Great video Ameer! I just picked up the Ledger Nano S and am excited to try it out. I was wondering though - do you know if any wallets are part of publicly traded companies that can be bought on stock exchanges? I feel like as cryptocurrency becomes more mainstream the wallets will of course also become more mainstream, so it might be good to invest in some wallet companies early. Thanks!
Thanks for this help. I'm just getting started! At this point everything seems so complicated. Do you have a video on which exchange to use? How do I take the tokens off the exchange and put them in that paper wallet?
First, you have to create a paper wallet to send the token to (or set up software on your computer). That wallet must the same type that the token is compatible with. For example many tokens work with Etherium and would use an Etherium style wallet. There are programs for making paper wallet. If you buy crypto from a crypto ATM, they usually print a paper wallet for you. Before you buy any more crypto, make sure you understand how to move from one wallet to another.
Saw some people confused on the reason for a hard wallet so wanted to help. Your wallet does not actually store your crypto currencies. Instead it is actually your private key that it stores. That key is what has access to the Blockchain where on the distributed ledger (Blockchain) your currency can be used. So the wallet is not your typical wallet where all the money is kept. It’s kept on the more secure public Blockchain which “so far” so one has hacked being that is a public decentralized Blockchain unlike the private ones. Talked about that in one of my videos on my page.

From my many years in the crypto market here is what I've learned: - Never leave your coins in a crypto exchange, if it crashes, disappears you lose your coins. - for long term hold, store your coins in cold paper or hardware wallet - nothing wrong with also having a transitional wallet for your phone or desktop, so you can move between your exchange and your cold wallet.

I have a question Ameer? If you lose your cold hardware wallet like Trezor, but u can get your coins back. Doesn't that mean the privat key is with Trezor? In that case that would make it unsafe? Wouldn't it be safer to create several accounts and have them on a paper wallet and/or USB?

The simple answer is to just get a hard wallet or cold storage. Coinbase has had bug issues and is subject to get hacked. Like he said I wouldn't trust more than a couple hundred in that wallet...
But to answer your question I don't think you can. I have limited knowledge on coinbase because it crashed so many times I went to bread wallet and works great. Questions: So an Exchange keeps both your Private and Public keys to where your Crypto coin addresses are on the blockchains, correct?? And a hot wallet is a place where you can access your crypto's address on the respective different blockchains (each coins blockchain), where the website(a hot wallet?), or app(hot wallet?) has your public key, but your device has your private key to your blockchain addresses??

Can I put the bitcoin on a ledger nano and the see the value of the bitcoin rise or will it stop once I take it out of the Coinbase wallet?
George let's say you buy 0.154 of bitcoin worth 1,000 US dollars on coin base, you move the 0.154 to your hard wallet, bitcoin price sky rockets and so does the Amount of bitcoin you bought, so your 0.154 is now worth 2100
M stylezYT, thanks for the reply. So, lemme make sure I undertand correctly. Even if I move my funds to a hard wallet like "Nano S" ? If this is so, can I not just invest bitcoin to my "Hard Wallet" and eliminate hacking risk all together ??
George yeah that's typically what people do buy bit coin move it to hard wallet to avoid risks of hackers , and just leave it there and watch it grow worry free

Thanks for the video Ameer! I was hoping for some advice on wallets that I can use to store my bitcoin before this possible hard fork coming up on August 1. I have ordered a Ledger Nano S, but it looks like it won't be arriving until after August 1 (there was apparently a huge influx of orders). What wallets can we use to store bitcoin so that if the fork happens, our bitcoin will be split between the two chains after the fork? I have a couple of mobile wallets (Copay and Jaxx) - will those work? And if the fork happens will it literally be an overnight thing? Where before August 1 there is a certain amount of bitcoin, and then after the fork the wallet will just distribute between the two currencies accordingly (assuming that one is using a proper wallet that allows this split)? My first choice would be to just hold in the Ledger Nano S, but as I said, it looks like the delivery won't be in time. Thanks for all your great info!!

