So you can only make 3 customer service mistakes total at Applebees? That's wild. Reason 1 wasn't fair, reason 2... eh that one was questionable lol. But getting fired for forgetting to ring in a dessert while you have 30 + people to take care of is insane.
Ive worked in kitchens/restaurants all my life. From what I have come across, chain restaurants like applebees, outback, bdubs.. you name it; consist of some of the strictest protocols required upon their servers. Some locations differ, but a lot have a very strict testing and training phase before even being able to solo serve a single table. Which is a good thing to an extent.
Yes that's great, but the customer has to be held accountable too. Don't be rude.and the kids mom isn't justified in asking for a bunch of free gift cards when the kid was corrected.

back in 2005, my ex and i were going cross country in our Toyota Dolphin, and stayed a few days at a truck stop outside of St. Cloud (i thought it was a TA, but maps isn't show a TA). ended up meeting this old guy Sprocket, who did 4 tours of Vietnam (he wanted to go back for a 5th, but they wouldn't let him). he lived in his minivan with his cat, and made money by illegally souping up CB radios for truckers. we also met this wonderful woman driving for Purdue or Tyson, one of the big poultry companies. well, she had a two day break or so, and Sprocket lived there, and given it was Thanksgiving time we decided to have them over for Thanksgiving. i don't even remember what we cooked anymore, but it was awesome. that's what i think of when i think of St. Cloud, really good memories. oh, and the lady truck driver gave us one of her showers (unless you're a trucker they usually won't sell you one) so me and my ex totally boned in there. 12 stars.

I got fired from crapplebees also. They had kiosks at the table with touchscreens to leave ratings and i had 2crackhead dine and dash and a chrapskate who wanted a free appetizer at this point. The last straw was the gm drunkenly calling me at 10 pm to say I offended the cook. The cook was mad because I did side work on a slow day for the other cook in exchange for extra food. The reason she gave management was that I said something inappropriate when I mispronounced fajita wraps like Peter did in an episode of family guy, insisting that I asked her where the vagina wraps were. (Note this joke was made 3 weeks before her "complaint") She was 57 and covered in skin tags btw. I was so pssed i made sure to spread the wird around town that theynwere unsanitary. Since then the location has closed and the gm fired. Dont treat hardworking tipped employees like scum.

Funny enough, we ate in that very same Applebees back in 2003. We were moving our family from Washington State to Ontario, Canada, and made a stop for the night in St. Cloud. It was the first time we’d ever eaten in an Applebees. With our three kids, we wanted someplace family friendly close to the hotel. The service was good, food fine, and prices about what was expected for a sit down chain. No complaints and we definitely tipped! 😁
actually, their steaks are precooked. 90% of their food is just reheated, known several people that worked at several different applebee's. @@ercedwrds
This is absolutely amazing, What a great angle, stories, and food review so brilliantly layered. And a wonderful ending about being fired, and in every anecdote I probably would have done something similar to get my three strikes. This deserves an award!
sometimes i want everyone to work a year or two in food service/ retail so they don't become Karen, but sometimes i'm not sure anyone deserves to go through that.
I feel both side. I always polite to everyone. I am an Asian. But I don’t have a good English and I look dumb. When I was student, I always go to a Korean restaurant. I was buying their food for 2 years couple time per week. Do you know how they treat me? I saw they put the leftover soup from a customer into a container and filled up some water and added little more food and gave me. Some customers are bad, but some servers are bad too.
I used to like Applebees for their riblets. One day I walked in and ordered the same. The riblets instead of being BBQ'ed were just simply boiled??? Soggy, wet, and disgusting. I asked the waiter why they are so different and he was not so sure. I could not swallow them and it was just terrible. I asked for a refund or if I can order something else instead. A manager came over and helped me understand that the way they made the riblets had changed for efficiency. They are no longer BBQ'ed but boiled instead. I asked the manager if I can just order something else instead or get a refund because I just cannot eat them and they tasted terrible. He said NO....... I never set foot in an Applebees for 15 years now.
The weirdest thing to me about these strike systems or similar is that it punishes those who work the most. If you're the best server and get more shifts than everyone else then you are also taking on dramatically more risk, risk of being striked. So the entire system is designed in such a way that it forces out anyone who works the most and those who do the least work have the least chance of getting a strike since they don't do as much that has a potential for getting them striked. Similar to Uber eats rating system where if you get enough customer dislikes in a time period you can be fired which makes it so the people who deliver the most are the ones most likely to get customer dislikes and be fired. Why do these places make systems that punish the people who work the most, I will never know
Getting fired was the best thing that's ever happened to you because it brought you to doing this channel and your awesome man, your funny and cool, keep it up man🤙

