Awesome video! Thank you for another great product presentation 🎉 Analog happened to be my first purchase because of being on a tight budget. I believe that analog and digital can coexist. I'm really disappointed that some of the other FPV content creators are making arguments for digital to kill off analogy. In reality, most people started out with analogy. In reality, those pushing the content about digital FPV is the way to go, are the ones who have the money to invest in the over priced products. It's a battle between hobby and commercialization hidden behind some of these UA-camrs!
Great goggles. As a analog centric pilot, I needed an upgrade from my HDO. Also I wanted something that can dual as HD and Analog. After reviewing how analog works with HD Zero, Walksnail, or DJI goggles, I found that an analog goggle that has HD plug-in does analog better than an HD goggle that has an analog plug-in. And with the Skyzone 04X Pro, the 720P 100hz screens now allow seamless integration with the Walksnail VRX.
One other thing, my 04x v2 goggles came with an extremely noisy fan. More so when it was colder. I opened up the cover and put a drop of the oil that came with my clippers and it immediately went completely silent. You shouldn’t have to do this to a brand new pair of several hundred dollar goggles, but it did fix it for very little effort
Feeling like you missed the point of these goggles... They upgraded the screens to 1080 resolution. So they can work well with Walksnail VRX. That is it, no other reason... They are for people who want great analog goggles but also want the option of walksnail or HDZero VRX.
@@Svedge Unless the goggles are no longer supported software-wise, it might be better to attach new digital systems directly to an analog system in the long term. You've got problems such as obsolescence, compatibility, and reliability. Would the Skyzones last long enough hardware-wise to be worth it? I don't know. You also have the problem of analog support for newer products. What's to stop HDZero from becoming another DJI or simply make a change to the software you don't like?
@@faberofwillandmighti like hdzeros products alot but they are kind of dji already. the vrx they updated but didn't allow the 90 fps mode, but its possible if they wanted to. Walksnail allowed it for the 100 fps on the skyzones and I almost like that pro consumer practice better. I have sky04x v2 might try to upgrade

