I wish 12 had or 13 will stop by and check up Craig. “Hello Craig.” “I’m sorry, do I know you?” “How’s stormy?” “Stormy? Doctor?” “Hello. Surprised by the new face?” “I mean, kinda. I guess I really shouldn’t be. Oh no.” “Oh no?” “If you’re here Doctor, then that means something is trying to destroy the world, or everyone in town has been replaced, or kale isn’t actually a superfood but is an advanced alien species and now they’re out for revenge.” “Well....” “Doctor, don’t do this to me.”
Every Doctor should have at least one "earthbound" episode, where they have to act like a human. Tennant had Human Nature, Smith had The Lodger, Capaldi had The Caretaker. I'd love to see Whittaker's Doctor in a situation where she has to pretend to be a human. Perhaps she'd say something like "My name's Smith. Dr. John I mean Jane Smith."
It feels like the 11th doctor doesn't know how to be human but the 10th doctor could easily fit in because I feel that he understands humans more and wasnt as jumpy and crazy as the 11th doctor.
After his last depressing and lonely years of the tenth Doctor, it was obvious that the next Doctor decided to be less human in order that nostalgia not hurt him anymore.
Regeneration - bit of a lottery - the information from all the past Doctor's are there but its... muddled. The emotions that were tied to them have been jumbled - skills that WERE there have become confused because of a TOTALLY new anatomy. First Doctor - no grasp of humanity, old and grumpy, tone deaf, liked to smoke Second Doctor - good grasp of humanity, funny uncle, played a recorder, good dancer Third Doctor - fairly decent grasp of humanity but no people skills, liked wine, refined, dandy Fourth Doctor - insane, no grasp of humanity, barely any people skills, liked sweets And those are just the FIRST four Doctor's - when the Doctor was young. When his personality wasn't as well defined. Imagine another nine minds and memories and life times crammed in there making the lottery even MORE random every time it happens. Everything old is new - and everything new is old.
Looks like a student cooking... That's literally me when I was just too lazy to buy groceries. Take everything that might go together and throw it in a pan or pot, depending on the ingredients. Then put noodles as a side dish. Because students never run out of noodles. That's how the best recipes are created.
Craig: "Is that a reference from the Archbishop of Canterbury?" The Doctor: "I'm his special favourite...shhh" I'd hate to see what they get up to under the altar...
The implications of this scene are kinda scary. The Doctor is basically pulling a Harold Saxon, and subliminally making people like him. Of course, it's probably passive, and unlike Saxon, Craig clearly thinks he's suspicious.
The most hilarious part for me is he spoke french when he started making omelettes, but most french people would be absolutely horrified by the abomination he was stirring away at.
11th feels like an old man trapped in a young body(well he is) , but not a grumpy one like 12th, more like one who is trying to fit in, like that steve buscemi meme "HOW DO YOU DO FELLOW KIDS"
Nebitev Hudgins Yeah I felt the same way at one point. Matt was my first Doctor. I watched David afterwards, so when he left it had already been an established point. It felt inevitable, rather than a new development in the show.
Seriously Matt Smith.. what an incredible Doctor really. He got that lost-my-mind-and-im-in-absolute-pain-and-sorrow-but-trying-to-hide-it-with-fun old man guy act perfectly! a lot of people can't believe and did not want Matt Smith to be the doctor as well due to where he came from. He acted in heavy drama and loads of plays and was by far the youngest Doctor so a lot were turned off by him or at the very least skeptical. Didn't really know about a lot of this backlash but damn, he is the best portrayal of The Doctor to me (character storywise) I could say the same with Capaldi but the writing was spotty, it really only got good at the middle. I think it's due to Missy really becoming a companion. Billy Potts was kind of meh. I think her character was just shoved there just to make a political point. Focused too much on being an independent lesbian. Again, I think it was the writing since she started becoming good when Missy started playing a vital role in the story. But as far as portrayal of The Doctor, Capaldi and Matt Smith were very accurate. Tennant's Doctor and "Eccleston's" really came into full circle with The Day of the Doctor. The upside of Eccleston denying to reprise the role of the Doctor really brought it home making Eccleston's and Tennant's Doctors a continuous story rather than just a self-contained one. With The Day of the Doctor, it answered the reason why he started having a consistent younger self when regenerating (compared to the constant middle aged to older ones). Due to Moffat having a hand in writing during Tennant's Doctor, it really gave him the qualities that his Doctor isn't a standalone one which continued on to Smith's and to Capaldi's. Smith's portrayal of the Doctor was due to his last ditch effort to continue on because he can't take on the pain. Capaldi was a more broken down one, a continuation of Smith's. It was as if Smith's Doctor lived on. He was old and ancient when he regenerated and he regenerated old as well. Capaldi didn't have "new" qualities that made his Doctor an entirely new Doctor. He carried on with Smith's. He was quirky but broken. He was hiding his pain but exhausted. It's as if Smith's was the child version and Capaldi is the tired elderly version.
I like how jodies is a culmination of all the other arcs and pain every other version felt to where the doctor finally had enough and was ready to let go of all that pain and move on. Like really what Capaldi said at the end, love hard, run fast, she really took that whole thing to heart in my opinion. Jodies version has so much love and optimism and hope and joy for everything to come even all the terrible things she has seen just herself. But she is still ready to move forward. And if you see, every villain she goes against she gives them multiple chances to leave in peace. More so than any doctor prior. Less of a vengeful God like prior incarnations were, and more a hopeful loving understanding God that knows. For example Matt's doctor was always experimenting and playing with humans. Jodie gives tim shaw multiple chances to leave, she gives the white dude in Rosa multiple chances to leave, she doesn't want to kill the spiders in arachnids and tries to help them as best she can. In demons she tries so hard to reason first with the aliens till she realizes then with his brother to no avail she tries so hard it's so sad to see. In spyfall she pleads with the master and shows hurt in ways not prior especially in the end. Orphan she tries so hard to reason with the mutated humans and gets thru in a way. She is willing to give herself up to another universe to reunite a terrible father with his daughter and to save her friends. This doctor feels things in ways not prior and it shows. I love all the doctors and Matt is my doctor but Jodie is so very special in many ways.