Applebee's is just another chain fried food restaurant, yes the have some grilled dishes but mainly deep fried dishes. The food is appealing to the eye, but I don't eat there. Now from time to time if they have a good line cook, you can get a decent sirloin with a simple baked potatoes and veggies. Yo! Rambo, it was a blessing that you got fired from that place, my sons worked for them for. while, hence just a job to get through school or a second job to help pay the bills. I love your show. I live in the Philippines for the most part, I do come back to the states for a month of two each year.I truly appreciate your shard "kaina" (Tagalog for "Lets Eat") experiences of food from Asia, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Peace to you and your crew, and cool running's in your travels around the world.
OMG! 😂 this is the funniest video I’ve ever seen. And I’ve watched a ton of your videos. And I’m not just talking about your videos. Like really, thesaurus style, every best video ever. 😁 I loved the way you mixed in a classic best ever food review of a mediocre place with the story of how you got fired from a modern American bullshit corporation. 😁 Been there. Done that. 😁 Seemed like a bad thing at the time. Turns out it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Couple of tough years. Got Divorced (thank god), lived in an old trailer at a state park for a couple of years, had some adventures. Felt freedom. Now self employed (living by my wits), in a beautiful log cabin in the mountains, with a great woman and four (?!) awesome dogs. WTF?! Life is good. Now I’ve gotta go make some more money to make next month’s mortgage payment. No regrets. 👍
Whoever edited this video did a wonderful job. The add-ins, especially the "Ewwww" one sent me over the top. The howl of laughter that left my body is going to have police called on me for disturbing the peace.

I worked as a server and I've definitely fucked up way more than you did in a shorter timespan. It was a pretty common thing to fuck up and miss inputting an order when there were too many guests. The good thing is that we always tried to budget extra time, since both servers and the kitchen would miss orders, so guests often arrived early and if we missed their order we could fit it in immediately. Stir fry dishes are really good for very fast cooking. As a mom and pop casual dining place it was run way less efficiently than Applebee's which definitely had some degree of corporate refinement. I've also argued with guests multiple times and the owner had our backs. There was a DoorDash driver who came in very early and got angry that the food wasn't ready yet and I reamed him out. Another problem was a crazy lady who lived just up the street from us who ordered takeout and always claimed we fucked up her order. It happens somewhat often but certainly not that often. She did it constantly and wanted compensation and for the server to be fired. She would talk about how she had done every job in a restaurant and was almost the owner of one but decided not to and that's why she knew it was unacceptable for there to be any errors. She also made a number of claims including that she was a professor at the local prestigious university which she was not, so I think she was a habitual liar. The few times I took her order I always gave a fake name since she was annoying, and I started taking pictures of her order and the dishes we prepared. She had known previous servers and by making taking orders a nightmare by complaining and boasting for 20 minutes she also finagled the owner's phone number out of someone so she could bug the owner personally.
When I was 19, I worked as a server in a family owned mountain lodge where I had to share a room with the cook. This cook absolutely had one of the biggest egos I've ever seen, extremely rude and had no manners. Now there wasn't any dress code other than "be presentable" since it's a chill lodge where people come to get away from the world, wasn't too fancy but definitely not cheap. Anyways, dinner service is about to start, I had 2 hour break before every dinner time so I got prepped, showered put on a nice shirt and pants along with quality perfume ready to get shit done. I walk to kitchen when there wasn't anyone there but the cook and this guy suddenly tells me "go change, wear a white shirt". I'm thinking " I wasn't wearing white shirt since the 2 days I've been here, why is he telling me this now?" I asked him "why?" He said exactly this; "you look like you own the place, go wear a white shirt". I told him the boss didn't told me to wear anything specific, he then tells me "you will do everything I tell you to!". I told the cook only the boss can do that and then boss man and his wife comes in at that exact moment. They immediately understood something was wrong, maybe they even listened in from other side of the open back door. I quickly explained what happened and the way the cook spoke to me, the boss couple diffused the situation because dinner service was about to start but it all went downhill from there. Oh did I tell you I couldn't sleep right because this paranoid fuck thinks there are rats coming out at night so he leaves a bright af light on and wouldn't let me turn it off? Yeah, he also leaves the room and comes back, multiple times while I'm trying to sleep and slams the door *every time*. After that argument, this guy started to slam the drawers I was standing next to, into my legs and petty shit like that, which I also reported to the boss. On the third day they separated the rooms we slept, they had the cook sleep in one of the guest rooms and I slept in the same room because tensions were getting high and we could've got into a fight any moment. On my 4th day I was on a flight back home. This was about 4-5 years ago, few weeks ago I checked the instagram account of the place and that cook has been replaced by another guy who seems to be working there for the last 4~ years. It's been a bumpy ride since then but now I'm teaching myself to code to become a full-stack web developer, haven't worked in the service industry since then. All of this happened in Turkey which I'm planning to leave and never look back once I learn web development.
Thank you I was fired from a job I worked 5 years at .. my first child is 4.. I did what I had to do to support her and my family .. I worked at Firestone working 12 hour shifts , just hated my life for so long because of my job but now I’m working day shift making less and I’m so much more happier, don’t get mistreated at a job because you think you can’t find something because YOU CAN, and you will be happier

