Day 3 of a garden room build tutorial

- Day 3, like a total tool, I forgot the Paslode and Davey forgot the levels. Not the best start to a day or a build tutorial. But in true style we over came the obstacles we put in our own way and marched on.
The build is going slower than hoped but I have a family issue ongoing that takes priority over all.
Please continue to watch and I will pursue this solo build to its conclusion using as little power tools as possible.

Can’t believe I have only just discovered you. Most informative and detailed series I’ve ever watched. Hands down. Most people do tutorials but jump to the next scene and miss out a tonne of things in between..and you’re left wondering how the hell they got there. You do not miss a single thing out. Not usually a commenter but this is helping an unbelievable amount - Every video I watch I get more and more confident I could do it myself with no DIY experience, I know when it comes to it I'll end up with a 45-degree floor and four walls with no door but it's the thought that counts!

Hi Liam, Thanks so much for doing these suit of videos, these really do mirror the struggles some of us DIYers have without all the tools you pros use for a job. It really helps show us how we can make do with what we have and although a longer time will be spent in the build because of it, this only makes me more confident in the undertaking. Can't wait fo the rest of the series, keep up the great videos - and Davey, good camera work! Cheers :)
Certainly a chilly one - You give so much detail basically for free. I'm not planning on building a garden room but do a lot of diy and just enjoy watching and listening to you

Recent discovery on a build was gun grade D4 flooring glue. Much faster than messing around with squeezy bottle and its the same stuff chemically (it'll also stain your skin black!). Also works in the freezing cold.
It was Wurth D4 but guy in my merchant told me that the Great Stuff Pro for windows and doors was the same gear.

This is the way. When I first got my impact driver I exploded *loads* of bits fitting a security door before switching to the shockwaves and didn't explode any more
Excellent again 👏. Can I have Jens job it looks cushy haha. Totally agree regarding the flooring. I used to work a lot with timber frame apartments and houses and you can just fly the flooring boards through. They do not need to end on a joist

you mention paslode nailers, for the DIY person air nailers are worth a try £600 for paslode £100 for air nailer from your favourite toolstation nails are half the price as well plenty of uses for a compressor afterwards ? 50mm air stapler will fix the sheets £50, piles for the base is a great idea had not thought of that one, keep up the good work.
Really enjoying this series. As I will hopefully try next summer to build something a bit smaller but the process will be the same and as I have limited tools it's nice to see it been done by one person using limited tools. Let's hope with some bit of practice I may be able to attempt something bigger down the line.

Just for future reference Liam the grid references marks on the PIR boards are spaced 100mm each, so just cut down those lines rather than having to mark with the tape measure if cutting 400s et cetera, but I still think you’re great. Keep up the good work and thanks for what you do

Bizarrely they don’t always start the sheet on a full 100mm square like you think they would, that’s why you have to measure

Thank you for making these great videos. I had the same problem with screw bits breaking very often. I came across bronze coated KTX screws that come with screw bit in every box. I went through roughly 30 boxes and the screw bit never broke. That's using it with impact driver. It does wear out a little on the edges eventually, but you get new one in with every box. Designed for exterior use and tested with saltwater spraying for 2000 hours. 3, 4, 5 (diameter) screws use same size screw bit, so no need to change them when screwing smaller or bigger screws. I use heavy-duty pallet strapping to support the insulation underneath very fast to fit comes on a roll and save space in the van very easy to take from job to job

Could be the low temperature making the metal of the drill/screw bits brittle causing them to snap. Have had the same problem with jigsaw blades. Great well presented videos. You've got a fantastic team working with you. All the best, Pete 👍

It's probably the impact driver breaking the bits. Impact drivers make screwing in longer screws a lot easier but are not necessary for shorter screws.
