese intake ports. 5&7 rob each other’s intake charge and make 20-25% less power than the other 6 cylinders. By swapping 4&7 you get 187365(42) and move the same issue to 4&2 where you get better line of sight to the carb due the their location on the right side cylinder bank. It works well in NA engine. In most roots blown, centrifugal blown or turbo application. The front of the manifold sees substantially higher boost pressure than the rear. Making the double swap ideal 1)872654(3 so the higher boost pressure counter act the losses by 3&1 firing 90 degrees apart. Most screw blowers discharge towards the rear of the manifold making the std 18436572 firing order ideal. To make a long story short it’s nothing new just a copy of big and small block fords that had it right from the beginning.

Jantzen Melton thanks! Yeah I talked with Justin about the channel quite a bit last year at the world finals. We also told him that we needed a replacement front motor plate for the car. A small block one. I’ve tried calling a few different times and emailing and I’m having trouble getting ahold of anyone. Get ahold of me sometime so we can get that coming. 6059331698

It's great you and your dad share the same passion..and I'm really very surprised your so vested in the "Old school" so called Small block chevy. what with so many today going to the LS based race program.. I myself still think the Gen 1 Small block is king . it's stout reliability is unquestionable & undeniable ..I happen to know Pavtex build's a 434 inch drag motor that runs on 98 octane pump gas it make's 765 HP at like 7200 RPM and 600 LBS of grunt Now I'm not sure what the cost is but it boasts a Little M block and all the right internals ... I think they are out of Australia .. I'm seeing a few guys even trying to run the SB2 in Top Dragster when the NHRA Top dragsters make the trip up to NY Lebanon valley excellent track ..I'm gonna keep an eye out for you and your dad good luck with the 421 ..

Hey Michael! Not sure if you’ve followed the channel at all this year, but SPOILER!! We yanked the 421 back out mid season. Just didn’t have the consistency like the old tried and true 434. I think that 421 just needed a way looser converter, it wanted to be 8500 all the time, and we didn’t really have the right internals to let it do that... like it was all over the man, I couldn’t turn on a win light!! We switched back to the 434 and the season really turned around!! So yeah I may have just spoiled the last 3 months worth of videos for you 🤣🤣🤣 haha

The 421 is an excellent choice. The increase size in the 434 is purely torque gains (25-40 FPs) with the 4 inch stroke. I ran a 406 sbc for 3 years and have an E85 421 I'm putting in later this month for the season 2019. My 421 is only 628 HP which is 101 HP more then the 406 using Brodix heads. My 2800# Chevy Nova should be very low 10's hopefully. If I ran AFR 227 heads I would likely pick up 50+ more HP, but 800+HP is crazy bad ass! You dad is creating you the best naturally aspirated small block ever! Good luck in 2019!

721 HP We happen to run the same engine sizes, a 421 & 434. The 434 has seen just a touch over 700 on the dyno - that one is a well scienced but budget decent engine. The 421 makes less power as normally drop about 2 tenths but we certainly don't have as much head as you have, nor camshaft in it. Have fun - stay safe.

Regardless, if you guys managed to fill up the holes and just run Babbit Bearings, that will be 1 seriously STIFF (thick) camshaft for some SERIOUS High RPM Stability.... You could make it a flat plane crank also , don't know what it would do, 4 and 7 swap is better for intake pulse balance and crank for a minor anti deflection, because the frequency shall be changed, also the same for the flat plane crank , may lose a little low end tq, and might have a little gain at top end, or shift it up so, i am going to try it in a sbc or ford Dart tall deck with tall stack pipe , 427 c. i. sbc and slightly larger sbf

My son and I have been crewing for my Uncle who runs Comp Eliminator in Div 4 NHRA. My question is, wouldn't a comp motor be labor intensive between rounds in a bracket car? His engine is a 318 CI SM chevy that will turn 10,500 RPM at the finish line. After each round our basic maintenance is to gauge all the valve springs due to the stress. Do you have the time between races running bracket?

Do you have a big block?, brodix is high dollar big block Chevy stuff last i heard.. but i dont know anywhere close to everything..Seems kinda weak with only 500hp.
I'm going to assume with 750cfm feeding 434cid( and you did say Streat truck setup) that the engine isn't turning much rpm. ..hp= torque × rpm/ 5252.. im sure its a nice street cruiser, maybe even a sweet tow setup with plenty of cooling and a little bit of gear.
Just seems you can get that same power and pull for a lot less $..A decent cam in a BBF 460 will due it easy and you would be putting a Ford engine in it..Hope im not coming off too negative, im really just curious about this build. .if you don't mind educate me further about it and let me know your progress so far..sounds like a workhorse on the warpath

The better heads required that we have a little bit shorter stoke in order to get a big enough cam shaft. The heads can flow a lot of air and need a big cam to perform well, so valve clearance would probably have been an issue on a 434 combination.