Say what you want about Applebees, but whoever made that mexican burger thing nailed medium rare. That looked really good.
all of their food is precooked
@@mrrooster4876 they don’t precook the steaks or burgers. They have flattops for that.
actually, their steaks are precooked. 90% of their food is just reheated, known several people that worked at several different applebee's. @@ercedwrds
CLEARLY AN APPLEBEES EMPLOYTEE DEFENDING THE SHAME
@centimeter2777 clearly someone whose caplocks is all sticky cause why you yelling?
How are you even supposed to work there long term with a 3 strikes rule? All servers get complaints eventually.
That's what i thought too. People make mistakes and if the strikes never get removed, you'll eventually get fired no matter what.
Interesting that Sonny's old co-worker is still employed there. She must be a saint.
not to mention its a low entry job and they treat it like the end of the world on 3 strike what the hell.
Maybe it's some kind of rigged system put in place by the corpo 🤔
Thank you for being so open and being inspiring to someone who may need it. The quesadilla burger has always been my favorite as well
This is absolutely amazing, What a great angle, stories, and food review so brilliantly layered. And a wonderful ending about being fired, and in every anecdote I probably would have done something similar to get my three strikes. This deserves an award!
So glad you went the route you went Sonny!!!!!!!!!!!!
sometimes i want everyone to work a year or two in food service/ retail so they don't become Karen, but sometimes i'm not sure anyone deserves to go through that.
Some customers are bad, but some servers are bad too.
lol Sonny was very funny in this video. i like the loose relaxed vibe
No don't fire Sonny. He's very talented, and wow he can adapt. I love your best ever food review show! I really liked this video. Great story man.
Well if he did'nt got fired, he probably wouldn't have this wonderful UA-cam channel. So it's like a blessing in disguised.
I used to love Applebees a few decades ago. Can’t stand the trash food anymore. I go twice a year for cheap booze.
Applebees is like taking all the frozen food in the back of your freezer and turning that into a restaurant.
The fact that we get free food & travel videos on UA-cam by Sonny Side is truly a gift. 👍👍👍
A gift.
Sonny #1.
Honourable mention for Cody and Noel and the Camu powder 😂
strike system is such an awful way to run a business, glad everything turned out for the best :)
Why do these places make systems that punish the people who work the most, I will never know
Getting fired was the best thing that's ever happened to you because it brought you to doing this channel and your awesome man, your funny and cool, keep it up man🤙
Love how you censored your name. We all know what it is Sonny lol 😂
Will Sonbuchner
You think he uses his real name for his channel? Lol
@@stevenmooney1018 never said that
@@stevenmooney1018 well since more than 95 percent of UA-camrs use their real name is it unreasonable to expect his UA-cam name to be his real name?
Maybe he censored the nickname he had at the job, like “Sunny Buns” or “Big Willy” lol
LMAO I love Sonny and his editors... 2:45-2:54 got me 💀
That salad dressing/'teenager' joke got me, not going to lie; I was thinking the same thing, lol. Thank you, Sonny, for always keeping your childish sense of humor. 😆
That was gross but funny. But now I want to know what video those guys were really reacting too.😂
I got fired from my factory job last year. I was devastated at the time, but I looked for other opportunities and 1 year later, im working at an even more low end factory job and barely making it by 😂 never give up!
The Two Girls One Cup reaction video at 2:50 killed me.
Thanks Sonny, I realize why I am fat now that I eat out at these places. These are all extremely tasty but extremely heart stopping. I always enjoy your American food Videos.
Hahhaha, "Today I am going to the restaurant I was fired 15 years ago" that part killed me 😂😅
Hey Sonny, as a Korean-American, I really like your character and how you get Korean stuffs right, time to time, from your experiences back in the day. And, I think you didn't really deserve the fire, but , agreed, that was probably the good thing that happened to you. A-peace!
Dude I love your channel you're funny as hell and give great descriptions of what you're eating while telling a great story lol
you rock dude. I love your tongue and cheek humor. I'm 59 so you are never to old to find joy in humor or food I will never eat.
Thanks so much for making this video Sonny. I've been kinda bummed since getting laid off last summer. I've been applying but no offers yet.
It’s okay bro. You’ll get it one day. I believe in you
Sonny. Dead set mate, youre a legend. I never knew how people loved celebrities or cried when they died...
But dude i love you, your personality, your humour your witty sarcasm.
Ive watched your vids for years now and i share your content wherever i can.
Proper fan youve got here . Keep up the fantastic work. You have no idea how happy you make millions of people.
Much respect for working hard and succeeding ❤
I promise to never eat at applebees ever again for the unreasonable way they treat their employees.
I'm not going to eat there because of the food 😂
@@AncientMysteriesAndInnovations , yeah fr, food is low quality frozen shit. only alcoholics and hillbillys eat there i think
@@clixyxd7426 Basketball-Americans LOVE the place and they don't tip either.

