Instead of just asking about the components, size of the engine, horsepower and rpm range. I think asking them what fuel/ Compression ratio they are using would be a nice bonus.
@@gordocarbo I was thinking 4.155, I had a Ford FE at 4.125 x 3.98 that was 425.51, and FE heads are 13 degrees and I did some porting and a few tricks to fit 2.19 intakes and 1.58 exhausts and they are early tall port iron. I never dynoed it but that was 40 years ago and I ran it in a 68 Mustang. I guess I was ahead of my time, 12.5 :1 on 96 leaded gas with.034 head squish. I beat a bunch of cars with my “390”. Many I would have no business running, but that thing would rev to 7500-8000 with that top loader. My wife talked me into selling it. She didn’t want me getting killed and she and the kids could not ride in it. I still miss banging the gears, the thing was fast.
@@WesternReloader no problem. You can do a 396 by using a 3.875 crank also. Major torque monster. Easy to crest 500hp and make well over 500 lbs and still be driveable
The 383 is widely known because originally you took a 350 block and clearanced it so you could run a 400 crank in it, that gets you the classic 383 with OEM parts. I think with a basic SBC block you can get close to 427 but not sure. You can get just a tick over 450 ci with a bow tie block but at that point you need some serious heads to flow enough to get power. Most sanctioning bodies cap small blocks at 427 ci.

i’ve always wanted to build a390 FE engine. I also think they’re better than 460s too.

You can actually stroke your 350 block to a 409 its not real common though
