this is genius, not just because of the video but also because it doesnt make any sense. fits perfect for a style that also doesnt make any sense (but somehow manages to work)
It does get me thinking though. Genuinely. Though my background is in graphic design, it gets me thinking of a current trend of "Brutalism" or "Anti-Design" currently going around in the design community.
I do wonder how much connection there is to this style in fashion having to Brutalism. Like if it's similar but different, sort of how Y2K goes gannd in hand both in fashion and design, or minimalism, etc.

Carti really hit an almost post-punk avant-garde hybrid that pairs a lot of the dark flashy punk stuff with avant-garde pieces that elevate the whole look. Very interesting how the styles come together so well.

Your interior design analogy is on point. The best advice I can give, to anyone who even cares, is to have an empty clothing rack to to pick pieces from your other racks / storage and set them up on the empty rack. Also, I’m pretty sure you’ve mentioned this in a video before, but body type has a lot to do w/ what can be pulled off and what can’t be. Also a big advocate for androgyny and having a uniform. Statement items can be added when / as required. But hey, who’s going to listen to me - it’s not like I know anything 🙃

the problem with fashion is that it’s nearly impossible to distinguish between just liking a certain aesthetic or liking the “individuality” you think it will give you.
it’s just human nature that we will always get desensitized to what we like now.
we will always grow tired of something we like NOW.
it’s the exact same for music, your favorite song NOW is probably a different song than was it was a year ago
The problem is we have a system in place that constantly feeds us new things to like and makes us feel incomplete. We have to be new and different. We have to be unique and interesting. Its all just unsustainable and we all fall for the trap

This just looks like pure style over substance. Like how they say in cyberpunk if you botch something make it look like you intended for it to turn out that way. this is the great pendulum of art for hundreds of years that you are touching on here, which manifests in fashion, graphics, music, anything that is an art form of humans. on the one side is Neoclassical - rules-based, simple, minimal, derived from principles of proportion and color that are laid down in advance. orderly. in graphic design its grids and formulae about margins and font sizes. in music its rules of harmony and chords. in fashion its clean minimal fits or the rules of fine English or Italian tailoring. On the other side its Romanticism. Chaos. Emotion and randomness. In graphics its grunge style or graffiti. In music its jazz or punk. In fashion its avant garde or what you just did your video on. The swing between neoclassicism and romanticism has gone back and forth for hundreds of years in all art forms and you're on that pendulum right now. we all are. great work.

i reckon part of the reason the sh*t slaps and manages to be coherent is the monochormality of it. except a few examples, there wasnt a ton of colour. but when there was it was the perfect and only hard splash. i dig it.
seems hard to pull off without a decent ammount of money. i could imagine tons of mirror experiments and having a large weapon pool to draw from would be ideal for nailing the magick fit. i imagine a jackson pollock attempt of throwing sh*t at the wall to see what comes out. maybe its PollockCore

Most of the ppl wearing these outfits come from the gucci t shirt, balmain jeans and jordan retro 11 era.
Like he said, most ppl are still in that era. It’s the boldness to try rave pants, or big ass rick boots. It’s not some niche avant- garde style anymore, they’ve made it applicable to streetwear. So at a basic, entry level, sure it’s not hard to work together. However, the creativity shows for the top-tier fits. Mixing the textures, materials, proportions, it’s far more sophisticated from your typical streetwear outfit that’s cotton head to toe.
I think the gallucks example shows how though it’s all black, the textures and proportions still matter to make it work. Can easily fall into the trap of trying this and it comes out terrible.
