Unrestored. We do not believe tank is original paint. No broken fins, seat is perfect. NOS left side cover, complete with badge and knob. New battery, cleaned carbs, fresh oil and filter change. There is rust on bolts, exhaust, brake pedal, etc. as shown. We would suggest new tires. Everything works, except neutral light.. Crank shaft is good, motor is good. This would be the start of a nice restoration, or would make a great everyday rider. Sold as-is.
Possible low-cost shipping available upon request. Selling on Ebay Auction with opening bid of $1000, no reserve. Place your bid here: www.ebay.com/itm/166252389729

Those Suzuki fuel taps with 'prime' are an over complicated source of trouble. If the crank seals havent dried out it through lack of use, motor should be good.

Crank seals will be as hard as hockey pucks.

John, I respect you as one of the premier builders of these vintage Japanese motorcycles. The motorcycle community would be at a standstill if you got injured by not wearing a helmet during those test rides. Although safety is subjective, the loss of a patriarch of vintage motorcycle builders like yourself would be devastating to our community. Please consider wearing a helmet even for those short test rides. (I could easily see a truck or car backing out of the shop as you whiz back on the driveway and, well you know the rest.

Engine seems uncannily smooth for these bikes - the GT500 I rode would vibrate my feet off the pegs above 5000 rpm, and the mirrors only showed useful images when the engine was shut off.

Circa 1975,my mates T500 with a chrome tank?!!!. I rode it a few times, and that is exactly my lasting impression, my feet vibrating off the pegs haha.. Oh and deep induction roar. Loved it though.
