- My latest FB Live video discussing the pre-op Optifast phase that you'll need to do before your sleeve gastrectomy. In this video I talk about:
What Optifast is
Why you need to do it
What you can and can't eat
What a typical day looks like while you're on the Optifast
Please comment below if you have questions/comments or things you’d like me to talk about next time! I’ll be on FB Live each Wednesday - like my page for updates or visit www.livingwithasleeve.com for more.
Shirataki noodles or miracle noodles or konjac noodles ?
Omg I am 4 days out from having my gastric bypass and i today have been on the toilet with diarheah from optifast ALL DAY... don’t know why, mabe it’s my body getting rid of everything so it’s working properly I hope.
I am not having any surgery, I’m on the optifast diet for 16 weeks. I just want to know how do you reintroduce food back into your life. I was so glad to know that the intent was to shrink your liver😧I had no idea! I’m looking for balance food diets with the right nutrition and portions.
Hi Deborah, great question! I would do this with the help of a great dietitian as it can be a little tricky to explain over text and is best to have a good support person throughout the process. Zoe
Thank you so much for uploading this vedio. I'm due for my sleeve early October and this has been really informative and helpful. 🖒
Great! I'm glad I could help Sara. Best of luck with it!
Very informative and helpful! Thank you, Zoe
Preop but not on optifast yet.
Is Optifast hypo-osmotic? I have a high output ileostomy and will speak to the nurse and dietician next month about the surgery?
There appears to be a lot of sugar in optifast . Is that correct ? If yes how does this affect a diabetic
Trish Excelles there is some because you need 50g carbohydrate a day for your brain to work. How this will impact your diabetes depends on your control, if you’re on meds etc. usually you’ll go lower because you’re not eating any other carbohydrate but just monitor and speak with your dietitian about what to do if your sugars get out of range.
