- Hilla Lilla ist ein schwedisches Volkslied, das von Garmarna neu interpretiert wurde. Hier mit deutschem Untertitel; so nah am Original wie möglich - etymologisch und sinngemäß, auch wenn es dadurch komplizierter klingt.

It's astonishing to see how close German and Swedish still are. If you listen to Swedish as a speaker of German, you don't understand anything of course, because they are distinct languages, but if you read the lyrics and the translation simultaneously, you can see how close they still are. S
Its oddly close to English as well. Learning Swedish from English is a lot easier than learning Spanish from English, which I find really cool :)
They are literally both Germanic languages, no surprises
+Irene L. - it's harder to tell since German descends from Western dialect and the Nordic languages descended from the Northern dialects. that's why they have their own distinct sounds.

Interesting song. It speaks of local power, how a duke abused his power with a local woman and how her clan had enough power and self confidence to punish him. It also speaks through a woman and her tragic destiny. I understand why Garmarna choose to blow life into this particular old text. My admiration.
I would mildly disagree with you. The story is sad, indeed. But Garmarna crossed out some details from the original story.
All interactions between Little Hilla and Hildebrand were consensual. They decieded to flee together (the reason unknown, but, probably, her father would never agree to this marriage). The most fascinating part (it missed in Garmarna lyrics) is so-called "dead naming". Hildebrand asked Hilla Lilla not to speak his name, even he will fall bleeding. She broke this rule, what entailed Hildebrand death. I have some curious theories about this moment, but it's too long for a single youtube comment.

Zwar ist es etwas ungenau, aber skandinavische Stämme sind ebenfalls Germanen im universalen Sinn. Die Germanen des Gebiets Magna Germania wie es die Römer nannten sind Südgermanen, die Nordgermanen lebten In Norddeutschland aufwärts. Im Zuge der ersten Wanderung der Germanen vertrieben sie die kelten aus Süddeutschland. Während der Völkerwanderung sind dann ebenfalls nordgermanische Stämme nach Süden gezogen. Goten und Langobarden zum Beispiel
Faszinierend dieses a mit dem Kreis obendrüber Mischung aus a und o ist schätz ich mal tatsächlich ein weiterer Selbstlaut. Auch hier wird Dialekt of so gesprochen. "Ich hob" z.b. ist ja eigendlich ein a wird aber als o/a ausgesprochen, hommer ma werrer en neue selbstlaut gellernt ^^.
Das schwedische å wird wie das deutsche o ausgesprochen. „sån“ (umgangssprachlich für sådan = solch/-e/-er) klingt also wie „Sohn“ im Deutschen, und „gång“ (= Gang, Mal) wie „Gong“ im Deutschen.
Dafür kann das schwedische o (je nach Wort) auch ähnlich wie das deutsche u ausgesprochen werden, und das schwedische u wiederum liegt zwischen dem deutschen u und ü. Am Anfang ziemlich verwirrend, aber man gewöhnt sich daran. ;)
Ja ich merk ja den Unterschied, wird ja hier zu Lande auch im Dialekt gesprochen und die Laute sind nicht genau die gleichen. Das heisst es sind tatsächlich eigene Selbstlaute halt irgendwie Zwischenstufen wie es auch im Dialekt ausgesprochen wird dieses a° wird nämlich eben nicht genau wie ein o ausgesprochen eher viel höher und man macht dabei auch die Lippen nicht so weit zusammen. Ich finds auf jeden Fall faszinierend und mich hats schon immer gewundert das wir nur so wenige Selbstlaute bei sovielen Umlauten.. Da hat man echt gleich Lust schwedisch zu lernen, ein klein wenig versteht man ja sogar nur mit Deutschkenntnissen ;).
tscomf Ich hab da ja eh so meine Eigene Theorie zu Schrift und deren Zusammenhänge auch vom Aussehn und Klang, so sehen die Buchstaben auch ähnlich aus wie man sie ausspricht z und s Schlange tss laut, o rund wie der Mund ebenfalls der Ton sehr rund. A hoch wie eine Pyramide, i Klang wie ein Strich sehr gradlinig und hoch usw. kann man fast auf jeden Buchstaben übertragen. Das mit den weiteren Selbstlauten ist gerade neues Land und passt irgendwie auch Zusammen hab wie gesagt schon immer gedacht das irgendwas in unserer Sprache fehlt oder wahrscheinlich beschnitten wurde.

Hallöchen, das sind germanische Buchstaben - Runen - genannt. Dort steht "Garmarna".

However, regardless, the German seems wrong.: "brauchen" means "needs", doesn't it?. Wäre das nicht besser: "Die Königin zog ihre blaue Jacke an" oder "Die Königin trug ihre blaue Jacke" ?

No Stolt is like her father. I mean it´s like his last name, and I know Hilla is a name :P It would be weird being calld proud as you´re first name... And othervise it dosnt really fit in...

@@axisboss1654 What I meant was, if her father had been in the army (an knight or something). He could have gotten the name Stolt (Proud) because he was a proud(Stolt) knight.
