    To me these quads in the 3.5" size have found a home as a setup that can carry the smaller 4k cameras while still staying sub 250 grams. You can get enough power for good acro while carrying the camera, so it's a compromise to meet restrictions.

    I've had the analog version for some months now. I run Rline 850's and just for giggles I got a gnb 1300. It actually moves quite well with the chunky battery and if you're into loud drones while doing savage turns the extra load really makes the crux scream. For flying in small areas I actually prefer the heavier battery as it keeps it more stable while creeping around stuff.
    Both batteries will easily reach 10+ minutes of relaxed flight.

    I bought the DJI frsky version. I didn't like it but I think that's because it's the only bottom mount quad I own. It flies a lot different than freestyle quads. I mainly bought it because it was clearance priced and I wanted to steal the Vista out of it. I might stretch the frame and put it back together eventually.

    I've got Crux35 analog, and I like it very much. It's a good cruiser/park flyer. However, there are a few flaws. The antenna mounts are not good. I rip off a VTX antenna quickly in a relatively mild crash. Also, RX antenna gets into props easily. FC is bigger than a top plate for 3-4 mm on each side It is not very well protected. Overall it is a good value for money.

    Good to see you back flying like this. Btw, did you check the internal resistance of the battery you used? This can vary quite a bit between different batteries of the same size, even if the same brand and type. I have several GNB 750Mah 80C/160C series, and their internal resistance ranges from around 11 milli Ohm to almost double that. I'm having more consistent results so far with Tattu R-line 750mAh 95C, these vary between 8 and 10 milli Ohm. It will come as no surprise that the voltage sag on the R-line batteries is considerably lower than on the GNB batteries.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  2 роки тому +2

      It wasn't just one battery. It was every 850mah I have which is about 8 I think I tried. Against 6 750mah. After I did my review I see everyone flying theirs on 650mah with no mention of the recommended battery size which I find weird..... It's a tuning problem which I will fix for my vrx review :-)

    • @rc-fannl7364
      @rc-fannl7364 2 роки тому +1

      @@AndyRCchannel Oh, I wasn't referring to the weird difference between flying with the 850mAh and the 750mAh battery, but more about the big voltage sag on throttle punches. For a quad that can fly up to 9 minutes, you wouldn't expect a high current draw, being able to let voltage on the battery side drop that far. Unless some weird tuning problem is causing excessive current draw during those punches. But under normal circumstances, this motor and prop combo should not be able to bring down a good quality battery that far. Unless its internal resistance has gone up, which I have experienced with my GNB 750mAh batteries, over the past year, despite not being abused. And afaik you are using GNB as well, at least in the past you were. That's why I was curious to hear if you checked internal resistance on these packs recently.

    I have the DJI version of this quad. Essentially what it is is a 3.5" Digital Toothpick. Does Happymodel actually fly their own quads they build? I think not, because who recommends putting a lipo on an ULTRALIGHT TOOTHPICK that weighs as much, or close to as much, as the quad itself? Only idiots or Newbies that don't know what they're doing!!! So, instead of using a battery that pretty much DOUBLES the weight of the quad, Dumb!, what would you use if they said it was a Toothpick quad? The lightest lipo you can find! I use a 450mah 4S and it RIPS open a hole in the sky! It's faster than fuc%! lol That's a thing, you know! ;) You put a 450mah 4s on this, and you will still get great flight time, but it will act like it's ON RAILS! Incredible cornering and maneuverability. After all, by using a super light lipo, you've upped the POWER to WEIGHT RATIO tremendously - Just like a Toothpick quad has!
    Next thing I'd do would be to FLASH actual Betaflight 4.3. Ditch that release candidate crap and get the STABLE version of 4.3. They had all sorts of little bugs in the release candidates of 4.3, and that's exactly why it took them soooo long to come out with an actual stable version. Wasn't there a 4.3.6? That's 6 release candidates to fix all of the little bugs, which some weren't too friendly if you had one of the bugs occur on your quad!!! With actual 4.3, you'll be able to pick a preset and it has the potential to clean up those tuning problems, instantly.
    Andy...At about 13:00 in you call it "a little tiny quad like this" - So why would you almost double it's weight by using a 750mah 4S, let alone an 850mah 4s, instead of "realizing" exactly what YOU said, and use a small lightweight lipo like a 450mah 4s? I'd try it again and use the 450mah 4S and HAVE YOUR MIND COMPLETELY BLOWN! What you've done is like taking a truck that can hold 2000lbs and loaded it with 6000 lbs and wondered why it doesn't perform right. It's because it's overloaded, plain and simple. A 9 minute flight time kinda tells us that lipo size could be, and should be reduced significantly...not just to a 650mah, but to a 450mah. Try it and you'll see - you'll see the pure performance this quad is very capable of! (And, I'm not getting the voltage sage you are getting).
    Now imagine the video he's looking at, but about double the sharpness, and about quadruple the performance, without the battery sag and other tuning issues, and you have the DJI version of this stellar little 3.5" Toothpick quad (using a 450mah 4S) ! 😎🤘

