It perfectly describes the optimism and innocence of the late 1990’s. The economy was growing, the Internet was brand new and the possibilities were endless, the president was so competent that his political rivals had to turn to his extramarital affairs in order to impeach him, people still believed in God and went to church/synagogue/mosque, there were no major wars, social media didn’t exist yet, people trusted the government and the media, negative actions had consequences, smartphones didn’t exist so people could live in the moment, there were no pandemics, 9/11 hadn’t happened yet, and the government worked together for the good of the people.

My 8 year old Autistic son came running off the bus telling me he had to get this song by a singer named "Handsome" that the girls on the bus were raving about, they told him it was a boy and that he'd like the song. He had never expressed an interest in music before so we went out that evening with him and had him pick out the CD. He was so proud to set it on the counter and take it home. He got the Hanson poster later that month for his room. He's 32 now and he smiles when he hears the song, he says he still likes it and it reminds him of that bus ride long ago. Music is the great equalizer, it can make a shy Autistic kid just like the other kids....

    Lyrics:
    Oh, Oh
    Oh, oh
    Oh, yeah
You have so many relationships in this life
Only one or two will last
You go through all the pain and strife
You turn your back and they're gone so fast
    Oh yeah
And they're gone so fast, yeah
Oh so hold on to the ones who really care
In the end they'll be the only one's there
When you get old and start losing your hair
Can you tell me who will still care?
Can you tell me who will still care?
    Oh, Oh care
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
    Say oh yeah
    In an mmmbop, gone
    Yeah
    Yeah
Plant a seed, plant a flower, plant a rose
You can plant any one of those
Keep planting to find out which one grows
It's a secret no one knows
It's a secret no one knows
    Oh ohs, no one knows
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
    In an mmmbop, gone
    In an mmmbop, not there
    In an mmmbop, gone
    In an mmmbop, not there
    Until you lose your hair
    Oh, but you don't care
    Oh yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du bop,
    Ba dubadop, ba du
    Yeah
    Can you tell me? oh
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can you tell me? oh yeah
