- Mets manager Carlos Mendoza felt starter Tylor Megill battled through five-plus innings and gave the team a chance. His costliest mistake was surrendering a two-run double to Jeremy Pena in the fourth inning that allowed the Astros to get back in the game. Reed Garrett was called upon to protect a 6-4 lead but "had a hard time putting guys away", especially Alex Bregman who delivered the go-ahead RBI for Houston. With a short-handed bullpen, Mendoza admitted it's been a challenge to find the right mix.

A spot just opened up in the bullpen and Megill would fit right in.
This loss is on the pitching. The offense put up 6 runs. You cant expect the bats to keep bailing you out.
Exactly. Especially in May. Mets leading by 5 to 10 runs and relievers losing the lead. I feel bad for our batters when they do their jobs and the pitchers fall apart. I don't know when this 100 pitch limit started, but I remember when starters would go into at least the 7th and 8th innings, or even complete a game, especially if they are doing well, and you wouldn't see a reliever until the 8th or 9th, or if the starter is actually falling apart and loosing multiple runs. Hoping last night was just a fluke.
I NEVER want to see Tylor McGill get another start for us again. This guy is not a starter. He does not have it in him. He is not a starter. He is not a starter. He is not a starter!!!!!
Bring up some guys that the league hasn't seen yet. As long as they can throw strikes, they'll probably be fine. Other teams do that to us, and we can't hit a lick.
The last time the Mets won a world series my great-great-grandfather was seven and a half years old

Mendoza threw away that victory when he brought in DIECK-HEAD. He should have left that pitcher that was brought from the minors for one more inning. As for MEGUILL,send him either to the bullpen, the minors or trade him.

WHY DIDN'T YOU ADD AN ARM FOR DIAZ? YOU COULD HAVE OPTIONED MEGILL OR STEWART AND BROUGHT UP ANOTHER ARM. THIS LOSS IS ON YOU!!!!!!
