I remember watching each part of this series and LITERALLY jumping up and down when tge 4960 started. Always have and always will live the farming dream vicariously through this channel.
Got a 1964 Simplicity Landlord a year ago; the work it did on the property so got me so hooked on tractor capability that I was fascinated with your 4960 resurrection. I watched the entire series today and related to your inability to scrap the 4960. The meticulous attention to detail was noteworthy along with the occasional departures from reason. I anticipate there will be times I do things only to realize the approach came from you and your 4960 project. Thanks for the time it took to record and edit as well as the never again realization. I appreciate the look over your shoulder; it was a great way to spend a final flu recovery day.
As a snot-nosed suburban raised kid i am totally impressed! So the tractor burns is a total loss, and sits in the field for awhile. I think many would sell or part out what was still usable. But you REBUILD it. I am officially blown away.
I can't believe I just spent the majority of the day watching this entire rebuild from start to finish. Fantastic work, doesn't matter how it was done it's done it runs and able to keep going. The fire may have been a blessing in disguise?
Another fantastic video Wes, congrats on getting the head gasket issue resolved. Your 4960 looks and sounds like a new machine now that you and Tim have reworked the whole myriad of fire damaged components. Many good hours of field time will repay you for your efforts !
I personally like the 4960 better then any of your other tractors including the 8120. The 4960 was back when they were producing big well made tractors with high horsepower it's big and it's mean that's what I like about it and I love when you rev it up it rolls some coal that's what a tractor should do great work congrats must feel great. Can't wait to see it working
A job well done. It's been a pleasure to watch every obstacle overcome. Doff my cap to ya'll. I'll bet your Dad is fair proud that you got it running, late or not!
I love the 4960s they are such damn good beautiful mean tractors we mostly use them on our farm but we're going to 8420s now I still love to run the 60s though it was the first tractor I learned to drive nice tractor btw
she went up that hill like she woz on a flat road excellent work wes we new you would get there in the end. just brilliant work my hat of to you and tim.
i agree she is snotty as a 3 year old!! i pulled a 20 ton load of hay up a hill that it would normally not do in 15 th gear but it yanked it up there like nothing..
Great job, great to see and hear it run. Look forward to seeing it work. As a guy that knows almost nothing about farming I was wondering if the 4 wheel drive is used a lot for your day to day jobs? It just seems that for many decades all tractors where 2WD and now it seems much more common for 4WD. Anyway, nice work and I would be steaming over the bad torque instructions you got. Damn that made a lot more work for you.
do you ever sleep? fixing the sprayer, going to wegners for a tire.Spray the fields repair the head! post videos! All in a days work for onelonleyfarmer! Cool to watch the hill climb! Nice work! Have a fun weekend!
Must be nice to have it finally finished ! just some finishing TLC and and the old JD with be good to go ! nice job , lots of GRUNT involved in this one ,LOL
are there any pressure switches in the AC-Circuit? There may be low pressure (prevents freezing) and high pressure (prevent blowing) so without having the circuit filled, there will be no power to the clutch
Did the rebuild make you sick of this beautiful tractor, or is it your PHOENIX arising out of the ashes? I would have a special appreciation for this tractor if it were me, but I didn't spend all of that money or do all of that work. Great job!
If you don't have a charge it in the ac system the clutch probably will not have power. Low pressure cut out switch. Good job Tim its a good thing you have Wes to help.
its amazing how here in ireland a 130 horse tractor is considered big!, but of course anything bigger would be hitting all the trees down the tight country roads
Wes, I think she is better now then when you bought the baby. Give that girl a big hug and get her a dozen roses. As for the ac clutch check the relay on other model johnny's they're known to go bad. Again you and your boys did one hell of a job. A full restore on Dad's Farmall next?
Is it the low pressure safety switch on the air conditioning that isn't allowing power to the pump. Just wondering they can be a buger to get going them winter air machines.
AC compressor clutch won't get any juice without a charge on the system. The system should have two switches, one on the low side to ensure that the compressor gets refrigerant (and oil). The one on the high side keeps the pressure from getting to high, maybe from a blockage or a bad expansion valve, or not enough air moving across the condenser core to cool it. Jumping the wires at the low pressure switch and you should see the clutch work..
You may not get electric to the clutch until it is charged. I hav no idea on that Deere but it is common pump won't run without a charge. You'll figure it out, I'll enjoy the video.
Yes good point! There is most likely a pressure switch on the refrigerant line and won't activate the compressor (to protect it from wear) until it's recharged.
Was going to say the same myself, on automotive there would be a high and low pressure switch to save the compressor if there is an issue... might be the same on a Deere...
The aircon may not have any power down to the clutch until the system is gassed up. Most systems have a pressure switch on the smaller daimeter pipe. its designed so it doesn't run when the gas pressure is low so it doesn't destroy the compressor. The compressor has teflon coated pistons which will get torn to shreads if they don't have the oil and gas to run in. Good to see its a happening thing.

