When I rewatch GoT, I refuse to watch Season 8. Even though Seasons 6-7 did have some problems scattered here and there, there were still plenty of epic moments in those two seasons.
This was awesome! Characters I cared about died. Even Ghost died! That’s GoT writing. The fight with the white walkers and the night king was an actual war. Cersei and Jamie’s baby going with Tyrion was really interesting. Even small details made this exciting. I would have liked to watch this ending.
Almost anything would have been better than how they actually finished up the show. Totally kilt my willingness to follow tv shows outright. I ain't doin' it again. If I think a show looks good, I'll go back & watch it once the entire thing is completed. The days of me following any series are long over. Thanks, Dan & Dave...for your incompetence. ...and thank you Disney for NOT paying these morons.
They should cancel season 8 from the Canon and make 2 more season in an good animated Style to give this series the well deserved ending , not a rushed one
This version falls apart as soon as the Night King isn’t killed at Winterfell. For the Night King and his army to go all the way to Kings Landing means everyone north of Kings Landing is dead which accounts for about 95% of Westeros. All those dead would become part of the Night King’s army that would be unstoppable and would eventually kill the remaining 5% of Westeros. It would take the most extreme plot armor and ex deus machina for anyone to kill the Night King and win the war with this version. There are some good parts like Cersei giving birth to an imp but she would not apologize to Tyrion for all the things she said and did to him, that’s completely out of character for her. Jon killing Dani is exactly what I expected and is exactly what happened the last time. Gives homage to “it’s happened before and it’ll happen again” theme that’s in the books; it’s also the first line in the 1953 Disney movie “Peter Pan,” mentioned quite frequently in Battlestar Galactica reboot, and very similar to Ecclesiastes 1;9 Good News Translation “What has happened before will happen again, What has been done before will be done again. There is nothing new in the whole world.” George Martin has already said his version will be very different from the TV show which I suspect will satisfy the masses… if he ever finishes the last two books before he dies.
This sounds like it was written by George himself. Mr. Martin, if this is what you came up with, please please please please please write it. It is fantastic and I can’t wait to read it!
Personally, I would have found a fitting end for game of thrones that the white walkers win. I know it’s a really sad ending, but I think it fits with the message behind the show.
Can I say that I missed these and if you have any more of them or even if you have adjusted some that you’ve previously shared with us please feel free to put it out there because I find this so much more entertaining than the actual finish it’s not funny😂🤷🏾♀️❤️
I was unsure if I wanted to watch this just because bringing up game of thrones season 8 is such a sore point for me personally as a huge fan. But I love your channel and your content and I think you really have solid grounded ideas and if d&d would have just tapped you maybe we would just be a different world lol
I’ve always thought that if the 3 Eyed Raven had just mentioned that the Weirwood Tree the Night King was created upon is very familiar to Bran. The one in Winterfell. He also explains to Bran that he’s searched for this power as killing the holder of the 3 eyed Raven ability would give him the ability to touch and thus destroy the Weirwood tree. Thus in the end breaking his weakness to Dragonglass. It’s basically his way of breaking his curse. Having that bit of conversation way before the final season would have helped explain so much of the later seasons.
I did like this as a "plan" or a "Direction" except for the killing of Ghost (Killing the dog has never been a good thing) but as you say it's really vague and once the dialog starts being added it most likely won't "Fit the Plan" anymore. Letting the story tell itself I believe is the best way, better than trying to fit it all into a premade shape/box.
would have been a nice metaphor to it happening as Jon embraces his Targaryen heritage by mounting a dragon, letting the stark side go and accepting who he really is.