But for regular just piloting and stunts it's not a major issue at all unless it's really cheap imo. I like the analogue look a lot. That saturated broken signal look. I don't know why. I just do.
@@ProfShibe Uhh, the caddx tarsier, loris, runcam hybrid, and split 4 all disagree. DJI goggle footage isn't really suitable for cinematic shots either, the new 04 line with it's onboard recording is the only exception. The only way to get actual decent footage is with a split cam, or an action cam or otherwise onboard recording. The FPV feed only needs to show you the environment in order to frame shots and avoid obstacles.
All my quads are analog still (wings are switched to DJI). And I still use my SkyZone 03O's I bought brand new 4 years ago. Never dropped video, or had any other issues. They make a great goggle!
I love my Skyzone 04X v2 analog goggles! I have hundreds of hours of flying with the analog Rapidfire module. One of the best products I've purchased, for sure. Analog is not dead and I'll keep flying with these goggles for years to come! There is a certain charm to analog for me.
I'm currently running HDZero on most of my fleet but I still have a few analog models. I started flying fpv back when we had to build our own tiny whoops with brushed motors and aio camera/vtx combos. That said, analog has come a long way since then! Like night and day.
Not dead for me, flying my 7 analog quads and have a lot of fun with them combined with my HDO2 goggles. Until today transferring them to digital is too costly.
Dead doesn't mean that nobody uses them, it means that analog support is about dried up. You'll be able to buy the hardware but it's highly unlikely we will see more analog development.
No, the receiver has nothing to do with the video feed, unless its like one of those boards where it has a built in vtx and receiver. Otherwise you can just change the video system @picturesin3609
Always love the videos Stu!! I know you leaned pretty hard into the idea that these are the goggles you want if you have no interest in hd, but my understanding is that the upgrading of the OLED panels to 100 Hertz, along with the HDMI, is supposed to give the flexibility of using these seamlessly with the walksnail vxr. Nothing wrong with analog, I fly it more than digital, especially during the long whoop Season Winter in canada, but I think there's a lot of guys like me who also want to fly HD in the summer, and this gives you the option to do both in one beautiful package. I've been very happy with my 04 ex goggles, which just passed their 3rd birthday, without any issues and with top performance. These seem like a very good option for people who primarily or at least fly a lot of analog but still want to dip their toes into hd. 😁👊🏻
These goggles can be used both with analog receivers and with digital receivers. So, it seems incorrect to call them analog goggles, unless you want to stress that they come with an analog receiver. Would you still call them analog goggles if they came without a receiver?
I switched 5 quads to wlksnl and was using the vrx on the sky04x v2 but still kept a couple analog because I really like having a single earbud in and hear the motors in real time, not a delayed echo that you get from digital. YES, I still fly with an ear bud. I now have the goggles x but I still enjoy flying analog on sky04x. There’s just something about being able to hear what’s going on in the quad that makes it more immersive.
Pondering over these for my first real set of goggles.. I wish there was a place near that I could try on different sets; it makes it hard to decide since I don't have a frame of reference beyond box goggles
Almost makes me angry to see people say analog is dead. They’re obviously the people who don’t fly tinywhoops that need to be ultra light for high performance. It’s also cheap and quite durable. Thanks for making this video
Enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing it. I'm a SSC (sexy senior citizen) who has been flying fixed wing for many years, and am trying to learn FPV. I started with DJI Air 03. Unfortunately, there is no one in my area who knows anything about digital FPV. I studied over a month trying to learn the ins and outs, with no success. I finally returned the digital equipment and have decided, at least for now, to stay with analog as it is so much easier to learn the technical parts. I watched teaching video after video, but they all leave out the actual details that are so important to digital FPV. I agree, my own shortcoming. May be a nitch for someone to enter-actual teaching what is needed to set up digital video, which seems so much more complex to those who are computer challenged. Just a thought.
I picked up a used pair of WS Avatars for $280 and DJI V2's for $250. HD has never been cheaper! VTX's still pricey, though. Still saving for my 03 Air unit.🤣 But have 3 WS quad up and going. WS VTX prices are much more doable.
Analog is not dead! While I fly mostly digital, there still a few thing analog is better at. My bando basher is still analog, as I find the analog image to be more4 organic when flying in tight spaces.I don't have to watch the numbers on the screen, i can watch the static and tell ho0w my signal quality is doing, and if I can push deeper or need to turn back. It also aquires signal faster when I fly pasrt something that causes a total blackout. And I also find the almost cartoonish image based more on bright colors and shapes to be better for navigating when I'm spinning and flipping at 1200 degrees a second. Digital images toss in too much detail in those cases, muddying up the image.😁
