ALL THE CANDY - Novelty Two Step (published by Jenkins, 1907). We had the pleasure a while back of playing this tune for Mrs. E. Harry Kelly at her home In Kansas City, Missouri. This piece was a big hit in Kansas City and it was a featured number of Kelly's orchestra for years. The picture on the cover of the sheet music (click the link below to see the picture) is probably a caricature of Kelly himself. He was quite a flashy dresser and Mrs. Kelly tells the story of one time when Harry worked for Jenkins and arrived for work wearing a bright red vest. He was sent home to change by Mr. Jenkins who complained that he was driving potential customers away. The title of the tune may refer to his fondness for sweets (Mrs. Kelly says, "He always was a poor eater") or may possibly be a reflection on the fact that his brother-in-law owned a candy factory and therefore had access to all the candy.