Frankly I’d just re-edit the season, with the battle for Kingslanding happening before the new Long Night, editing out Dany’s crazy turn. Arya kills Cersei and takes a ship west to escape punishment. The last scene of the show ends with Theon charging the Night King, and Jon calling for Ghost as he stares down undead Viserion, then cuts to grey. -- If I had a chance to be in the writing room, I’d pitch the idea that after they take Kinglanding, Cersei is placed in house arrest. The Iron Throne secured, Dany then agrees to help Jon. Back in Winterfell, Bran says that they would not be able to stop White Walkers with one battle at Winterfell. So instead, they plan to turn Winterfell into a trap. Tyrion and Jamie arrange for Wildfire to be brought from Kings landing and placed around Winterfell. Most of the allied forces are split up and sent south, escorting the civilians. Leaving only volunteers behind. As Winterfell falls, taking out a couple White Walkers and sizable portion of their wight army, winter falls across all of Westeros, it’s cold and snowing even as far south as the southern shores of Dorne. Bran tells them that he must go to the Isle of Faces where the final battle must take place. We are down to the best fighters of Westeros vs the Night King and his remaining White Walkers and both sides armies. Jamie is killed by the Night King defending Bran while fighting off two White Walkers. Jon arrive before the Night King can kill Bran. Jon challenges the Night King to duel, who accepts. The rest of the White Walkers and all of their wights stop. During the duel. Jon is severely injuried by the Night King, but Ghost intervenes, sacrificing himself to give Jon an opening that he uses with his dying strength to kill the Night King. The Night King’s remaining lieutenants, accept the terms of Jon’s challenge and leave to return to the Lands of Always Winter. However, since Jon had help, they release their wights from their control, who go berserk, attacking and killing anything and everything. They simply don’t have enough man power to stop them from spreading across Westeros. Meanwhile back at Kingslanding, Cersei has been freed and decided that if she can’t sit on the Iron Throne, no one should. She has the Red Keep brought down with their remaining Wildfire. Which inadvertently sets off fires throughout much of Kinglanding. For this, even her own men turn on her, save for the Mountain. Jamie and the Hound show up. While the Hound and the Mountain have it out, Jamie seemingly leads Cersei away to safety. When Cersei says that she needs to stop to catch her breath. Jamie reveals himself to actually be Arya. Arya chokes Cersei with her Queen’s Hand (Qyburn’s) Maester’s chain, which is also adorned with the symbol of the King’s Hand. Before it is done. Arya is spotted and called out for regicide. She flees Kinglanding, and assumes the guise of Theon, and orders his ship to set sail for what’s west of Westeros, just as Dany arrives in Kinglanding on Dragon.
John should have killed Danny before the knight king battle igniting his sword in flame for filling the proficy before he had a huge final show down and battle with the Knight King imo
I really liked what they wrote with Jamie. Him all in black except for the gold hand, and dying an "oath breaker" at the bottom of the towerr. That was good. But Jon leaving Ghost behind, NO WAY, he gettin on that dragon with Jon!!
No hate to the author, but this isn't a very good take on a finale season, kinda feels like they didn't understand it much better than d&d did. And that's saying a lot when nearly everyone has done a rewrite of the ending that's way better than what we got 🤷
One question for the writer. How come Baric Von Derion's magic fired Valyrian steel sword had no effect on the night king when later Jon's lit sword does?
I really like it.the fight against the whites is interesting and the ending with no one on the iron throne and bran leaving makes way more sense then the original
I just finished rewatching the entire series. I had not rewatched any of it since the finale. While I do believe the last two seasons should have been 10 episodes and not rushed, I was ok with the ending then and am still ok with it now. I was able to understand more this time around and place so much more foreshadowing in the earlier seasons which helped. I will always love GOT!
About the refugees from Winterfell- White walkers goes after living so they would stop only for killing all survivors in the city but then they would march to south. and they are fast and don't need to rest. So any refugee without horse is completely screwed. You can't somehow retreat like from normal army. This is a plot hole.
It would have made more sense if jon killed dany as a mercy kill because she was broken when she fell with drogon, much like aegon in hotd. K owing he must do it and her being on her way to death already would have been more in character for him. Wow, I got chills at the part where cersei dies birthing a drawf. Would love to have seen that in the show, it's a great full circle. Idk so much about her apologizing, but chills as a reaction is pretty good.
One of the biggest problems with the final few episodes was the obsession to bring all the characters together and form a GOT Avengers. The show never needed to do that in the past, and it wasn't needed for the finale. You could have fan favourites at different locations around the map, and still have them playing a part in the larger story. The teleportation movements from one episode to the next were painfully obvious, and the only swift travelling should have been characters hitching rides on Dragons backs. Winterfell should have been defended by the Nights Watch, any Stark soldiers left at the castle, and Dany & Jon with the Dragons. The survivors leaving down a hidden tunnel is a good idea, and then have them constantly being chased and hounded by the army of the dead, as it slowly moves south. Dany and Jon with a few of the more senior team members like Arya, Jorah and the Hound, could then fly by dragon down to Kings Landing to TRY and convince Cersei that her own plans of domination are pointless, and she HAS to help protect the realm. I would then have the Night King fly by dragon to towns near KL, and slaughter all the residents there, to build a small dead army in the south. While the bulk of his forces slowly continue to move through the countryside. The finale would then be a final battle against an almost unstoppable NK and his new dead army, which increases in size with every person they kill. Personal rivalries and motivations will surface during the chaos, and multiple story arcs will end suddenly in the brutal heat of battle. None of our heroes that are present at the fight can physically harm the NK, but Bran will play a crucial part, while he is hidden with Sam far away ... A psychic attack of sorts will help defaet the NK - giving Brans whole story arc meaning. The final blow will be delivered by Jon, as he decapitates the NK. Jamie would kill Cersei as she is about to order that hidden wildfire is ignited, and Jamie would then throw himself from the tower. Dany and Jon survive, and rule together with Jon never revealing his secret identity to anyone. They name their first son ... Ned.