I’ve seen a bardwell video about these and he’s shown that you can get an adapter to hook up I believe the HDZero system to those goggles. I think that could really make a difference if you want both analog and digital in the one goggle.
One cool thing about upgrading to HDZ goggles is that you can slap an analog receiver in them! You don't have to upgrade everything at once, though you do need to buy the adapter.
I still use a lot of analog. I didn’t buy into the dji hype. I waited and picked up a hdzero vrx and now I got the best of both worlds and still using my beat up dom 3 goggles.
I know you mentioned not being sure why people would get this, but I think it might be a pretty good fit for me and here's why. I have only purchased one set of goggles so far but I have about 9 drones at this point. I have recently converted 3 of them to Walksnail HD so I could try the 1S kit, Nano, and HD Pro kit. I was considering buying the Goggles X so I could get the full walksnail potential but a lot of the features arent out yet and may not ever come out. On top of that I'd need to buy an analog receiver (they might not have one yet I havent seen it but it could be out there) and my Walksnail VRX will also be useless besides a backup for the CobraX goggles I have now. I have a few analog cameras with starlight sensors and powerful VTX's that I'd like to keep and I also dont like the delay of HD so I probably will keep both Walksnail and Analog on my drones. With these goggles I can get the nice Oled display, 100fps (the thing I wanted most), smaller form factor, and I already like Skyzone with the Cobra X, and I can use it as analog or use my Walksnail VRX depending on which drone I fly and my Cobra's can be a backup or let my friends watch as I fly. Something that's not obvious is the sense on "Uncanny Valley" you get with analogue, It's hard to pinpoint, but the sense of removal feels a lot more Interesting despite me never wanting to use it again.
@robert-gille just search "5.8g analog adapter for dji fpv goggles." The module can be plug and play and is held along your headstrap. The internal option will require you to dismantle the front cover of your goggles, cut and soder some wires. The module itself comes with its own 3d printed front plate. I just simply installed a small switch I had laying around between the modules power source, (red) wire. Just a word of warning, by opening the goggles, you may introduce specs of dust to enter and can be extremely difficult to remove.
There are less and less analog vtx available on the market. The zeus vtx, ovx303 and jhemcu vtx are mostly taken down or sold out status everywere. But more 1.6W vtx are released for the budget 7" LR builds.
I still fly analog on a couple of my older drones and a few wings especially my very long range wings I still fly good analog and I do believe that those goggles are focused more towards people who run the vxr modules such as walk snail vxr and hd0 vrx I think the people who want to run the vrxs want some new tech as in goggles with more features and options
I'm just now trying to get my first quad and my problem with DJI is that goggles 3 doesn't support o3 and older models are just that, older So I'm in the position that i can't get the latest goggles witg O3, and don't want to buy the older ones And besides, if i get 2 quads with analog, i can put the money saved towards buying an action camera
I'm still rockn my 2014 Fatshark HD2 50 degrees FOV and I lpve them and still going strong. For me I have spares and can't justify the cost of upgrading the fleet though my fleet is a 3rd the size of your wall Stew.
Hi Stew, Hell No ! It's not Dead, I'm Analog Forever. Hopefully it will never die. I have been flying analog since 2012 and now it has improved so much. I have 18 quads flying on analog, I still fly with my SKYZONE 03O googles, I only have one complaint, I have 4/3 screen only and after I purchase them the 04X came out with 6/9 & 4/3 , or Eachine 04O it had a duel receivers. Now for the new Skyzone 04X pro digital, l personally, it's just like buying a DJI googles now and then the receivers are the same price as a DJI receivers, Thanks but I still prefer the Skyzone/Eachine 04O, and if I ever decide to go with walksnail, I just purchased the module and use the USB port. I think the reason for not going digital is price. Digital camera systems are 5x-10x that of analog. Most of us have multiple quads, so the price to convert them all is massive. I have 1 DJI digital system and several analogs, so it made more sense to me to have both goggles. (Digital is addictive though).
How come the fpv googles, specially analog ones, are so expensive comparing them with vr standalone headsets that have wayyyy better screens and lenses, batery for hours, a way more powerful hardware...? It blows my mind to be able to get a quest 2 for less than 300 bucks and see fpv googles between 400 and 900 dolars. 😢
I'm not qualified enough to build drones myself. Moreover, my favorite drone today exists in two versions: analog and Vista. So for me there is simply no choice, since Vista is not very good for long-range flights. Besides, I’m not an experienced pilot, and a digital camera adds at least another $100-230 to the price of the drone. that is, the cost of losing a drone increases by 50-100%.
I'm sticking with analog.. but am looking to upgrade the gogs as my Aomway V2s are a bit dated now .the fov on those is appealing..but the price tag is a bit exy considering how dated all the internal components are..and noisy fans suck..