What a great video Ameer. Thank you for teaching us and giving us the good information we need. Question: if my bitcoin in the wallet is at the current price at about $5,000, I know it's a little more, per bit coin, and my bit coin now goes to $1,000,000, and I want to cash out. Who is going to buy my bitcoin at that price?
Love your videos Ameer, they are so informative and concise. You have helped me so much in understanding this new and exciting world (for me) of cryptocurrencies. Keep up the good work and a BIG thank you!!!
Bit Shout out to you Ameer!!. Its been a great learning experience from you. I have few questions : can I use ledger nano s and Jaxx (a hardware and a hot wallet to store same cryptocurrency). I just want to create backup just in case one is fried or have some issue. Also can you please tell what actually is the necessary requirement to recover the coins just in case somebody looses wallet from desktop or desktop crashes. This is relevant to all coins not just bitcoins.
As a relative newby, Ameer... I really appreciate your videos. After THREE weeks, I Finally got Coinbase to issue some Crypto to me. Now I'm trying to expand my purchases beyond the paltry three coins that Coinbase deals in. Do some (most?) online wallets have problems working through an IMac as opposed to a PC ? I have fought and FOUGHT trying to move coins from Coinbase to Electrum and a couple other wallets. I'm wondering if they just don't play well with my Mac? Also, do we need different wallets for other coins like Omisego, ARC, Ripple, and/ or certain others? Is there way to find a wallet that will let us imrrt most (if not all) Cryptos? Probably silly questions, but I'm about as computer literate as a friggin' Sea Sponge and could use help from your subscribers out there!
good information ameer and very friendly presentation, a very good style, very clear, thanks I am beginning to understand crypto......its a bit like when the internet first came out, very exciting but very confusing......once you understand the concept of blockchain it is the future, I should have got on board sooner but have been prepping in other ways.......thanks
Thank you for this video. I have been looking at both hard wallets that you went over. My question is, can I store Monero (XMR) and Bytecoin (BCN) on them?
The thing with the paper print outs are is the ink fades, so there's a time limit on the actual print off at the kiosk. So not to sure of a way to transfer the print off to a better longer lasting print.
if i buy bitcoins with a certain exchange and write down the codes on paper, should i then delete any of that info out of the exchange? Then, if the Exchange closed down can i take that piece of paper and type it into another exchange to sell there? Can i go to any exchange with it is what i mean.
Do you have any experience with the offline or software wallets like Armory or Strong Coin? I would like to use a hardware wallet, but in looking at reviews for both the Trezor and Nano Ledger s, I find that about 15% of buyers experience hardware failures, which scare the crap out of me as I would be storing significant dollar amounts on them.
Can you help me understand something? Per your advice at 2:40, is BTC ever transferred? Or, like real estate, are we merely transferring the keys to one another? For example, a house stays in the same spot, but various owners will receive keys to the house throughout its existence. Does btc always stay within the blockchain and we merely pass around keys to it?
Great video, thanks for that ! But what would happen if Trezor went out of business for some reason? Do you lose all your money for good or can you recover it somehow ?
No....the harware is yours. Just like if you host electrum wallet. U can and should export your seed as well as most of the coin to a cold wallet(paper or usb or whateer)

Best wallets = Hard wallets = Trezor, Ledger Nano S, keepKey.
Keepkey is good too!
Nunya Bizniz yeah keepkey better than Trezor, more acceptance for crypto. Ledger blue is a bit overpriced.

From my many years in the crypto market here is what I've learned:
- Never leave your coins in a crypto exchange, if it crashes, disappears you lose your coins.
- for long term hold, store your coins in cold paper or hardware wallet
- nothing wrong with also having a transitional wallet for your phone or desktop, so you can move between your exchange and your cold wallet.
OMG technology is really making life intolerably complex and stressful.
Crypton is a very promising cryptocurrency that is worth our attention.

If you could make a video on the 'best' exchanges to trade on, then that would be fantastic.

How do I back up my coinbase wallet?
Wake up World I want to know too.
I have heard that coinbase support isn't really a thing. So u might be out if luck. But that's just from what I've seen and my limited knowledge

You just made everything more confusing. I had to stop watching.

How long i can leave my bitcoins on the wallet, with no using it?
julio1c1saga Hey buddy you can leave long as you want to
Benjamin, you seem pretty crypto savy. Lets say i've purchased bitcoin thru coinbase and I want to keep it there because the value of the coin continues to rise.
I have been using a couple of crypto but now settled with Atomic Wallet. It such a great wallet and supports multiple cryptos. Just some few months back, the wallet supports staking.
is it safe to keep my currency in my coinbase wallet. do I need another wallet?
Silver Nymph im wondering the same thing. Coinbase has insurance so there's that
As Ameer said in the vid, he does not recommend to store on exchanges. Coinbase is an exchange.
Drefonender what is that
thats the least safe place to keep your money... because you don't hold it, they do...
There is Your Coinbase account for everyday transactions, Alternatively Your Blockchain Wallet 'Vault' account to keep some bitcoin in. Or Your can Save larger amounts into a Trezor ($99), Keepkey, LedgerNano S to keep totally seperate from a PC or Mobile by storing it in USB or Gadget. Exodus & Jaxx help You exchange Your Bitcoin to Alt-coins and vice versa You may have to search for mini/alternative Altcoin exchanges for m/a Altcoins like zcoin, champcoin tho

Thanks for putting up this video. I need to back up my phone and start looking for a new laptop so I will have room for hard wallets. I'm learning as I am going along and I'm getting to the point where I need several wallets set up. Thanks again!
Your video is very helpful. Thank you. What's your opinion about SciDex?
Good Job! Thanks! Have seen several of your videos - thanks for informing us novices!

Golden advice at the end!! NEVER KEEP YOUR MONEY ON OTHER PEOPLES PLATFORMS
Crypto wallet eofinance is really a worthy competitor to today's tops, very pleased with the functionality
if i buy bitcoins with a certain exchange and write down the codes on paper, should i then delete any of that info out of the exchange?
Very good video Ameer. I was looking for a way to store my Bitcoin outside of Coinbase and Blockchain.
