I bought bimmerlink, can manually control the exhaust valve for 30quid. Better than messing about under the car IMP
hi, i get high O2 readings with it closed....should i keep it open? now its in factory setting and not in sports mod...when its open would it effect my o2 readings?
I put a different muffler on that didn't need the valve. I tucked the plug up and obviously left it unplugged. My gas mileage went way down. Is thus possible caused by deleting the valve? I never got a check engine light. My car is a 23 m440i.
I just pulled the plug in the boot of my e90 335i n54 and that keeps the flap open permanently. The cold starts are great 😅

hey I've just found this video after picking up my 2013 320i Touring M Sport, do you know if the m sport wagons have a flap/valve also?

HELP. I’ve recently bought a m135i exhaust to get a dual exit exhaust on my 120D. How do i go about getting the valve cabled up if its a none valved car to begin with? How can i get the valve to work as it normally would?
I went to do a muffler delete today on my 2015 n20 328i, the guy told me it wouldn’t be a good idea because that “sensor” on the exhaust (valve actuator) needs to stay there because if not it will throw up engine codes and car will go into safe mod and lose power. Is that true Doc? Am I able to get rid of that valve actuator to get a muffler delete without any problems.

Another fix for this is to disconnect the solenoid and put a termination resistor on the connector coming from the engine computer so you don't get a fault code. BMW sells a connector with a termination resistor and they also sell a blank connector that you can insert into the connector on the solenoid so it doesn't get corroded. To use this method, you have to remove the solenoid, turn the solenoid to the open position and then reinstall it. If you want to go back to stock, just reconnect the wire. I did it on my F39, which has the same solenoid as on your car.
You can do this in many many ways, including what you just said, or you can pull the fuse that operates the valve, Or you can put it in sport mode Rev it as soon as the flap opens disconnect it, or you can weld it open as they have done with mine. Or better still change it to a milltek exhaust system and be happy 😃

@@BMWDoctor I set my flap through BimmerLink with no issues. BimmerCode does not have engine upgrades for my 2013 X1. I opened my exhaust flap in BimmerLink, which is basically a poor man’s sports mode.
How can you turn the solenoid into open position? Mine does not seem to work at all and is pretty stiff and is in close. Can you force it with a screwdriver?
My 5 series just disconnect the arm that opens and closes and I used a nail to pin the flapper open. The module thinks it's opening and closing but it's not. 10 minutes max to do.
Why would you want them open if it takes longer to warm the engine, you lose power and the back pressure to turbo is lower?? Weird
Who knows why 🤔 old owner welded it open why anyone would do it is besides me 🤔

Just take out fuse when when the valve is open , then stays open all the time and no fault codes !!

Dump 4 gallions of paint thinner in the gas tank whennits empty and add 1/4 tank of gas to clean out the cats and it will clean them out..

I believe there is a dummy plug available from BMW that you plug in when the BMW MPE exhaust is fitted to stop the error message.
Yeah I know there is now, I think whoever owned this did this when that wasn’t available that’s why they welded it open. Either that OR the actuator was so expensive to buy back then they couldn’t be bothered to replace it. Who knows 🤷♂️

My 330e g21 u can choose engine sound in all modes. U dont have to do this , u can open the valve at start. Maybe this is not the case in older models
Why does mine not open on the right side after a muffler delete. Everything is plugged in. And the left side makes an audible rattle when opening closing.

😂😂😂 I bet these are way way to loud with that flap open. I thought my M5 was loud on cold start this is another level, yet someone wanted it like this permanently. I can’t take it much more 😂

Yeah bro I’m doing that this month I have too, you know what it ain’t even expensive for this car either ! It’s like £700 for the milltek system so I thought f**k it I’m gonna put that on. Makes more sense, I mean mine is way way to loud constantly as the flap never closes so even driving without sport mode it’s just open and loud. I mean don’t get me wrong I like it, but coming from my E60 M5 I can’t take that noise all day everyday when I want to use my M135i as my everyday car. But I got to say I love that N55 rumble 😍 nothing beats it not even the B58 the roar exhaust sound, especially when you plant your foot jhezzzzeeee this thing “MOVES” 😂 I mean let’s just say I had my M5 over a year and didn’t get a speeding ticket, I got this within the first 2 days I got a speeding ticket 😂😂
@@BMWDoctor That's strange to me why you find your car so loud once it's fully warmed up 🤔, Mined has the decat pipe done and it's MHD stage 2+, And still I find it quiet on normal daily driving, Can the exhaust valve be stuck in the closed position? Is your exhaust stock.. I wonder if someone has done the back box mod to yours when they were welding the valve open 🤔
I think they did indeed mate, mine has been gutted and welded therefore it’s very very loud and roars even when your foot ain’t planted 😅 I will have to do a cold start on it before I put the milltek exhaust system so you can hear it, I mean I will even Rev it and you can hear the back pressure from the turbo when it’s revved over 3k 😅 I mean I gotta say I do like it. But I wanted a silent car as all my cars are loud