Maybe, as time passes and the digital world grows, and more makers enter the fray, digital will become more affordable and not so prioritized. In my eyes, that opens the door to more options and users.
I am all analog, all the way and will likely stay there. I also like box goggles over the binocular type. Plus, I not care about recording video since I would do NOTHING with it. Flying is just for my fun and analog works just fine for that. I will say it would be nice if analog goggles had a de-interlacing feature like that of the HDZero analog module. Now, about price. I simply will not pay over $ 300 USD for goggles of any type; that is just way too much to pay for goggles. If the HDZero goggles come down to $ 300 USD or less then I might get a set and the analog module for the de-interlacing feature. That would improve my analog video, plus I could install an HD system in a quad or two, maybe, hmmm, prices have just got to drop. Otherwise, my Vipers and Eachine EV800D goggles are just fine. If I could wire in that de-interlacing module, then that would be all that I would ever need.
They keep saying analog is dead............not yet, especially on the fixed wing side. People have large collections of analog setups, so as long as those are out there, I think analog will be here for a while. Plus, if the hobby is going to stay alive, then it needs new blood. $200 in fpv gear for each wing/quad is not going to draw in a lot of new blood. PLUS, from a quad/wing mfg perspective, most new people to the hobby won't know the real difference between analog and digital (meaning experiencing the difference themselves and not through YT videos), then price is more important.
Where does this analog dead talk come from ? I have heard it many times and see many YT Guru's claiming analog is ending when in fact The Majority of the Community still fly analog . Bardwell for instance has his head up DJI so deep he thinks anything other than it simply can not or should not be used anymore. I fly analog and always will until I am not able to fly anymore. When they perfect digital and lower the prices and make it a reasonable product I may try it at some point, but as long as DJI and others continue to make one product and then another and then another and you have to continue to spend HUGE $$ to get them, that is NOT for me and I assume MOST others in this Hobby, especially with the Regs and rules are trying to destroy it. I assume with the future plan of Network ID these "digital" companies will incorporate that INTO their products and try and FORCE everyone to go digital through regulations/rules We all can blame DJI who started this entire RID nonsense when they used a system to track and collect data and share it, so much so the Fed Government in the US grounded their drones, they now demand that same tech be forced on us with RID Modules that those like DJI already have IN their drones etc. SO Analog will never die unless the sell outs, sell it out like they have with the RID bowing fiasco.
- It does not make sense to split it into HD vs Analog since all HD systems are incompatible with each other. DJI is DJI only no matter what. WS/HDZero has HDMI input and both HDZero and WS has VRX but these VRX modules do not provide equivalent experience to the original HDZero goggles/Goggles X. Very few people buy more than one HD systems since it is very pricy. - There is still significantly more analog pilots than HDZero pilots. Does that make HDZero dead? I don't think so. - Analog is not going away unless there is cheap light-weight vtx (HDZero and WS are closely approaching but I don't think they can reduce weight to < 1g in near future). ps. I still fly analog. Still own 10 drones and if i “land” on a 30m i don’t riak my life for €150. On digital it would be €250-300 which would make me think twice.
I think the only way people are gonna keep buying anolog goggles is if they are cheap. If i was gonna start again and fly analog id just buy a used pair of hdo 2 for cheap.
I have 3! SkyZone CobraX, Walksnail Avatar and DJI V2. I got all 3 for less than these goggles. I dont understand why everyone wants all the systems in one goggle. I have a big backpack.
Nar the old goggles are still great, it's a cheap system and heaps of pilots like myself will fly it for a few more years. Analog is a worse experience for the avg pilot, true. But I still really enjoy the more visceral image and it just has a feel to it I can't quite describe.
Personally I think no new goggles should be over 300 US dollars. I am disabled and unable to work anymore so I live on a very fixed income and can't afford 500 dollars for goggles, it would take me about 2 years to buy a pair of 500 dollar goggles and I would get the Avatar X goggles and the moonlight kit for my first fpv drone. I've been trying to find some used ones but no luck
yes of course nice review, but if you don't declare which Cam and VTX you used, it is not a complete review on the Analogue system, but it is half a review, therefore almost useless given that those types of Goggles are very well known😅
I'll stay analog. No reason for me to start over at this point and spend a ton of money on all the same crap just to run digital. I don't and not going to spending anymore money, just going to maintain what I have as I need
Not dead at all. Dji has way too much latency, hdzero has rubbish range and penetration and walksnail is just shit. A 5 inch quad with a 2.5 watt vtx and a very good camera is the ultimate setup for me. FYI I have both Dji and hdzero setups. Still prefer analog.
Isn't HDzero still kinda analog? Shouldnt the range and penetration of HDzero be more ot less the same as analog? Maybe hdzero has less output power than those 1.6W analog VTX
@chrisbee5481 in my experience the range isn't the same but it's more to do with the way the image degrades in the goggles. With analog it's gradual and you know when you should bring the quad back. Hdzero you get the unicorn piss rainbow sparkles without warning. Plus a good quality analog setup doesn't look that much different from hdzero imo.
I don't use goggles, I use a monitor. I also only use analog. I don't want to use digital because every digital VRx is actually also a transmitter and I don't want extra radiation in my face when I can use analog receiver which doesn't transmit anything.
the only downside to analog is that anyone with a receiver can tune into my video feed while I'm flying in my private property. It can be mitigated with an analog video scrambler but no company has put out such a product yet with a reasonable price.
What k1lled FPV the most? 1 Certain YT talking heads Flooding it with noobz for their own views and selfish channel growth (?) 2 Misogyny ruined it for fully half of potential pilots, turning it into a sausage festival (?) 3 Expensive, complicated, Non-standarized, and fragmented (?) 4 Pandemic ended, audience departed, nobody watches FPV videos any more (?) 5 Generative AI displaced it as way more hot and interesting (?)

