This is a favorite kind of video for me. "Not a bad gun on the table." All good pistols, but each with differences that might appeal to different people. I find it very pompous when someone says, "This is a great firearm and you should have one in your safe." or something to that effect, but you never ever do that. You show the features, the differences, say what you like and don't like and let the viewer decide for themselves what's best for them. 👍
Excellent vid as always. I had the same issue with the original P365 as you. (Grip causing the slide to lock back prematurely) I even had the issue with the XL at times. My wife liked the P365 but she would always end up carrying the G42 instead, so both of the Sig's went by the way side quickly after. With my paws I prefer the thicker frames of the traditional subcompact/compact market. (G26 and similar/larger sized frames) I like to get a full grip without having to adjust just because it's something new. My wife likes the G48 for on the nightstand. She wears a size small/medium glove and can out shoot most of the guys at the range with it, so I'm not gonna argue with her. 😄 Although I can shoot it well without any slide lock issues, and it seems to carry nicely, I still prefer a larger size frame to wrap my paws around. Everyone is different and thankfully we are in an age where there's a gun out there for everyone as long as you know what you're looking for and can shoot it well. I feel like a lot of people get so caught up in having the latest and greatest but the newest doesn't mean it's going to be the best. I never disliked any of the Sig's, I just didn't like that they felt so stinkin' small in my hands. Had the same problem with the G43 when it came out too. Oh they were easy to conceal, but for me that didn't translate into the perfect gun. All the while everyone was jumping ship to them or other single stack 9's at the time.
For me it's more of a 2-part philosophy. If I want a more full sized (or slightly compact version of a full sized) pistol, I'm not doing anything in 9mm. It's .40S&W or better. If I want a compact deep conceal piece for whatever social situation I will be in, I want something in a pocket (pants, coat, whatever). I'd be until a .32 caliber revolver or semi-auto, probably revolver due to less issues with hangups, safeties, mags, buttons and switches, in/out of battery. I find 9mm a solution for neither. Semi-autos function more reliably overall in a larger format. All the micro-sizing eventually impedes function. Go as big as you can, that's how I look at it. As far as capacity goes, all those rounds back in the magazine don't make the round heading down range more effective. For everything else, don't do stupid things with stupid people in stupid places.
I still prefer the G26. Shoots like it's a bigger gun. Still very easy to carry concealed. Outside of when I carry a revolver I have been carrying a G26L & a G27L (19 or 23.5 slide with slide adapter on a 26.5 frame).
Great vid! You forgot to mention the 365XL has the X trigger (flat face) Vs the standard curved 365 trigger. Many people prefer the flat face trigger over the standard 365 trigger
Yes the Glock 26 is older and larger but I'm glad you included it as it was at one time the gold standard of the subcompact 9mm. Even today the G26 (especially if you already own one) is an excellent choice. I've got a Glock 27 I enjoy shooting. Also have a 9mm conversion barrel which I like. I initially loved my Sig P365 but that is fading. I don't like the sites at all (I'm an I Dot or Heinie Straight guy) and for no apparent reason twice I got a dead trigger and had to rerack the slide. I don't care for the HellCat as it doesn't fit my hand well. I need to try the S&W Shield+ to see if I like it.
Thanks to you both for a good 'ole strait up comparison of those little autoloaders. I prefer y'alls style to many other's where they shoot a dozen different types of ammo and act like they're running a competition course. 🙄 As to the weapons, I too am biased. Except I have no use for any plastic guns or the 9mm. Oh, I've tried about half a dozen or more over the past few years, but they aren't for me. When I want/need an autoloader I go for one of my 1911A1 in 45 Auto. Steel and wood with a hammer you can see, and a caliber that has some authority. 😉
@@anangryranger I do catch myself carrying more and more 40 and 357 sig these days. If only they’d put out a small single stack 10mm like the shield 45 or xds platform.
I like my Shield plus despite the lack of a positive audible reset. Put a grip sleeve on it to give it some palm swell. That being said, I just got my first G26 and it shoots like a freaking dream.
Between my son and myself, we own a S and W Shield Plus, Hellcat Pro, P365 Xmacro. Love them all and they are all really close in all of the positive categories. He prefers the Shield Plus and prefer the Hellcat Pro. The reason this is weird is because we both shoot tighter groups with the Sig. The Sig haters can talk all they want but it’s a fact that they make some of the finest firearms on the planet!
Good vid. I agree that those are all good choices. I went a bit micro crazy. I have a Shield Plus 2.0 in 9, a standard Shield 2.0 in 9, a Bodyguard 2.0 in 380, a 365X and a G43. Also have a CZ P10M, a Kahr P9 Covert and a Kahr CT380. Never had a 26 but had a 27 back in the day. Previously had a Hellcat and an original 365. Love CZ but the trigger in the P10M is different than the rest of the P10 lineup and honestly... it's terrible. Fine for an actual carry gun but not really fun at the range. The Kahrs are unique. I don't really consider them as direct competitors to all the others but they are nice and slim. I probably like the G43 the least of those first five. Just not ergonomically great and and three shot bursts, I shoot it the slowest. I'd probably rank the standard Shield 2.0 in next to last. Again, I just don't shoot it quite as fast. The Bodyguard is great. It is deceptively small. If you trust a 380, it is a fantastic choice. That leaves the Shield Plus 2.0 and the 365X. For an actual carry gun that you only practice with then carry everyday, I'd give the 365X the edge but to take a gun to the range to actually enjoy, the Shield Plus 2.0 just feels slightly better ergonomically speaking. As you said, neither is a bad choice but yeah, the 365X and the Bodyguard 2.0 are my top two carry guns.
Spring summer and fall I rock the shield plus or g19…winter time I want more power so I roll with my Glock 29 10mm. Living way up north people wear a lot of clothes during these cold months.
@ she’s thick no doubt! The crazy part is that 29 is one accurate tool. I run the underwood 155 xtp or buffalo bore 180s. I can hit 50 yards all day so I’m cool with that. I did pick up some grizzly 180s but I need to try em out. It seems grizzly makes their 180grain 10mm on par with buffalo bore
Love the comparison. My large hands are only going to get two fingers regardless. The thicker body of the glock therefore make it easier to hang onto. And as the grip goes you either love it or hate it. Add the smaller handle print (I can pocket carry a g26) and the 30 or so mags I have that fit it and a good deal more .... glock 26 wins for me. 🙂
@@Tonys_House I have pretty good size hands myself, 3x work glove, have you tried the p365xl? Probably can’t pocket carry it but it feels pretty good in the hand.
May I have my hands back now? I get the exact same hot spot with the Hellcat. It's actually even worse for me with the 13 round extended mag. I like the gun though. I just don't shoot boxes of ammo through it on a given day. And Glocks shoot best in my hands. Though I don't really know why. Maybe big grip and low barrel.
I've been using an original P365 ported version since it came out. I don't have the Glock. I don't like them though I have at least a dozen and carried a Gen2 31 for 20 years. The grip angle on the Glocks hurts my wrist.