2:45 OMG.. made my day.. LMFAO
1:22 Looks like he says Michael, but online it says his name is William Sonbuchner. 1:22 Weird. Why give a fake name, why mute the fake name ? Pretty sure he says, “Michael”. Although there was a splice right after he said Michael. Should NOT have been fired for forgetting 1 dessert out of 30 people / tables.
Thanks for sharing your life story. Maybe next time you can share your story on how you meet your wife?
Ah, the USA where not paying your full bill means you are entitled to complain.
It's a good thing that they fired him so that he could eventually end up making probably
more money than their yearly salaries combined. Let the stupid be stupid.
I been watching your over seas vids and never knew you was from Minnesota I just found my favorite food channel
If you meant that you didn’t know what a thesaurus is, then said you didn’t know another word for a jerk is.. that is very clever hats off sonny
I'm celebrating a $30k stock portfolio today, started this journey with 6k. I have invested on time and also with the right terms now I have time for my family and the life ahead of me

you can tell sonny is more relaxed making this review and reminiscing this place
Cool story & exposure based on your Truth ❤
Then to put them on blast & to SHOW your glow up... PRICELESS!
The only thing, I got to say, you're so brave and HUMBLE!!! ❤❤❤
2:46 AYOOO HAHAHAHAHA
Love the editing.
This video should have been: Oh no, the food was so bad, I got sick and now I am anorexic. 😂
OMG! 😂 this is the funniest video I’ve ever seen. And I’ve watched a ton of your videos. And I’m not just talking about your videos.
Like really, thesaurus style, every best video ever. 😁
I loved the way you mixed in a classic best ever food review of a mediocre place with the story of how you got fired from a modern American bullshit corporation. 😁
Been there. Done that. 😁
Seemed like a bad thing at the time.
No regrets. 👍
loved the pep talk at the end
Those last few lines hit me hard.. I'm having hard time at work. This motivated me a bit
Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me. Mistakes are part of life as long as you learn from them it’s ALWAYS a good thing.
Whoever edited this video did a wonderful job. The add-ins, especially the "Ewwww" one sent me over the top. The howl of laughter that left my body is going to have police called on me for disturbing the peace.
Sunny was on a mission, looool glad you did this tho, shows people that sometimes right after your worst experiences there is greatness on the other side, just have to push through and find a way, continue being a better version of yourself, thanks Sunny much love from JA bless!
I’m sorry but that second reason is just hilarious..
So unfair to be fired! Great video! You have a great sense of humor!
"I'm doing okay now" YOU'RE A MULTI MILLIONAIRE! 🤣🤣🤣
Being fired was your blessing. You have traveled the world while some have remained in 1 place for over a decade