There’s no way GRRM is actually aiming for Jon and Dany marrying being a good thing. Incest is the downfall of a dynasty. This story isn’t all about Targaryen supremacy. That’s not GRRM style at all. He actually critiques this idea of exceptionalism in all his other stories why would he change just for ASOIAF.
It’s crazy how I am still holding out for the books that never maybe released and hoping they will write all the wrongs of the show. The books were so much better. Same with the Last Kingdom series.
Since George Martin says he doesn't like good vs evil characters or stories, the only way game of thrones should have ended, in a true George Martin style, is for the white walkers to win. George Martin would be going against the norm of letting the good guys win if he let the white walkers win. If you think about it the only way to bring true peace to westeros is if everyone becomes a white walker.
I still don't get how Arya didn't turn when the night king had her by the neck. I still think it would be class if he transferred his powers over to her as a slow burner. She then meets Jon at hardhome after her travels ,and her being north of the wall activates the powers he had and it all begins again 👌
At this point if they could resign all the actors and run it back with a new finish after Cersei wakes from a ‘bad dream’ then I would rewusbsscribe to HBO
I like this version way better than the crap that made the final cut! I really like this! I didn't like however the whole Jamie ending if he's not gonna die with cerce then you gotta at least have him show up dead to try and kill cerce, one would think.
There were parts I liked and parts I disliked for sure. I was completely gobsmacked when Ghost died… if rewriting the ending, I don’t know why you would keep 6 episodes as it’s just really not enough and one of the main problems with seasons 7&8 I didn’t like that when they retreated from Winterfell, everyone else north of Kings Landing is just cannon fodder that Jon doesn’t care about? That being said, considering this was written before season 8 came out that’s actually insane how close certain things were
How can I send you mine, I had friends read it and by the end of it they told me they were in tears… so I believe you’d like it too. I re-wrote the last two seasons, I’d love your opinion.
i do like alot of this there are a couple things id have done differently but for most part its good, my main thing is write it to where john doesnt have plot armor but to certain degree its necessary as the main hero but in books hes not really a warrior big strong nah hes more a smart fighter calculated manipulative and deceptive he def lies in books where the show he just ANT lie BOOK john wouldve lied to cersei a thousand times and wouldnt feel bad shes the enemy
For me, being team Stark all the way, I don't like that Jon and Ghost died in this version. I still see Jon as a Stark. You are my go to for all things GOT.

Way better than what we got
And this sure didn't go as planned for Cersei 🤣
This was better than what we got, but I hated the what is west is westeros bit so much. Shame they kept that in
Euron has a magic horn that control dragons
Way better than we had. The writers had two years and couldn't come up with something decent !
There were parts I liked and parts I disliked for sure. I was completely gobsmacked when Ghost died… if rewriting the ending, I don’t know why you would keep 6 episodes as it’s just really not enough and one of the main problems with seasons 7&8
I didn’t like that when they retreated from Winterfell, everyone else north of Kings Landing is just cannon fodder that Jon doesn’t care about? That being said, considering this was written before season 8 came out that’s actually insane how close certain things were
it was maegors holdfast where cersei hid right? i think
How can I send you mine, I had friends read it and by the end of it they told me they were in tears… so I believe you’d like it too.
I re-wrote the last two seasons, I’d love your opinion.
I remember hearing this story before but it was read by someone else.
I'm just after listening to this story and to be honest it was ok It should have been a bit longer, will anyway good story
Game of Thrones ends a la “Valar Morghulis.”
As good as this one is I prefer the one where Danny and Jon/Aegon survive and rekindle the Targaryen/Stark dynasty.
Cercei birthing an imp is so far the best of the story.
Good script but i still prefer ur version, it was more intriguing and covered more material
i do like alot of this there are a couple things id have done differently but for most part its good, my main thing is write it to where john doesnt have plot armor but to certain degree its necessary as the main hero but in books hes not really a warrior big strong nah hes more a smart fighter calculated manipulative and deceptive he def lies in books where the show he just ANT lie BOOK john wouldve lied to cersei a thousand times and wouldnt feel bad shes the enemy
instead of new shows, they should have just had a different version of season 8 every year.
For me, being team Stark all the way, I don't like that Jon and Ghost died in this version. I still see Jon as a Stark. You are my go to for all things GOT.
😮
Same!
That was fire