With the versatility of HDZero Goggles, it's actually no big reason to get anything else as you can get a module to it for everything except DJI.

Analog has many avantages over digital. Cheaper vtx, reliable, open source, good for longrange, fixed latency. Some of the reason i still do it.
Analogue good for long range? Is it better than digital for that?

How are you able to hear the motors? Is there a microphone on the quad?

My bando basher is still analog, as I find the analog image to be more4 organic when flying in tight spaces.I don't have to watch the numbers on the screen, i can watch the static and tell ho0w my signal quality is doing, and if I can push deeper or need to turn back. It also aquires signal faster when I fly pasrt something that causes a total blackout. And I also find the almost cartoonish image based more on bright colors and shapes to be better for navigating when I'm spinning and flipping at 1200 degrees a second. Digital images toss in too much detail in those cases, muddying up the image.😁
I’ve seen a bardwell video about these and he’s shown that you can get an adapter to hook up I believe the HDZero system to those goggles. I think that could really make a difference if you want both analog and digital in the one goggle.
You can go the other way as well, I bought HDZero goggles and an analog receiver for them.
I still have my skyzone O2X and I love them. Next purchase will be hdzero but that’s probably a year away still.

One cool thing about upgrading to HDZ goggles is that you can slap an analog receiver in them! You don't have to upgrade everything at once, though you do need to buy the adapter.
I still use a lot of analog. I didn’t buy into the dji hype. I waited and picked up a hdzero vrx and now I got the best of both worlds and still using my beat up dom 3 goggles.

Haven't people been wondering if analog is dead in for the past 4 or 5 years?
I know you mentioned not being sure why people would get this, but I think it might be a pretty good fit for me and here's why. I have only purchased one set of goggles so far but I have about 9 drones at this point. I have recently converted 3 of them to Walksnail HD so I could try the 1S kit, Nano, and HD Pro kit. I was considering buying the Goggles X so I could get the full walksnail potential but a lot of the features arent out yet and may not ever come out. On top of that I'd need to buy an analog receiver (they might not have one yet I havent seen it but it could be out there) and my Walksnail VRX will also be useless besides a backup for the CobraX goggles I have now. I have a few analog cameras with starlight sensors and powerful VTX's that I'd like to keep and I also dont like the delay of HD so I probably will keep both Walksnail and Analog on my drones. With these goggles I can get the nice Oled display, 100fps (the thing I wanted most), smaller form factor, and I already like Skyzone with the Cobra X, and I can use it as analog or use my Walksnail VRX depending on which drone I fly and my Cobra's can be a backup or let my friends watch as I fly. Something that's not obvious is the sense on "Uncanny Valley" you get with analogue, It's hard to pinpoint, but the sense of removal feels a lot more Interesting despite me never wanting to use it again.
Still rocking the gen1 dji fpv. It's modified with an internal analog chip so I can easily switch back and forth. Very comfortable too.
Where or how did you modify it?
@robert-gille just search "5.8g analog adapter for dji fpv goggles." The module can be plug and play and is held along your headstrap. The internal option will require you to dismantle the front cover of your goggles, cut and soder some wires. The module itself comes with its own 3d printed front plate. I just simply installed a small switch I had laying around between the modules power source, (red) wire. Just a word of warning, by opening the goggles, you may introduce specs of dust to enter and can be extremely difficult to remove.
There are less and less analog vtx available on the market.
The zeus vtx, ovx303 and jhemcu vtx are mostly taken down or sold out status everywere.
But more 1.6W vtx are released for the budget 7" LR builds.
Unless someone pulls off for digital video what ELRS managed to pull off for the radio control link then no, I do not believe it will ever die.
Hopefully HDZERO will, though prices are still way too high.
I feel offended by that headphone comment haha, I like the motor noise and when flying long range the audio starts to cut out before video.
I prefer analog and fly with my Skyzone 03-goggles on pretty often. Skyzone is definitely not done and their days are definitely not over.
I still fly analog on a couple of my older drones and a few wings especially my very long range wings I still fly good analog and I do believe that those goggles are focused more towards people who run the vxr modules such as walk snail vxr and hd0 vrx I think the people who want to run the vrxs want some new tech as in goggles with more features and options
Analog is just the beginning for new pilots
I'm just now trying to get my first quad and my problem with DJI is that goggles 3 doesn't support o3 and older models are just that, older
So I'm in the position that i can't get the latest goggles witg O3, and don't want to buy the older ones
And besides, if i get 2 quads with analog, i can put the money saved towards buying an action camera
Analog won’t die till someone like HDZero makes a vtx that’s just as small and power efficient as an analog vtx. Its gonna happen at some point
Analog is still my preferred system for long range.
I'm still rockn my 2014 Fatshark HD2 50 degrees FOV and I lpve them and still going strong. For me I have spares and can't justify the cost of upgrading the fleet though my fleet is a 3rd the size of your wall Stew.

