    How to fit e-bike into any car?
    Just disassemble the entire thing! Perfect!

  • @Cochi288
    @Cochi288 2 роки тому +14

    The first tip would be to buy a station wagon ;)
    However, I would recommend everyone to buy a trailer coupling with a bike rack.
    Then you don't have the dirty bike in the car and mess everything up. And you don't always have to take everything apart.

      Well, another idea is to take a portable pressure-wash and hose your bike down after trail.

    Wouldn't dream of transporting mine any other way in the winter!
    Quite happy to take wheel off and chuck a tarp down rather than getting the bike covered in salt once the gritters are out!

    Also got a Fiesta. Moving the front seat forward is giving me enough room to put the bike in by only removing the front wheel. In and out of the car within 2 minutes. Once had someone came up to me asking how the F I got that massive ebike out of my Fiesta.

    Only been an ebike owner for 2 weeks and I've just ordered a detachable towbar and bike carrier.
    Taking off the wheel and trying to get it in on my own has been a challenge to say the least

    • @Simon-fr4ts
      @Simon-fr4ts 9 місяців тому

      Taking off the wheels is easy if you flip the bike over like in this video. I would love a towbar kit, but they are silly money. I only need to transport my bike occasionally, so this costs nothing. I haven't tried it yet on my eMTB, but I have the exact same car as his, so should be good to go!

    Check with your insurance company if your e bike is covered if you use a rear mounted bike rack or tow bar mounted rack, this may be treated as a modification if you require electrics for additional lights or vehicle plates. it will be an expensive day if you are rear-ended in a car accident and wipe out your bike. Some insurance will only cover the content inside of a vehicle in a theft as well.

  • @lexington476
    @lexington476 2 роки тому +6

    I think doing this whole disassembly several time would motivate most people to get a bike rack. There's nothing easier than taking your bike putting on the rack and hopping in the car. Trailer hitch racks are really nice and convenient.

    • @embn
      @embn  2 роки тому +4

      Yea, if you travel with bikes a lot it's worth it getting a good bike rack! Some people will always prefer to keep the bike inside the car, for security reasons etc...

      Using bike racks means people can see that you have an ebike, and that you're gonna be out of the house too....also you can't really go in a shop or something if you are on your own.

    Battery angle grinder, cut the bike up into no more than 200mm long pieces , place all bits into a bin bag, bobs your uncle. And you only have to do it once as the bike will now fit in any car including smart cars, bubble cars, caterham 7's etc.

    I put a large piece of cardboard from a box on the floor with the seats down. Then I put a towel over the entrance to the trunk. Then I place part of the bike on the cardboard and slide it forward until it is in the car. Easier than lifting and dragging it! I just pop off the front wheel and put it in. still takes some strength to lift it though!

      It would. I don’t own my car because lack of space and the city regulations so I’m using mostly car sharing and if you don’t wanna carry a bike rack until your sharing car this would be a good option

    buy a 2005 yaris verso. costs less than your e bike and you'll fit the bike fully assembled in the back. OR with only removing front wheel you'd get 4 bikes in the back. Thats my tip for uk. I'd never have the hassle of stripping a bike as much as this video just to put it in a car!, that's how much i strip a bike to put in on a plane! But really a bike rack would be the way to go if you did have a fiesta or something too small to fit the bike in and good locks. For north america get a north short rack on your tow hitch. Shame uk cars don't come with received hitches instead of tow balls.

  • @techtoth1
    @techtoth1 2 роки тому +1

    Get yourselves a rear rack. I put one on my tiny Ford Ka mk1, and it works perfectly. I just have to unmount the wheels, and tie up a few straps. You don't want to be stripping down your bike when you are totally exhausted, wet, muddy, and sweaty.

    • @darthkek1953
      @darthkek1953 2 роки тому

      If you have to do two wheels, sure. If all you have to do is remove the front wheel...

    • @techtoth1
      @techtoth1 2 роки тому +1

      @@darthkek1953 Absolutely; for just one wheel it's not worth it. But the rack is something to consider if you have back problems, too. Much more forgiving on your back lifting up a bike vertically, rather than having to push/pull it in trunk.

    I used to travel a couple of hours every weekend to go riding with my bike in the back of a hatchback. Then one weekend I visited my parents, no bike. Through no fault of my own I was rear-ended on the M54 and the car destroyed. If my bike was in the car like that I’ve have been dead (bike would have been pushed through my seat). Do yourself a favour and buy a bike rack. Also saves getting car dirty
