    It is critical for beginner kits that cost $200+ to get it right. If a company takes advantage of a vulnerable customer for a quick buck, I won’t even bother looking at their premium products. That said, BetaFPV has done great things pushing micros to another level, but needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. ☝️

  • @rayikaikin

    i get what you're saying about having all the channels is not beginner friendly, but beginners can learn down the road and it would be better to have those channels accessible in case you get interference. imagine you get this and the 4 preset channels are all static in the area you want to fly? instead i would suggest a beginner/expert setting to unlock advanced features.

    • @UAVfutures
      @UAVfutures  25 днів тому +1

      nice suggestions. maybe an option just lock it to one channel AND then if they want to switch to expert mode have some way to do so. I have only ever had interfenence once on a channel so i imagine the odds would be pretty small to be locked out on all 4 though.

    Good on you stew for telling it like it is, and also good on beta fpv too for taking your advice and listening to your feedback. Sometimes a company will make an error in what they put out for the public, some will try to gaslight you for not liking your opinion, but with them being flexible enough to send you an updated product shows that they are willing to pay you respect for your opinion. That will not just help people to avoid a lousy product, but it will actually make them get more sales as they make improvements to their products and that’s good business.

    Hi Stu, i notice you have a radiomaster pocket, as do i, and i only recently found out that i could adjust the tension on the gimbals. I tightened them up a lot and my precision in flying 5" drones greatly increased due to finer modulation of the sticks. Do you have any advice around gimbal tension, is too tight a bad thing, is it completely user preference. I am forever tightening my throttle tension as i think it loosens all the time.

    • @UAVfutures
      @UAVfutures  25 днів тому

      I actually fly loose. I didnt even think about doing that to my pocket, I need to open up mine though and I feel like my power button is sinking in? how is yours?

    • @BadgerDogCat27
      @BadgerDogCat27 25 днів тому

      @@UAVfutures you can adjust with a 1.5mm Allen key without opening the case, there are service holes for adjustment of both gimbals. Otherwise the pocket has been excellent as my first controller. No problems.
      I would recommend you give it a try as the ability to modulate the throttle was way better once tightened. The stock loose setting was good for whoop size drones but higher power drones I just couldn't fly successfully with the stock tension. Mind you I'm pretty new to the scene. Keep up the great work with the videos.
      Anyone else adjust tension on their gimbals?

    I got the Cetus kit for my son, the brushed one. Pretty happy with the kit as a whole, he enjoys flying it. My one gripe is the vtx switch. It would be much better if it was a limited range of channels as you said or if it set the vtx to scan the channels. I know some of the Cetus quads have extra features like the sensors in the bottom for the position and altitude hold which is why the run custom firmware, but I’m sure you could find a way to implement those same features into Betaflight.

      @@UAVfutures first off the ducts/ frame was very fragile. As my first FPV quad I’d crash all the and almost every crash ended with another broken frame. Then the screen in the goggles cracked/broke. Apparently what caused that was I set them down too hard which I still can’t believe because I was always careful with them. Then the fc burnt out. It’s been awhile now so I don’t remember the details around that… By the time I got the fc replaced (over a month later by the time I got it from China) I’d moved on to other drones. When I did get it back in the air I had a tx-12 that I hoped to bind it to not realizing that wasn’t possible since there is no way to assign switches since it doesn’t use betaflight. Needless to say it’s just been collecting dust since.

    I bought both my grandsons radio Master pockets and akeelah 16 drones for Christmas and when I tried to get them set up with the radios the modes didn't match so I downloaded the beta fpv configurator and it worked on one of their older light transmitters but it would not connect to drone no matter what and I had all the correct drivers and every time I ask them about their configurator all I got in return was another question like why do you need to hook it to the configurator... @@UAVfuturesI've never had a problem with any configurator or set up until I tried the beta fpv configurator for their firmware.. I never was able to connect the drone but I did get it worked out but what should be the crash flip mode changes the band channel so I just picked a frequency for each grandson so they can fly at the same time and then disabled the switch on the transmitter.
      I will say this though Aquila 16 did get them started and they did learn the basics with them and since Christmas they stepped up their game to whoops and they're getting pretty good at it an angle mode.. Gave them a 1 star review on the store for the LiteRadio 3 Pro after i bought 2 of them and they went up in smoke while charging with a standard usb charger from Anker, that i charge everything with. If you need a special charger to charge the damn thing, the charger should come with the radio.
    Anyway, the review never went online. That's one way to only have 4 and 5 star reviews on your page.

    A number of years ago I bought a betafpv all in one advanced kit for my son. It had a meteor 75 running their proprietary silverware firmware. My son of course crashed the quad numerous times being a nub and I ended up having issues with the aio board. After much searching I was able to get a replacement aio from betafpv but then the same thing happened again and that board was then obsolete. We also found all the vtx channels on a radio switch a real challenge to figure out. It was also really difficult to convert the entire kit over to something more common like beta flight or quicksilver. I feel the whole proprietary silverware eco system they have in place is a big mistake. They should setup a beginner quad with a basic beta flight setup so that the user doesn’t need to touch it unless they want down the road or just go with a quicksilver setup for these beginner whoop style setups. Not a fan of their silverware ecosystem they currently have going.

    BetaFPV almost made me quit wanting to fly fpv. I bought the Cetus pro as my first basic setup, the drone lasted only a week before the escs went out. They sent me another fc and the esc were bad too! The radio is junk, and so were the goggles. I broke down and spent another $400 to upgrade EVERYTHING drone, radio, and goggles. In my opinion beginner kits are just a cash grab, and it’s better to research a little and just build your own. i don’t see myself ever using their products again.

    I had a less positive experience communicating with betafpv years ago when I accepted a couple of their early drones for review. Glad to see they're at least taking feedback a little more seriously, but I still think with how much success they've had, it's really unfortunate how little effort they still seem to put into ideation, innovation, and quality control... I'd say they're personally my least favorite company in the FPV space.

    The issue with these "reviews" by the YT "reviewers" is the fact NOT everyone likes the same things nor expects the same thing
    I fly many small quads that many reviewers claim was junk and I have a blast with them. Most of my "fleet" is discontinued products . I own several that are not but many are ones so many claimed were so bad .
    It is like beauty , it is in the eyes of the beholder, well with "quads/kwads" it is all about the individuals own desires, thoughts, perception and needs .
    For example DJI is great tech, BUT I will not give them one dime for many reasons as you know, but that is my own position and I do not expect it from others although I wish more would consider the same stance...but to each there own.
    I watched many reviews about that system and many love it, and some did not ,so again to each there own and it is an individual decision in my opinion .