Hi Stew, Hell No ! It's not Dead, I'm Analog Forever. Hopefully it will never die. I have been flying analog since 2012 and now it has improved so much. I have 18 quads flying on analog, I still fly with my SKYZONE 03O googles, I only have one complaint, I have 4/3 screen only and after I purchase them the 04X came out with 6/9 & 4/3 , or Eachine 04O it had a duel receivers. Now for the new Skyzone 04X pro digital, l personally, it's just like buying a DJI googles now and then the receivers are the same price as a DJI receivers, Thanks but I still prefer the Skyzone/Eachine 04O, and if I ever decide to go with walksnail, I just purchased the module and use the USB port. Thanks for the video and information about the googles.

I think the reason for not going digital is price. Digital camera systems are 5x-10x that of analog. Most of us have multiple quads, so the price to convert them all is massive. I have 1 DJI digital system and several analogs, so it made more sense to me to have both goggles. (Digital is addictive though).
I have many analog drones. I have skyline x4pro and I love them.
Also digital is harder to take someone along for the ride.
How come the fpv googles, specially analog ones, are so expensive comparing them with vr standalone headsets that have wayyyy better screens and lenses, batery for hours, a way more powerful hardware...? It blows my mind to be able to get a quest 2 for less than 300 bucks and see fpv googles between 400 and 900 dolars. 😢
As long as it's still viable and THE least expensive option, it will never die.

I'm not qualified enough to build drones myself. Moreover, my favorite drone today exists in two versions: analog and Vista. So for me there is simply no choice, since Vista is not very good for long-range flights. Besides, I’m not an experienced pilot, and a digital camera adds at least another $100-230 to the price of the drone. that is, the cost of losing a drone increases by 50-100%.
I'm sticking with analog.. but am looking to upgrade the gogs as my Aomway V2s are a bit dated now .the fov on those is appealing..but the price tag is a bit exy considering how dated all the internal components are..and noisy fans suck..
The most cost effective option is an HD goggle and an analog adapter. Now chose which one :)
I’m new to FPV and it is much easier to start with analog and something like the EV800D because digital is just way too expensive for me.