Your a pretty darn good repairman. Anyone who can tear down and rebuild a tractor like that has got good mechanical abilities.

Sweet- 4960 looks great! Better than ever. Beautiful job on her boys !
As a snot-nosed suburban raised kid i am totally impressed! So the tractor burns is a total loss, and sits in the field for awhile. I think many would sell or part out what was still usable. But you REBUILD it. I am officially blown away.
Great series. Well done on saving her, she's a beauty.
Great series, Great Job.
I miss our old 4960. Traded it and got an 8130. It was a great tractor and The one I grew up driving on the farm.
Well done you two! Tonight we open bottle of nice red wine to celebrate!
I can't believe I just spent the majority of the day watching this entire rebuild from start to finish. Fantastic work, doesn't matter how it was done it's done it runs and able to keep going. The fire may have been a blessing in disguise?
Congrats Wes and Tim...man that has to be a great feeling to see that thing run again!
Another fantastic video Wes, congrats on getting the head gasket issue resolved.

Watched the entire series in one sitting ... now I got tractor ass ... big project and great job!
That is my favorite tractor of all time
Cant wait to see this 4960 working in the fields. Great video once again.
A job well done. It's been a pleasure to watch every obstacle overcome. Doff my cap to ya'll. I'll bet your Dad is fair proud that you got it running, late or not!
Nice to see the tractor running rather than on the scrap heap. Glad you took the time and effort to save her.
I love the 4960s they are such damn good beautiful mean tractors we mostly use them on our farm but we're going to 8420s now I still love to run the 60s though it was the first tractor I learned to drive nice tractor btw

That was a big big job to rebuild a your burned out 4960 runs and looks great!!
she went up that hill like she woz on a flat road excellent work wes we new you would get there in the end. just brilliant work my hat of to you and tim.

How did you fix that alternator problem - runs real well - how long many hours approximately did it take to do this?????? the hole thing???
It looks great and sounds great. Are you going to get it painted? I know you thought about that on one of previous videos.
good show !
its amazing how here in ireland a 130 horse tractor is considered big!, but of course anything bigger would be hitting all the trees down the tight country roads
Yea!!! Its a thing of beauty!! Now get that tractor to work.
out of all ur tractors, what is your favorite?
Wes, I think she is better now then when you bought the baby. Give that girl a big hug and get her a dozen roses. As for the ac clutch check the relay on other model johnny's they're known to go bad. Again you and your boys did one hell of a job. A full restore on Dad's Farmall next?
Nice job guys. A couple little things to tidy up and she'll be better than new.

cool nice tractor
out of ur fleet what is ur favorite tractor
Is it the low pressure safety switch on the air conditioning that isn't allowing power to the pump. Just wondering they can be a buger to get going them winter air machines.
Looking great. Btw Tim should make his own channel, maybe make himself a few extra bucks too.
He does have his own channel
Whats his channel name? Never seen it.
It's Tim Pandy for anyone interested. Just type in his name and it'll be at the top.
Can I ask how much you put back into it to restore the 4960?
My condolences for your loss.I m sure many on youtube would have like to have known her .
Do you still have the 4960 and what do you use it for
AC compressor clutch won't get any juice without a charge on the system. The system should have two switches, one on the low side to ensure that the compressor gets refrigerant (and oil). How long did it take u to rebuild the 4960

Nice!
Hey Wes did you ever get around to putting a cab kit in?
Tim nice job, you do much better than I do keeping your mouth shut while holding a camera. I always end up talking to myself.
You may not get electric to the clutch until it is charged. I hav no idea on that Deere but it is common pump won't run without a charge. You'll figure it out, I'll enjoy the video.

just curious , will your insurance cover it now , being they wrote it off once before ???
Why wouldn't they?
Shockedbywater some will not cover a car that was deemed a total loss ...
Yay!!! Yup, put her work!!
Wes, do you make your own hydraulic hoses?
Holy cow I had the biggest smile on my face
that made my day!!
