So glad you liked. Thank you for the lovely review
I'm hearing a LOT of people talking about it! I can't wait to see what you write next 💜
I loved Linghun! It’s so thought provoking
It really was great. It cut deep
Knock Knock Open Wide sounds so good! I love that setting too. That Richard Laymon book sounds rough. 😬 Makes me want to never read his books. I loved Linghun. It was such an interesting take on grief and ghosts. I definitely felt the grief throughout that whole book. Excited to see a new Stephen Graham Jones book! His writing style is so unique. I read one of his books this month too and he has the ‘what’ at the end of sentences too and ‘yeah’. Definitely took some getting used to. It’s not a Texas thing unless it’s just a different part of Texas. Great video! 🔪
The “yeah” thing I’ve heard before, but not the what. I really loved the new book - I hope you do too!
happy you enjoyed the vessel!!
Knock knock sounds great!
I feel the same about SGJ where I enjoy his writing but by the end of the book I don't end up loving it
Ooo interesting take on Gideon, I haven't read it but that almost makes me want to read it more now lol
There are def. a lot of good ideas in Gideon...I just wish it came together for me. Interested to see what you think when you get to that one!
Knock, Knock Open Wide sounds intriguing. I loved Linghun. It is such a beautifully written haunting book. I want to read The Vessel. I really enjoyed Nevill's The Ritual and The Reddening. I'm glad you enjoyed the new SGJ book. I'm looking forward to reading it. Great video🔪
I'm excited for SGJ's new one to come out so I can hear what everyone else thinks. Is that weird?
@@Kritz_ReadsNo, not weird at all❤
I really loved Linghun! That ending was a gut punch. I loved The Vessel too-he’s an author I really enjoy. Need to read more. Ewww on that Laymon book. I salute y’all for reading these books. I can’t do it. 😆
Linghun was great! I listened to it, and wouldn't mind a reread with my eyeballs. The Laymon project has not gone the way I thought it would. 😂
🔪 i love the idea of a mid-month check in! i too struggle to remember all of my thoughts i want to get across by the end of the month.
Yes! A month of reading is way too much to remember. Sometimes I struggle with 2 weeks, especially if the book was just meh
I also DNFed Gideon the ninth, maybe around 60 pages or so, because of how it depicted bodies. Hearing you on the story it feels like I didn’t miss out.
It has some good ideas going for it…it just didn’t all come together for me. You made a good call to dnf
Awesome Mid-Month Wrap up for May. I want to read the last book, I was a teenage slasher.
Thanks Linda. That was my favorite read this month!
I’m so excited to get to Linghun at the end of the month after listening to your review!!
It is short, but impactful!
All of Richard Laymon's books are on my anti-TBR ... will be doing am anti-TBR video sometime soon-ish and he'll definitely be on it lol
I didn't think I would hate them all. The first one I read, I had enjoyed! It has def. been an interesting journey
Really cool video. I just ordered the Vessel based on your review. Well done.
I hope you love it!
I wanted to like Stephen Graham Jones as his books always sound good but I was always bored with his writing. Tried two books.
Great mid month wrap up!
I can definitely see why he doesn’t work for everyone. I’m glad he clicks with me for whatever reason.
Knock Knock Open Wide was a really interesting read and yes, hard to classify. I agree that the romance element wasn't too bad, which is high praise from me when it comes to romance 😄. I would have liked more of the creepy kids show and folklore, but It was a four star read for me as well.
Yup, still never going to pick up a Laymon book.
I Was A Teenage Slasher definitely sounds like a SGJ book 😂. I look forward to reading it. I think I've gotten pretty comfortable with his writing style and the trickiness of his dialogue. 🔪🔪
The Laymon project is def. not going super well. I didn't expect to hate them all.
I'm excited for Teenage Slasher to release so I can hear what everyone else thinks!
You're having an awesome month!!! I didn't know about that other story for Linghun 😂 I haven't read yet 😬 ahhh!! I'm so jealous you got an arc for Teenage Slasher!!! I know SGJ had to write this one first before finishing The Angel of Indian Lake 😂🔪🔪🔪
Linghun was a great pick! I wonder how they pick who gets arcs....because I could def. be better about reading the ones that I have. I also just got CJ Leede's new one
A Richard Laymon book every month, I wouldm't wish that on my worst enemy. Great review of Knock Knock Open Wide. I'm intrigued. You overestimate my emoji game, but this is my knife (it got bent when I hit a rib) _/
the laymon project is not going so well. I must have gotten lucky when I enjoyed the first one I read. (which happens to also be the first one Cliff read!) I hate when a good knife gets ruined on human insides like that!
Laymon sounds difficult to read, I just bought my first book by him and I'm scared haha. The vessel sounds like a great book! I love SGJ so I'm so excited to read I Was a Teenage Slasher ❤
Uh oh, which laymon book did you get ? I liked the first one I read, but it was downhill from there. The sgj book was a fun time !
@Kritz_Reads I got The Woods Are Dark 🤔 I'm intrigued by it but also worried to read it haha. Amazing I'm looking forward to its release!
@@InSophiesBooks thats the Laymon I'm reading in June!
🔪🔪🔪🔪 you explained gideon the 9th so much better than I could and you didnt even finish it 😂 very impressive, honestly 🙌 such a difficult book to understand. I do think you made the right decision to dnf. Haha i wish you would have dnfed come out tonight so you would have saved yourself from having to read it 😂
I was really hoping the revenge at the end of come out tonight would make it all worth it, so I kept going.
Great video! I think I might avoid Come Out Tonight, sounds awful, in fact my last two Laymon books have been a let down which is not a good sign. The Vessel sounds great. I own The Ritual which I want to read soon as I've heard great things about the author. I still need to read My Heart is a Chainsaw, although this one sounds good too. 🔪
I'm starting to think we got lucky by reading Midnight's lair first. It gave us false hope. You def. need to read my heart is a chainsaw!
Isolated farm setting is my vibe 🐓 I had similar thoughts on Knock Knock Open Wide. I really didn’t care about the girls and their artsy stuff tho, I just wanted more Etain! I definitely preferred Beware over Come Out Tonight 🫘 At least ya boi SGJ didn’t let you down! I’ll have to check that one out 🔪🩸🍴
My boi SGJ! It was so much fun! Excited to hear what you think of it. I believe it comes out in July
✨📚🖤🔪
I'm not a horror genre fan.. But that's just me lol 😆. I still love watching
thanks ok! What types of books do you like to read?
@@Kritz_Reads Mysteries mostly 😅❤. They are my favorite 😊 to read.
@@Kritz_Reads I also love reading sci Fi and sometimes fantasy 😇😈
🔪🔪🔪
Thanks for watching! 💚
Richard Laymon sounds like a author I can skip.
I 100% support this!