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  2 роки тому +2

      Because 750mah to 850mah is happy models quoted size. And from my experience of flying maybe a thousand drones as I say in the video. Smaller batteries don't mean better. 450mah may fly better with a stock tune. But are u getting 9 min flight times? I got 4 mins with 650 mAh and crazy voltage sag compared to the 750. My plan is to tune it for 750

    • @KOrnhOliO1
      @KOrnhOliO1 2 роки тому

      @@AndyRCchannel It's just logical to look at the weight of the quad, then ask what would be a proper weight for such a quad? It's only 93 grams! A lipo that weighs approx. the same as the quad itself is too damn heavy! How many times have you flown a whoop with a lipo the same weight as the whoop? NONE! That's because, like a whoop, a Toothpick is ALL ABOUT big power to weight ratio. A 750mah lipo is not gonna give this Toothpick quad, a large power to weight ratio! It weighs practically the same as the quad does! It's not logical. And, what is this quad designed for? Long range, long 9 minute flights? NO WAY! It's designed to RIP and corner like it's on RAILS!! And you tuning it for a HEAVY 750mah lipo ISN'T gonna make it rip - because you'll be making it have a very small power to weight ratio! It's NOT designed for long flight times.
      Just try it with a quality, Brand New, 450 or 550mah 4S lipo and see it SOAR! Not be a flying BARGE like it is with a 750mah 4S! 😳🙄
      You and I both know, Happymodel barely even flies these quads before they release them to the public! Recommending a heavy 850 or 750 for a 93g quad is STUPID! Do you try to get 9 minute flight times from whoops or 5" quads? Hell No! So, go for a typical 3 - 4 minute flight time and make this Toothpick have a great power to weight ratio and RIPPPPPPP! I know, it flies AWESOME!
      Long flight times is for people who don't know what they are doing, or flying a long range quad...which this isn't. Or Newbies! And we know you are an OG of FPV!

      @@KOrnhOliO1 I want to thank you Sco0t. I have been flying my Crux35 hd with 850s and been pretty happy, other than a little jello when punching out. No hot motors or anything. But I flew a couple of 450s today and really loved the performance, though I still have a tiny bit of vibration. One other thing that I did that you might want to try, as it made everything feel even smoother, was flash Bluejay and 48kHz to the ESCs. I'm pretty sure I picked up some flight time too. Yeah, as far as me, I use 450mah 4S all the time now - plenty of flight time and super performance! I have an older 5" I wasn't flying so I let my friend fly it and all he has are 450mah 4S...nothing bigger. And, all be damned, the 5" gives long flight times and cruises like it's a Toothpick wanna be! lol It doesn't have the huge motors of some other 5", but still it's got 2205 - 2300kv, so plenty of power. It's a very lightweight 5". He was having such a blast he wants to buy it from me.
      I've heard BlueJay is awesome - even JB loves it! 48khz will definitely give you longer flight time, at least it does on smaller drones. I was thinking about going with EmuFlight as people say the stock settings give them the best tune they've ever had. So, Emu and BlueJay it is! I'm anxious to try it out.
