Okay Otaku, this is really an excellent video. The coupler information and demonstrations are great, and yet those are bested by your creativity and humor. I can’t remember the last time I saw a screaming parakeet running from an explosion. ありがとうございました!
Great video bro! Loving the new special effects added in to spice up the video! Point to note, Do ensure the glue is dried up perfectly before keeping the trains... the last thing you want is glue evaporated on the train glass, which was what happened to me... By far the best is the kato gangway couplered with Kato close couplers, an easy swap and looks perfect! I always use this formula to calculate the number of TN couplers i need, basically (2 x no. of cars) - 2 point to note, Tomix is great when coming to connecting cab cars is that they included the lights on both end of the cab cars, and the TN coupler.... GM on the other hand, well... Great video! Kudos!
Thanks for this video. I have wondered about various conversions for both MicroAce and GreenMax. Do you plan on (I hope) also doing the conversion on Kato freight cars - from the rapido couplers, to the Kato knuckle couplers (Kato 11-703)? I have ALWAYS botched them up.☹️
I’ve just had a look. The kato freight car bogie is similar in design to the greenmax bogie, albeit marginally smaller. Hence i believe i can swap out the couplers in the same manner. But as always, be firm yet gentle and never resort to brute force tactics. :)
For some reason my comments get deleted! If this one gets through, please let me know if you are on a forum, I will get on there. In the meantime, both the sites you mentioned do not have the coupler. I don't run prototypical, so I was wondering if 800002 might do the job. Thank you!
@@shaileshkhandelwal448 Looks like it would fit but with precision parts, looks can be very deceiving. Well, if the price is still $1.5 and you are not making any permanent changes to your train set, might be fine to take a leap of faith.
@@shaileshkhandelwal448 I’m not sure and I can’t make the call on that. But if the parts are cheap and the change is not permanent, you could give it a shot.
Hi! By mistake I bought Kato 10-819 Noto 489 series add-on cars, not knowing that it has Kato 11-731 tight lock type couplers. I have no locomotive with that type of coupler. Is there a way I can replace one of these tight couplers on a car with an ordinary type Kato coupler? Thanks
Wow. this isnt going to be a simple replacement. First, I'm working on the assumption that your locomotive is equipped with a kato 'knuckle' coupler (if not you have to swap it out to one- part no: Z01-0224). Then you have to replace the snow plow assembly on the front car to 4697-2c3 to replace the dummy coupler. But this means you will have to lose the front skirt unless you want to do some permanent surgery.
Hi Otaku! Thank you so much for the help. I have tried to write twice that 4697-2c3 in not available in the US, in response to what you have written but both my messages have disappeared. I don't know if you can see them or not.. :( So trying this third message, not in response to your earlier message but as a fresh post. Hope this one reaches you!

Thanks very much! Though much as i like to claim credit for the scene starring my feathered friends, it didn’t originate from me =p
Nice work my friend.
Thanks for the compliment! Appreciate it!
In`s very usefull video! Thanks!
Thanks for your compliments!

Thanks for your support and thanks for the reminder!!
great video! we are lucky in that most model trains in europe have nem coupling sockets to allow you to swap coupling types.
Thanks! glad you liked it!

Is the part number you mentioned kato or tomix?

Can I also just click the tn coupler into the body of my Tomix train without removing the body of my train? ( my train is the e231 )
You can. But you still have the amputate the existing coupler from the bogie.

Ok this one came through. If you don’t mind the shipping, have you checked out hobbysearch, or amiami? They ship internationally