It is funny that what makes something dead is the fact that you dont have to buy upgrades every year.
Maybe, as time passes and the digital world grows, and more makers enter the fray, digital will become more affordable and not so prioritized. In my eyes, that opens the door to more options and users.
I am all analog, all the way and will likely stay there. I also like box goggles over the binocular type. Plus, I not care about recording video since I would do NOTHING with it. Flying is just for my fun and analog works just fine for that. I will say it would be nice if analog goggles had a de-interlacing feature like that of the HDZero analog module. Now, about price. I simply will not pay over $ 300 USD for goggles of any type; that is just way too much to pay for goggles. If the HDZero goggles come down to $ 300 USD or less then I might get a set and the analog module for the de-interlacing feature. That would improve my analog video, plus I could install an HD system in a quad or two, maybe, hmmm, prices have just got to drop. Otherwise, my Vipers and Eachine EV800D goggles are just fine. If I could wire in that de-interlacing module, then that would be all that I would ever need.
They keep saying analog is dead............not yet, especially on the fixed wing side. People have large collections of analog setups, so as long as those are out there, I think analog will be here for a while. Plus, if the hobby is going to stay alive, then it needs new blood. $200 in fpv gear for each wing/quad is not going to draw in a lot of new blood. PLUS, from a quad/wing mfg perspective, most new people to the hobby won't know the real difference between analog and digital (meaning experiencing the difference themselves and not through YT videos), then price is more important.
Where does this analog dead talk come from ?
I have heard it many times and see many YT Guru's claiming analog is ending when in fact The Majority of the Community still fly analog . Bardwell for instance has his head up DJI so deep he thinks anything other than it simply can not or should not be used anymore.
I fly analog and always will until I am not able to fly anymore.
When they perfect digital and lower the prices and make it a reasonable product I may try it at some point, but as long as DJI and others continue to make one product and then another and then another and you have to continue to spend HUGE $$ to get them, that is NOT for me and I assume MOST others in this Hobby, especially with the Regs and rules are trying to destroy it.
I assume with the future plan of Network ID these "digital" companies will incorporate that INTO their products and try and FORCE everyone to go digital through regulations/rules
We all can blame DJI who started this entire RID nonsense when they used a system to track and collect data and share it, so much so the Fed Government in the US grounded their drones, they now demand that same tech be forced on us with RID Modules that those like DJI already have IN their drones etc.
SO Analog will never die unless the sell outs, sell it out like they have with the RID bowing fiasco.
- It does not make sense to split it into HD vs Analog since all HD systems are incompatible with each other. DJI is DJI only no matter what. WS/HDZero has HDMI input and both HDZero and WS has VRX but these VRX modules do not provide equivalent experience to the original HDZero goggles/Goggles X. Very few people buy more than one HD systems since it is very pricy.
- There is still significantly more analog pilots than HDZero pilots. Does that make HDZero dead? I don't think so.
- Analog is not going away unless there is cheap light-weight vtx (HDZero and WS are closely approaching but I don't think they can reduce weight to < 1g in near future).

I still fly analog. Still own 10 drones and if i “land” on a 30m i don’t riak my life for €150. On digital it would be €250-300 which would make me think twice.
Not to mention the cost of upgrading 10 drones
I think the only way people are gonna keep buying anolog goggles is if they are cheap. If i was gonna start again and fly analog id just buy a used pair of hdo 2 for cheap.
I can't be the only one who has two sets of googles and does analog and digital. It's not an all or nothing choice.
I have 3! SkyZone CobraX, Walksnail Avatar and DJI V2. I got all 3 for less than these goggles. I dont understand why everyone wants all the systems in one goggle. I have a big backpack.

Nar the old goggles are still great, it's a cheap system and heaps of pilots like myself will fly it for a few more years.
Analog is a worse experience for the avg pilot, true. But I still really enjoy the more visceral image and it just has a feel to it I can't quite describe.
Personally I think no new goggles should be over 300 US dollars. I am disabled and unable to work anymore so I live on a very fixed income and can't afford 500 dollars for goggles, it would take me about 2 years to buy a pair of 500 dollar goggles and I would get the Avatar X goggles and the moonlight kit for my first fpv drone. I've been trying to find some used ones but no luck
I fly with headphones. I come from racing bikes, so sound is important for me. That why i wouldn't try hd zero. I fly worse without headphones

yes of course nice review, but if you don't declare which Cam and VTX you used, it is not a complete review on the Analogue system, but it is half a review, therefore almost useless given that those types of Goggles are very well known😅

Not dead at all. Dji has way too much latency, hdzero has rubbish range and penetration and walksnail is just shit. A 5 inch quad with a 2.5 watt vtx and a very good camera is the ultimate setup for me. FYI I have both Dji and hdzero setups. Still prefer analog.
Isn't HDzero still kinda analog? Shouldnt the range and penetration of HDzero be more ot less the same as analog? Maybe hdzero has less output power than those 1.6W analog VTX
@chrisbee5481 in my experience the range isn't the same but it's more to do with the way the image degrades in the goggles. With analog it's gradual and you know when you should bring the quad back. Hdzero you get the unicorn piss rainbow sparkles without warning. Plus a good quality analog setup doesn't look that much different from hdzero imo.

I don't use goggles, I use a monitor. I also only use analog.
I don't want to use digital because every digital VRx is actually also a transmitter and I don't want extra radiation in my face when I can use analog receiver which doesn't transmit anything.
the only downside to analog is that anyone with a receiver can tune into my video feed while I'm flying in my private property.
It can be mitigated with an analog video scrambler but no company has put out such a product yet with a reasonable price.
