*NOTE should be made on #21 with the "Recent Deceased" book. In the first one there are two versions, one a hardcover one that the dead had and a second a paperback version that Charles Deetz (Jeffrey Jones) was reading at the end. This is why I didn't think Jeremy was dead, because as a kid in the 90s I thought they republish the book for modern day, and he found it at a garage sale
It's my head canon that Barbara and Adam's loophole was fulfilling their unfinished business. They always wanted a family (or child) and found that in Lydia.
Delores design actually looks like Sally from the nightmare before Christmas. They even have similar cut lines on their faces. They even put themselves together with sewing or stapling
@@Jeffrey_zeta I caught it on the first going. Yeah. BeetleJuice was the first disc shipped by Netflix in that year but it did come out in 1988 and then I want to say 3 years later the action figures started rolling out.
Danny DeVito's cameo includes Easter eggs to both Burton Batman films. The green fluid seeping from his mouth and grunts while walking are evocative of DeVito's Penguin performance in Batman Returns (albeit in a different prosthetic makeup). And what is Lieutenant Eckhart's first line in Batman '89? "Ahhhh, drinking Draino!"
It is certainly a setup for a 3rd film, but it will all depend on how this one does at the box office. So far, not bad, but not amazing, so I guess we'll see.
I think they could have included Adam and Barbara as animation when Lydia says they found a way to cross over. they could have used their voices just so they would be part of it.
He's not throwing shade at Disney, it's just a running joke in general that Disney fairy tales often have dead parents and especially mothers. Burton was a Disney animator and Touchstone pictures released Nightmare Before Christmas. He has a long history with them, even if at odds with them sometimes.
My question is about Lydia's ex: did he off himself (somehow via piranha)? Because the first movie established that people who do become civil servants in the afterlife.
I do believe that one scene at the ACU or whatever where Dafoe is instructing guards to search for Beetlejuice and Lydia they do this great bit where he's reading his speech from massive cue cards and you can see direct reference to searching the "sands of Titan" so yeah, given the Oh that's Saturn, we must be on one of its moons thing, it's definitely meant to be Titan. The reason Beetleguese is in the after life waiting room is that for a split second the wedding was finalized, he became mortal, then redied when he was eaten by the sandworm.
the part in the movie beetlejuice 2 where lydia and beetlejuice dance suspended in the air at the wedding, is very similar to the scene present in labyrinth where jareth (david bowie) dances with Sarah. Is it possible that tim burton wanted to film the iconic scene of labyrinth, cult movie?
This might be a stretch but I think that the burned Santa Claus in the waiting room is a call back to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before christmas.
